  • My chances at IVY LEAGUE?

I know that it's a huge mystery why some incredible students are turned away while others are accepted to Ivy League Schools, but I am wondering where I stand. It's easy enough to find statistics, but I'm hoping that someone on here can evaluate me personally.

I am first in my class of 143. My GPA was 99.1, but has gone up since last quarter. I recieved a 2030 on my SAT's and plan to take them again along with the ACT's and the SAT II subject tests. I am involved with the drama club, multiple choirs, a dance studio, and I paint in all of my free time. I have volunteered some, but not an excessive amount. I feel that I'm well rounded, but I'm no prodigy. If I were accepted, I would pay next to nothing because of my household income. Do I stand a chance?

I ask because it will definately be a finacial harship to apply to many Ivy League schools and I am unfamiliar with fee waivers.

  • I need advice for creating a dance warm up for show choir...?

I need to create a short dance warm up for a show choir that I'm new to. Do you have any advice on music choice, specific dance styles or moves, or and other useful advice? I can be creative, but I don't know where to start. (I think this is to test whether or not I can be a choreographer.) Thanks!

  • How do I find opportunities in a small town in a low-income family?

I want badly to pursue a career in science. I am in high school in a small town where there are virtually no science opportunities. I am very interested in many summer programs, but they are all out of my price range. I am very excited and passionate about learning and I truely believe that in America, I CAN succeed. If you have any ideas or you know of any programs with excellent financial aid, or even if you can simply offer some encouragement or kind words, it would be greatly appreciated. Again, I am willing to work hard for an opportunity, I just need a chance. Thank you.

  • Are there any on-line science clubs out there for high school students?

My high school does not offer any academic clubs. It's a small school and it's completely sports focused. Almost all of the science teachers are too busy with coaching sports to lead a science club. I am very interested in science and would like to apply for my state's governer's school for the sciences. I want to show that I have a focus in science in my every day life, but how can I do that? If you know of any online science clubs or anything that I could do on my own to learn more about science, it would be VERY much appreciated. (Even volunteer ideas)

  • I need advice on what to do concerning my high school years. Any help?

I'm sort of desperate. When it comes to school, I'm the first in my class. It sounds great but it's not. I go to a very small school and the education just doesn't cut it for me. I earned a 98.8% average my freshman year without studying or even applying myself. Over the summer I tried to convince my mother to let me home school myself. I am a very self disciplined person and could acheive a lot working at my own pace. Unfortunately, my mother did not agree to this. I want to get the most out of my high school education. We talked to the Guidance Counselors and they said that if I need more challenge, I need to find it myself. Private schooling is too expensive. What can I do this coming school year to challenge myself? How can I learn everything I would like to learn without waiting for the rest of the class to catch up? I'm at the end of my resources, so I'm really hoping someone out there will read this-maybe a Guidance Couselor or someone who was in the same situation. Thanks!

  • Stretches and exercising for dancers?

I stretch every morning, but is there a special area I should concentrate on as a dancer? And are there excercises I should do? Should I do the usual crunches and push-ups and what-not? What do you suggest?

  • What can I do to catch up to the better dancers?

I am new to dancing and am trying to join a competition dance studio next year. I am a fast learner and I would like to learn as much as I can this summer. I plan on going to a dance camp for a week, but other than that I'm not sure how I can catch up as far as skill in tap and ballet. Any advice or ideas?

  • DANCERS: Is there somewhere I can apply for a dance scholarship?

I'm 15 and I'm going into my 2nd year of ballet. I want to join a competition dance academy but it's very expensive. I would also like to go to a dance camp over the summer (also very expensive) I found a few memorial scholarships before... but I can't seem to find them. Are there any scholarships you know of that could help me? Either based on financial need, essay contests or anything else.

I have an olive skin tone, but very fair. My body is a bit more golden than my face. If I try to put makeup on, my face either looks too pale against my neck and arms or it looks fake. Any advice?
