  • Should "Maple Leaf Meltdown" become slang in the NHL for 3rd Period collapses?

Definition of Maple Leaf Meltdown: When a team leading late in the 3rd chokes and allows the opposition to tie the game and win in OT.

    Examples

-2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs: After leading 4-1 going into the 3rd Period loses, the Maple Leafs allow Boston to tie the game with less than 10 minutes to go, the Bruins would win it OT and clinch the series

-2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs: With a 4-2 lead, the Dallas Stars allow the Anaheim Ducks to tie the game and win it OT, clinching the series.

  • Boston Bruins vs Montreal Canadiens playoff series, who wins?

I'm not completely writing off Detroit. but a 3-1 series deficit is a tall order for the Red Wings. It looks like it will be the Boston Bruins vs Montreal Canadiens in Round 2. Who do you guys think will win and why?

  • Will Stephane Robidas ever play again?

His 2013-2014 season was limited to only 38 games due to a horrific broken leg injury. Now he is out for the playoffs with the same injury. Robidas is 37, by the time he recovers again, he'll be 38 or possibly even 39. He likely won't be the same again with his bad leg. Should Robidas call it quits or try to make a comeback?

  • Has Ryan Miller been a bust in St. Louis so far?

The St. Louis Blues gave up potentially 2 1st Round Draft Picks, a stellar starting goalie in Jaroslav Halak, a young power forward in Chris Stewart and a decent prospect in William Carrier.

Ryan Miller's stats in Buffalo were a 2.72 GAA and a .923 SV%, amazing stats for a terrible Sabres team.

Ryan Miller's stats in St. Louis are a 2.41 GAA and a .904 SV%, not exactly what the Blues were looking for when they traded for him. Not a bad GAA at all but that SV% leaves a lot to be desired, especially considering St. Louis has one of the deepest defensive corps in the NHL.

    What do you guys think?

  • Would the Washington Capitals trade Alexander Ovechkin?

I'm not saying the Capitals will trade Ovechkin, because it is unlikely no matter what happens.

Despite an NHL-leading 48 goals in 72 games, Ovechkin is clearly not the player he was from 2006-2010. He's an NHL-worst -36 and his playmaking has been almost nonexistent and he is barely limping along at an exact PPG rate and sits 12th in total points and has a bloated 9.5 Million Dollar cap hit. Now with the Capitals in danger of missing the playoffs, there might be some major changes within the organization this summer. A theoretical package for Ovechkin could net them a first line winger to fill his place on the top line, a young 2nd pairing defensemen, a blue chip prospect and a huge load of draft picks (lets day 2014 and 2015 1st and 2nd Round draft picks). It would make the Capitals less of a one-man show and create a better team as a whole.

  • Could the Rick Nash trade be the best in Blue Jackets history?

This trade was supposed to signal the start of yet another rebuild in Columbus, but since trading their greatest player Rick Nash, the Blue Jackets have become a much better team and the Rangers have gotten worse. Dubinksy has rediscovered his scoring touch in Columbus and has become one of the better power forwards this season and is a frontrunner to be their next captain. The aquisitions of Artem Anisimov and Dubinsky along with the emergence of Ryan Johansen, the Blue Jackets now have great depth at Centre. The Rick Nash trade has also netted the Blue Jackets another 1st Round Pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft (Marko Dano).

With the trade for Sergei Bobrovsky and the signing of Nathan Horton, the team has a Vezina-winning goaltender and an excellent, clutch scoring winger.

It all started when Rick Nash was traded, the Blue Jackets have since become a hardworking team that could very well grow into a perennial playoff threat.

Not to mention Rick Nash has had a very poor season in New York and is not living up to his 7 Million dollar contract.

  • Creating the NHL All-Rookie team as of now?

    Forwards

Ondrej Palat-Nathan MacKinnon (Calder Winner)-Chris Kreider

    Defensemen

Olli Maatta-Jacob Trouba(It could go to Torey Krug, but Trouba's plays more minutes then any other rookie D-Man and still brings excellent offense and two-way game)

    Goaltender

    Eddie Lack

Will likely have played 40 games by the end of the season and with these stats he should be a lock for the position)

  • Will Drew Doughty ever crack 50+ Points again?

There is no question that Drew Doughty is one of the best Defensemen in the National Hockey League. However in his sophomore season at the age of 20, he was 3rd in points among NHL Blueliners and nominated for the Norris Trophy. Since then, Doughty has digressed from 56 Points 2010, 40 points in 2011, 36 in 2012, and 22 points in 2013 (in 48 Games). He is currently on track for 42 points, the highest since his sophomore season. Has he changed his game to a more defensive style? Is he lazy? What do you guys think?

  • Whose an beloved NHL great who you hate and why?

Flames fans hate Gretzky, Bruins fans hate Lafleur, etc.

As a Canucks fan, me and a quite a few other Canucks fans can say he have nothing but contempt for one Mark Douglas Messier, known to Rangers fans as the captain (I'm not here to start a Canucks-Rangers feud, I have nothing but respect for Brian Leetch and Mike Richter), but man, we really hate Messier.

    Reasons

    1. As our beloved Captain Canuck Trevor Linden was leveled at centre ice by a Rangers defensemen in Game 6, he struggled and crawled to get back to the bench when out of nowhere, Mark Messier comes speeding in and took out Linden with a vicious hit from behind (no call on the play). Linden's ribs were broken on the hit (he still played in Game 7)

    2. When the Canucks signed Mark Messier in 1997, he insisted that he wear No. 11 even though it was unofficially retired by the team out of respect as it had been worn by Wayne Maki who died in 1974 while playing with the team. Not a great way to reform your image for the Canucks fans.

    3. While the official story is that Trevor Linden willingly gave up the "C" to Messier when he came to Vancouver, I suspect it was much different. You see, a jerk named Mike Keenan was hired as the coach of the team and he had an ardent dislike for Linden and it is widely suspected that Linden was forcibly stripped of the captaincy. Not to mention it caused a split in the locker room.

    4. He played terribly for what he was being paid in Vancouver with little or no heart in games.

    5. All in all, Canucks fans like me hate the man although we realize that his accomplishments in New York and Edmtonton are well deserving of recognition.

    How about you guys?

  • Trade Proposal, Vancouver sends Alex Edler to the NYI in exchange for Michael Grabner?

Both players are struggling on their respective teams and could use a new setting, the NYI Islanders need a legit top 2 Defenseman and the Canucks need bigger scoring wingers. Both fit the bill, Alex Edler is former All-Star D-Man and would instantly upgrade their blue line and Vancouver gets a former 30 goal scorer to play on their top 6 and their former draft pick. Various other spare parts will be included but in essence the deal is Edler for Grabner.

  • Your favourite era of hockey that you watched?

Being born in the mid 1990's, I missed out on watching the Canucks era of Trevor Linden, Pavel Bure and Kirk McLean for the most part, they didn't even have the black/yellow Flying Skate jerseys anymore when I watched my first live game. Instead what I grew up seeing was the pre-lockout 2000's, which was a very exciting time. The Canucks has a great core of Todd Bertuzzi, Markus Naslund, Brendan Morrison, Ed Jovanovski, Mattias Ohlund and the Sedins were starting to develop nicely as players. It was a fun team to watch apart from the postseason and it really impacted me as a hockey fan to have that Canucks squad.
