  • Assume the variable date has been set to a string value of the form mm/dd/yyyy, for example 09/08/2010.?

(Actual numbers would appear in the string.) Write a statement to assign to a variable named dayStr the characters in date that contain the day. Then set a variable day to the integer value corresponding to the two digits in dayStr .

  • Drugs or something else?

I have had a family member who cut almost all of her family off about a year ago. At the time, we suspected some sort of mental illness (because of things in her past) that may have caused her to do this. She blamed everything that had gone wrong in her life on her parents instead of herself, she has always been very moody and irritable, small things can set her off, she would often have a weird lip licking habit (very exaggerated) and she would also say "hmmp" in between words, she would talk nonstop, she would be very happy sometimes and not so happy other times, etc., she would also not sleep for days at a time, lay in bed crying, and several other things.

Recently, she faked a suicide attempt, she has no contact, she won't let my grandparents see their grandchildren, she has told her grandchildren that my grandparents are awful people and don't want to see them....

Drugs wouldn't have been mentioned before, but we have heard several rumors of drugs and her husband works for a company that is highly suspected of frequent drug use (someone was fired for NOT doing drugs, so that person says), but we have been hesitant to believe this because they are in fact rumors...does any of this sound like drugs could be a potential issue??

  • What is the matter with a family member displaying mental health issues?

A family member has shown these symptoms:

-Running away from home leaving behind a husband, a two year old son, a fourteen yr old daughter, and a eleven year old son with muscular dystrophy

-believes she is an awful mom

-feels like noone in her family understands

    -withdrawing from family

    -irritable

    -mood swings

-we've noticed extreme highs, where she can't stop talking

    -feels "worthless"

    -doesn't feel

-doesn't sleep for long periods of time

    -won't eat

We believe she may be depressive, manic depressive, having a nervous breakdown...and we've heard some mention drug abuse...do any of these sound plausible??

The Economic Order Quantity model in economics says that the reorder

cost C is given in terms of quantity ordered q by

    C(q)=p+hq+k/q

where p,h, and k are constants. Suppose p=4, h=1, and

k=3 . What is the economic order quantity? In other words, find the value of

q that minimizes the cost C(q) with q>0.

  • A train travels along a track and its speed (in miles per hour) is given by s(t)=58t for the first half hour o?

A train travels along a track and its speed (in miles per hour) is

given by s(t)=58t for the first half hour of travel. Its speed

is constant and equal to s(t)=58/2 after the first half hour. Here time t

is measured in hours. How far (in miles) does the train

travel in the first hour of travel? Just give the numerical value.

  • Derivatives of the following functions?

    f(x)=e^sqrt(5x+6)

Find the slope of the tangent line to the graph of the function

f(x)=x*e^x at x=6 correct to two decimal places.

This is for an Elementary Calculus class and these are my last two problems. I'm having some large issues with these and would appreciate any help given to me. Thanks!

  • Rate of Change Questions?

I have completed all of my homework except these few problems that I just can't seem to find the answers too. Any help would be great. :)

If h(t) represents the height of an object above ground level at time t and h(t) is given by

h(t)=-16t^2+13t+1 find the height of the object at the time when the speed is zero.

Suppose h(t)=t^2+14t+7 . Find the instantaneous rate of change of h(t) with respect to t at t=2 .

    Suppose G(x)=6x^2+x+4 . Find a number b such that G'(b)=7 .

Let g(x)=2x^2+4x+1 . Find a value of c between 1 and 3 such that the average rate of change of g(x) from x=1 to x=3 is equal to the instantaneous rate of g(x) at x=c .

Let F(s)=5s^2+3s+4 . Find a value of d greater than 0 such that the average rate of change of F(s) from 0 to d equals the instantaneous rate of change of F(s) at s=1.

Let f(x)=x^2+x+13. What is the value of x for which the tangent line to the graph of y=f(x) is parallel to the x -axis?

Let f(t)=1/t. Find a value of t such that the average rate of change of f(t) from 1 to t equals -1/5 .

    Suppose

    g(s)=s^3-4

What is the average rate of change of g(s) with respect to s as s changes from 1 to 1+h ?

Can you show your work? I'm confused as to how to do these problems. Thanks.

  • What is the poem Not Here by Jane Kenyon trying to say?

For my AP Literature class we are supposed to explicate a poem and tell how it connects to us because our teacher specifically picked a poem that would relate to our lives. I have a few ideas, but was wondering if anyone had any additional comments to suggest. You can find the poem online. Thanks for any help :)

  • Senior songs for a banquet video?

Every year in FFA we have a video that features the graduating seniors and each senior gets to pick a song to have played while pictures of them are displayed in a slide show. I don't want songs that are old or overly used such as Green Day, Friends Forever, Im Not Gonna Cry, etc. These songs would preferably be modern, and country. No rap at all because it wouldn't fit with the organization.
