I'm bringing dessert to a barbecue hosted by a newly-diagnosed near-diabetic. Anyone have suggestions for a low-carb dessert for which I can pick up the ingredients on my way there, and toss it together in just a few minutes? Like, fruit and whipped cream.

Oh, please, no jello, no artificial sweeteners (everybody's picky these days!)

It's avocado season here; everybody's giving me freebies and I hate having to toss out overripe fruit.

I've got recipes for guacamole, avo soup, and all kinds of sandwiches. I'm hoping for something different, maybe with cooked avocado...

I'm about 40% done with my 6 months of chemo, but my appetite is disappearing, and it's often too much trouble to cook something to eat.

Any suggestions for ready-to-eat, wholesome foods I can keep on hand for quick snacking?

He's a great doctor, but we aren't buddies, so I'd like to keep it fairly impersonal. I think he's in his 40s, he surfs, he's single, lives in Hawaii. Any ideas? Around $100? And something I can ship or have shipped, he's on another island.

My current favorite is V-8 juice and pretzels, and I'd like to branch out, but I can't eat crunchy veggies, nuts, seeds, or dried fruit (or a variety of other goodies, but that's gives you the gist). any suggestions?

I've been sick (hospitalized for 2 weeks), and haven't been able to spoil him like I usualy do for his birthday. Also don't have a lot of energy, but would like to make him feel special, especially since he's been taking such good care of me. Any ideas?

Merlyn was a club band in San Francisco in the early 1980s. One band member was a big Hispanic guy who played a bright blue electric fiddle; the drummer always wore red. Ring any bells? I used to have their first album but lost it, would love to get a new one.
