  • horse foaming at mouth when ridden (with a bit)?

is this considered a good thing or not? I have read conflicting opinions, some people say yes, but others say no it is a digestive problem and a reaction to having something in the horses mouth (as in a bit) that they cannot swallow.

    thanks

if a foals mother dies (not necessarily during giving birth..maybe later on) in a wild herd of horses, do any of the other mares look after that foal? or is it just abandoned?

  • has anyone ever known a colts behaviour get worse after gelding?

my friend has a few horses, she had a colt recently gelded (10 weeks ago), however he is still behaving like a stallion and has even ran at my friend a couple of times. (he didnt do this before) the only thing he doesnt do is actually try and mount any mares. if anything his behaviour has got worse than it was before gelding. my friend is very experienced and does not take any nonsense from her horses, they are always taught good ground manners and respect for space etc. this one has always been a bit more over the top and almost obsessed with the mares. if his behaviour does not get better he will probably end up going to the big field in the sky (she would never pass him on to any1 else) has any1 had a similiar experience? and how long could it take for him to settle down?

    thanks
