  • Taxi Cab Laws???

I was hoping to find out about a specific law that I have seen referenced by many cab companies in Atlanta, GA. The sticker usually states that any additional drivers or stops will add an additional cost of one dollar to the cab fare. The additional fare is stated as a law. However, nothing notes the actual law that the sticker is referencing. Is there actually a law, federal or state, that allows cab drivers to charge an additional fee for more than one occupant and stop. If this is so, where can I find more information about this law, so I can read up on it.

  • Advice on dealing with the step parent issue.?

My father's wife gets on my last nerve! The last few weeks have been pure hell, because she has continually nagged me about stupid things. For example, she asked me if I had taken some dog feces and strewn it across the lawn. What kind of sense does that make? Why in a million years would I take dog crap and throw it over the place? I mean she blew up on me about it. During another episode, she verbally attacked me some of her friends not receiving graduation thank you cards, even though I sent them out. Everybody else I sent it to received their thank you not, except her friends. I tried to reason that it may have gotten lost in the mail, but she still went in on me. I wasn't raised to cuss at women, so I held my tongue. Furthermore, she has somehow developed this "motherly" persona about herself, which baffles the hell out of me. Marriage does not make you my mother. I would understand if I was 16 and this was happening but I am 23 years and she calls herself my "step mom". Then she proceeds to treat me as if I'm a child or something. I was 18 years old when my father met her. So where does she get the idea she was ever my mother? I cannot stand to be around her for more than a minute. She says things to me that I would only let my "real" father or mother get away with. I just feel immature for disliking her in a sense, because I feel like I have to suck it up. However, at 23 years old, I shouldn't feel to compelled to be around anyone who I don't care for. I respect my father, but just because my father married her, doesn't mean I have to deal with her. Should I just run for the hills or try to work on the relationship? I hate to be negative about the situation but its just how I feel. I don't want to ruin the relationship she has with my father, but, I can no longer endure this injustice. Advice?

  • Two Nagging Philosophical Questions?

1.) This seems to be an epistemological question. If a person does not believe in ultimate truth, then don't they posit at least one central truth, that there is no truth? I know it seems weird at first glance, but for a person to believe there is no truth seems to be a contradiction. For the same logic which guides them to the belief that there is no truth, is the same logic which renders their position obsolete. What are other people's opinion of this?

2.) Three assumptions: 1) God is all good, and will fight evil as far as he/she can, 2) God is an omnipotent entity, and 3) there are no limits to what an omnipotent thing can do. Under the scope of these first three premises, can someone accurately expound on why evil exists? You must remember "free-will" cannot be utilized as an answer, because while it gives agency to humans, it actually means that God loses his/her omnipotence. Furthermore, if God is all good and will fight evil as far as he/she can, then God cannot be inherently evil. With all of these things being considered, why does evil exist? I would like to hear people's opinions of the matter. I found it hard to use deductive reasoning, because of the stringent guidelines of the first three premises.

  • Issues with Step Parenting?

My dad just got married a couple of months ago, and his new wife just moved in our house. My mother passed away several years ago, and it has just been my father and I living together for the last 11 years. Now his wife, whom I have only known or about four years, goes around town calling me her step son. Yet, I am not a child, and I believe that status of "step son" is being imposed on me. I knew her for four years but I was not close to her during that time. Now, in 2011, she is claiming me as her step son;however, she has no reason to do this. She thinks that just getting married to my father makes her a step mom, but it doesn't. I only have one mother, yet I don't want to disrespect my father and tell her to stop saying she is a step mom. I wish I could just tell her that she is my father's wife and that is all. She can and never will be my mother, so she should discontinue that thought process. What do you think I should do? Do you think I'm crazy for feeling this way?

  • I need help with an Essay!?

I'm doing Toni Morrison's book entitled "Sula". I am pondering about how I am going to formulate the paper. The essay has to be in argumentative style of writing and I need help formulating a accurate thesis statement pertaining to the story. For example, the objective of this paper is to accurately discuss the social criticisms in the novel in the context of blah blah blah. You get the gist of it hopefully. All I need is a good thesis statement and just remember that it has to be argumentative. 10 points to the best one. Thank You.
