I am 17 year old vegan who has worked at a buffet for almost 5 years. I dont take drugs anymore and I rarely drink now. I attend college (while still in High School) in Florida and plan on going to UCF to go pre-med in 2012. Im a huge Florida Panthers fan. Im addicted to coffee. (not joking)

  • Kris Versteeg, Brian Campbell, Jacob Markstrom and Tomas Fleischmann have looked like all stars?

All of which have been pleasant surprises for my team so I must ask, for your own team who has been the best surprise yet?

In addition regarding the hot play of some Panthers (such as the ones listed above, Campbell and etc.) who do you believe is the real deal? Im not making any real estimates until around the 20 game mark which is always a great measuring stick

BQ: Which team do you see not sending a skater to participate in the All Star game this year?

  • It's a horrible feeling having your favorite player traded?

Thinking of Booth no longer being a Panther sucks because he had such great emotions for the team (i.e bursting into tears when he heard he was being traded FROM the Panthers, you dont get that very often). He wasnt my favorite player because he was the most skilled but because the passion he had which will hopefully transition to the Canucks which leads me to the real thoughts

    - Who won this trade? Panthers dumped two salaries in turn for veterans with salaries ending this year. I honestly think Dale is making some wiggle room to try and get a big name like Zach Parise this offseason (he now has almost 15 million in space after this season). In return Canucks got a winger with potential that just hasnt been the same since Mike Richards.

My guess is he scores 25 goals and is a minus on the season.

  • So Alexander Galimov officially passed away today?

Now every player from the Lokomotiv roster has passed away. In addition the team will not at all participate in 2011-2012 and the Disaster Draft will not be taking place before this season.

    Your thoughts?

  • Im going to point out 2 times that I was wrong real quickly?

1st yesterday I said Alexander Galimov died. I heard a few stories that he died in the hospital almost immediately after arriving, but those were not true. He is still alive in critical condition and I, along with the rest of the hockey world, are really pulling for him to make it through this. I am really pulling for that flight engineer to entirely survive too. (I heard his burns were extremely less severe, but he has broken bones).

The second time I got Corey Perry and Bobby Ryan mixed up:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuhsH...

Anyways hearts and prayers go out to all those involved with Lokomotiv, its been a sad summer.

Real question: How many of the players that perished so horribly this summer have you seen play? In the Panthers uniform I have seen Salei, Skrastins and Belak (Skrastins more than the others) play and its weird to think of them gone now. I'm sure I've seen other players as the away team but I cant really take the time to think that list up.

  • Truly shocking and depressing news from across the KHL?

Lokomotiv's plane crashed around noon if you havnt heard yet and every player on the team died (one survived in critical condition, but supposedly died shortly after in the hospital). Players like Pavol Demitra, a once NHL star, and Karlis Skrastins, a once record holding "iron man" style defenseman will be missed truly.

What is your reaction to the tragedy?

KHL is near the same economic importance as the NHL, I'd put it somewhere between the NHL and AHL in overall importance. To have a whole team perish so horribly and "not have a team" (as one owner said) is catastrophic. How does a franchise like this recover and what do you do next?

What if something like this happened to a team of importance like an NHL franchise?

The hockey world will miss you all

  • In recent happenings (BQ too)?

With the sad and untimely deaths of : Boogard, Rypien and Belak we can conclude that every enforcer in the NHL is depressed and has to face therapy right? Wrong.

In Boogards case (Rypien is the most interesting, skip to him if your short on time) he had physical symptoms of pain from his job. Not so much emotion (dont even say he was drinking because he was depressed). Some oxycodon he took for physical pain accidently mixed with some booze and was a sad accident. **** happens and I think this was purely an accident.

Rypiens case is insanely interesting proving that the sports life isnt everything. Recently his girlfriend died in a car crash when she was 18 (idk what age he was) and that was the beginning of a sad ending for Rypien. After the gruesome rumors of seeing his bestfriend kill himself (via hanging) in his own home being the reason he was out much of the season, I can understand him grabbing the Minnesota fan with those mixed feelings. So add media stress to the horribly tragic deaths of the 2 most important people in your life and I cant blame you for killing yourself. Honestly.

As for Wade Belak his family recently came out talking about how he suffers from manic depression but was "taking control" before his death. Not much to say but something changed.

Anyways whats your take on this tragic summer? It seems to be big news I guess

  • What is the most currently overrated teams and the most underrated heading into the season?

My personal list - Toronto and New York (Rangers) are the most overrated.

Toronto is a better team, but they aren't 'good'. They're goaltending situation is the biggest hole. Between their two starting goaltenders their is 42 career wins in the NHL. Reimier had a good year last year, but Steve Mason won the Calder in his rookie year and look what happened to him. Add in the pressure of being the starter for Toronto and bam. Everyone is saying playoffs, I say 11th or 10th in East.

As for New York Rangers they have definitely improved with the signing of suddenly perennial all star Brad Richards (last year he was overrated and now he is the best center in the league? Dont get me wrong I love the guy because of 2004 though). They will make the playoffs of course but I just dont see them being this top gun team which takes the league by storm (remember everyone thought that about the Devils when Kovalchuk came to town). But I will say IF Gaborik can stay healthy I think he is a good shot at winning the Richard trophy.

    Underrated - Minnesota.

Add 2 of San Jose's best snipers + their best prospect for a troublesome defensemen and an a speedy center? I'd do that any day.

  • Why did the Penguins ever let go of Sergei Gonchar?

I know he had a crappy season with Ottawa last year, but I believe if he stayed with Pittsburgh he could of had atleast 45 point and a +. I think that is pretty agreeable right? The change in uniform took a toll on him. But why did he leave? Was it Pittsburgh or him? He was a vital part of the team with lots of veteran presence. If memory serves me correct was it to make cap space for Jordan Staal?

BQ: How did your team do over summer

  • Since much has changed in my last Y!A visit?

    1. Winnipeg Jets: Your thoughts? I like them, but it was very sudden moving them out of Atlanta.

    2. Gary Bettman all time low approval ratings. No surprise here

    3. I must ask the homer question of: Your thoughts on the new Panthers?

    4. Stanley Cup favorite? (I'm sticking with my last year choice of the Blues again)

    5. Biggest winners of free agency/draft?

Congrats to all Bruins fans and the Canucks came very far last season, give them credit (especially Kesler. That man deserves to win 1st at SOMETHING in that stadium by now)

    BQ: screw the BQ

  • Vancouver is not a bad team people....?

A presidents trophy winner and a stanley cup game 7 winner are very impressive. Not to mention the art ross trophy the past 2 seasons.

  • Congrats to all the Bruins fans out there?

The better team won in all honesty. I was rooting for Vancouver, Buffalo and Tampa since the start of the playoffs so i saw a few Boston games. I can say they deserved the cup in large part to Tim Thomas. I am hating the excuse that Luongo played bad in game 7, when the whole team played bad i n games 1-6 and didnt deserve any of those wins (they played decent in games 1, 2, and 5 but im not sure if they deserved to win games 1 and 2).

Congratulations Bruin's fans! You have been waiting a long time for that cup and your team worked pretty hard for it.

  • What is wrong with my Cory Catfish?

It has hardly moved since I got it, but now it wont stop swimming. All it has done the past few hours is swim around from corner to corner. All it is doing is swimming around, which is not normal for a bottom feeder. Is it normal behavior or is there something wrong?
