  • How do you cook braised beef in the slow cooker?

Forgive me if i sound a little stupid but ive never used a slow cooker before and have a nice piece of braising steak to cook tommorrow and a new slow cooker.

My husband is a bit fussy - doesn't like onions or mushrooms or anything (anything healthy really!!) so i just want to know how to cook the beef on its own (he does like gravy though) - so how do i prep it? What do i put in with it? How long for? and what setting? (High or low)

    Thanks in advance!! :-)

  • Should I be worried that my baby isn't self feeding at 11 months?

My baby is 11 months next week and still refuses to finger feed. He will eat almost anything and opens his mouth wide when i approach with any food but he will not feed himself just squeezes it in his hand and drops it on the floor or smears it in the tray. What can i do to encourage him?

Like other babies, he never really puts anything in his mouth (like nearly all babies do as a natural thing) - only his fingers!!! He still hasn't any teeth either!!

    Thanks in advance

  • What's a good/cheap mobile phone with easy facebook?

I'm looking to buy a new mobile phone (in the UK) with a good interface for using facebook. My old mobile has just broken and couldn't do much with facebook as the phone wasn't very internet browser friendly.

I don't want to spend more than £100 - been looking at the Sony Ericsson Elm - which looks ok but not sure - any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!!

  • 11 week old very cranky after injections - is it normal?

My baby is 11 weeks old and is a very good baby normally. he had his 8 week injections the other day (postponed from 8 week due to the snow). However, since the injection he keeps having crying episodes and not feeding as well (usually 7oz - leaving 2oz each time) - he's not himself and was wondering if this is normal and how long it will last.

It's heartbreaking to listen to him cry like that. He usually sleeps through the night 9pm til 9am but last night was crying constantly - only sleeping around 15 mins at a time!!

Did your babies do this? Ive read that some are a bit nangy a short =while after - but it is 2 days now xxx

  • When do I re-start the pill (after having a baby)?

My baby is 8 and a half weeks old and i am keen to start back on the pill- my GP prescribed me back on Microgon 30 and i am a bit confused as to what he was saying - i asked him if i should wait for my period to come back (still not started) and he just told me to start the pill whenever i want to start having sex. If i start the pill -am i protected straight away? Or should i just wait for my period to return?

Don't wanna end up pregnant again - Not for a little while anyway, lol)

If you choose to bottle feed your baby, does the breast milk go away by itself - do you need to take any medication?

    Thanks

  • Smears really hurt me so terrified of giving birth, any advice?

When i have a smear test - the pain is unbearable when the use the speculum instrument. In addition, after getting pains a couple of weeks ago, I had an internal examination atthe hospital which again was unbearable and only I just managed to get through it. The midwife said i was really tensing but didn't know how to stop myself.

In addition, when it comes to birth, I am petrified - i know i will have to have more internal examinations.

I am quite good at handling any other type of pain - it's just the feeling of my lady bits being being ripped apart. Is giving birth the same kind of horrible feeling (obviously multiplied) or a different kind of pain?

  • Does the Anti-D injection hurt (28 weeks pregnant)?

I'm such a baby with needles and keep getting worked up about going for my anit-d injection in a couple of days. Does it hurt in your arm?

I am really rubbish with the blood injections too - always jump when the needle goes in - i 'jumped' the needle out of my vein last time!!!

    Thanks in advance! :)

  • I think I have vertigo and am really tired - is it normal (27 weeks pregnant)?

Hi, im 27 weeks pregnant. Last week I went to hospital with upper abdo pains - really sharp. It turned out to be a urine infection so was given antibiotics and painkillers. They wanted to keep me in cause of the pain but i said i'd be fine at home.

Was starting to get better but when i woke Thursday - I had really bad vertigo type dizziness. I couldn't walk or see straight and have improved since but still have it and it's really getting me down. The room spins and my head bangs whenever i first lie down, move my head (while lying down), bend down or move my head fast.

Other than that feel really tired and 'not with it'. Im back in work this week - but it's killing me to keep going. Im scared to ask for more time off. Is it normal to feel like this and how can i make myself feel better?

  • Something for a weekend? Nice seaside resorts?

Me and my husband are lookign to go away for a weekend in a couple of weeks for our anniversary. We usually go Blackpool but want a change. We like seaside resorts with things to do (similar to Blackpool). I am pregnant so can't do anything too mad - but just things to do in the day - and not too expensive.

I don't fancy driving too far either - 3 hours max - we live in Wigan, North West of England.

    Thanks in advance
