I know quite a bit about the body, trained as a massage therapist and hypnotherapist. I deal with eating and exercise a lot in my hypnotherapy practice, and I have worked with a few trainers. I've been a student of Taoism for over 20 years, so that gives me a fairly unique philosophical perspective. I've worked in book publishing, mostly on psychology, philosophy, and religion books, and I'm also a freelance writer with a lot of interest in biology. My current passion is designing board and card games, and one is an educational game on stars and planets and constellations, so I've had to do a lot of research on astronomy and space. I'm still a member of the Screen Actors Guild and was a professional actor and singer in Hollywood for a while.

  • Which TV show uses Peter Sterling's "Forever and a Day" as its theme song?

I heard this song on Music Choice (recorded in 2008, if that helps), and I couldn't place the TV show that uses it as its theme song. I think it was a cable show on Showtime or HBO.

  • What words do Africans use to refer to grasslands we call savanna or veldt?

I'm looking for a word that has its origin in an African language. For example, Swahili has mbuga, but I'm looking for another word, if possible. (Part of the reason I didn't want to use Savannah was that it would be confused with the city, and Mbuga is a city.) Savanna has a Caribbean origin, and Veldt is Dutch. I checked a Massai dictionary, but although it listed lots of words for grass, no grassland. I'm looking for something as close to Kenya as possible, because, for example, Moroccan and Egyptian words won't work.

  • Example of bringing in one invasive species to get rid of another?

I'm trying to come up with a zoological (but will settle for a botanical) example of a Cat in the Hat style solution (probably historical) where one species of animal is introduced, then another is introduced to control that one, and the perhaps a third to control that one. You get the idea. It is for a book intro I'm writing.

I appreciate the help. I remember reading about something in Australia or elsewhere like that, but I can't find it.

  • 46-year-old man hungry all the time, eating every 3 hours??

I am 46 years old, 6'0", 185 lbs., work out with weights 3-4 times per week for about an hour each time, work at home (rarely anything more strenuous than working at the computer), no signs of parasites, it's been going on for months, and I'm under a little stress from a lot of savings and credit going into a new manufacturing business. I sleep 8 hours or more per night.

I'm most interested in comments from men in similar situations or from people with some diet and nutrition training.

Is it normal for me to be eating so much?? I have rarely eaten this much since I was a teen.

    Thanks.

  • Map or software for placing non-naked-eye stars in constellations?

I'm trying to design maps of constellations that include red and white dwarves (stars not visible to the naked eye, or in some cases to amateur telescopes). Most of the star maps I find online only include the brightest stars in the constellations or give general directions that aren't exact enough (north central part of the constellation) or coordinates that I can't place on a map (right ascension and declination).

Please don't bother answering with "I don't know" or links to star maps that don't label ALL the stars in a constellation.

  • Companion stars info for Sulafat (Gamma Lyrae)?

I would like to include information about this star system in a project I'm researching, but only one source cites this as a 5-star system, and no sources give much info on the B, C, D, and E stars other than to suggest that two are white and two are red and all are dwarves. Anyone know the distances, sizes, and/or luminosities of the four companion stars to the blue giant?

  • Singers who started at 40 or older?

I have a friend who is convinced it's impossible to get started as a professional pop singer after age 40. Please help me out with as many as possible celebrity-level singers who didn't get their break until they were 40 or older.

  • Build Web Storefront from scratch or buy a package?

I'm taking the leap to my own domain name and adding a shopping cart and payment gateway. I've just started researching. Anyone with experience who can help me decide whether to get a bundled solution or get domain name registration, web hosting, shopping cart, and gateway separately? Do any of these offer an SSL certificate, or does that only come with the bundles?

  • How can I keep better tax records this year?

I'm single, self-employed, doubtful and scared of audit if I claim a home office, travel a lot for work (car, plane, hotels), have to eat on the road a lot, but usually alone, have a 401(k), member of professional associations, medium credit card debt, minor bits of work equipment, moving from Los Angeles to New York this year.

I welcome general hints but especially interested in links to more complete resources.

  • Can you help me identify a sci-fi novel? I don't know the title or author?

I read a review of it about ten years ago, and I was intrigued by the concept and reminded of it now that Heroes is so popular. In the plot (I think it's set in San Francisco, but not sure), super-power mutations are becoming more common, so it follows a couple of cops assigned to bringing in the ones that get into trouble or commit crimes. Any help is appreciated.
