  • What should I do with a splinter?

I have a splinter in my big toe, near the front. When I'm walking I don't directly push it back in with pressure but it is a nuisance. I hate using needles/ sharp objects to retrieve the splinter, and it doesn't appear to be infected. I used drawing salve on it last night to no avail; I think it's just because the skin is pretty tough. I've heard that hot water is a good remedy, but as it's a wood splinter I'm afraid that might just cause the wood to expand. I've heard that the body consumes wood or that it rejects foreign bodies. Is there anything else that might help my toe reject the wood splinter faster or consume it more quickly (whichever of the two happens to be faster). I'm pretty set on not picking it out manually with a needle unless the head presents itself and I can grab with tweezers, because it's already very tender.

  • red lipstick-- too much for school?

I've been waiting for warm weather so I can wear a specific outfit. It has a 40-ish feel, (white button down, red & white high waisted shirt, shoes: white keds). I'm going to pull my hair back in a simple bun and curl my bangs 40s style. Would red lipstick be too much? I normally wear different things to school, I'm somewhat afraid of looking ridiculous, this time. I just love the vintage feel of red lipstick.

Also I don't wear crazy eye makeup/ blush/ foundation, or anything like that. I like to keep it simple.

  • Description of Porphyria (what is it)?

I'm doing a science project on Porphyria. I can't figure out the actual description of the disease, due to the amount of medical jargon that I'm unable to understand. I know it has to do with heme, and porphyrins, but I don' t know what they are or what they do... Please explain!!!
