11 AnswersPhilosophy8 years agoWhy are there obstructing ads on wikipedia?
Lately on wikipedia, I've been getting ads that obstruct the left side of the entries. They tend to be the seedier type of ads so I doubt it's based on my search history (been getting plenty of those too, thanks google!). They often pop up after a few seconds. Is this some sort of virus? It only appears on wikipedia.
4 AnswersWikipedia9 years agoHow to do a quick stop at the Grand Canyon?
I am driving with a friend from LA to Dallas, TX. I would like to do a "quick" stop at the Grand Canyon since this is the only chance I'll be driving by in the foreseeable future (I do not live anywhere near the Southwest). We're mostly taking I-40 Eastbound. I know it's about an hour drive out of the way but I only hope to spend an hour or two there and then be on our way. I just want to see it, take it all in, take a few pictures and be off. We can't take any more than two days for the total drive.
Is this feasible? And if so, what's the best way to go about it.
5 AnswersPhoenix10 years agoDo I need to require a liability waiver?
I am taking some teenagers on a 4 night camping trip in about a month. It's not gonna be real rugged but there are still inherent risks to being outdoors and hours away from immediate help. And while I'm certified in first aid and I'm trained to handle the injuries that could happen, I'm wondering if I should require their parents to sign a liability waiver. Most of their parents already know me and have no problem with me taking their kids away for that long. I just worry that if something does happen, I'd be held liable. I've signed a lot of waivers for outdoor companies and such. Since this is a personal trip, I'm not under any umbrella. Not even with the church I know most of these boys from.
4 AnswersCamping1 decade agoShould I wear black in Spain in the summer?
I'll be travelling to Spain in August: Madrid, Barcelona, Pamplona, among others. I'd like to have clothes that don't tell everyone I'm American. I've read that Europeans usually wear black and dark colors. Will it be too hot to wear black?

I've been given the graph of a wave function. I'll try to describe it - it has a deep sharp well at x = -1, goes up to zero at the origin and gradually goes up to 3 at x = 4 before slowly going back down. The function goes to zero at both ends.

1 AnswerMathematics1 decade agoCan I rent a bus without a driver?
I need to transport 20-30 kids over a weekend. I and one other driver with the appropriate licenses and endorsements are willing to drive so I was wondering if it was possible to simply rent a bus and drive it ourselves. This would at least ensure that there was no odd part of our group and we wouldn't need to hassle with finding the driver lodging. Does anyone know of a business that loans buses like that along with providing appropriate insurance?

I made a fission simulator in java using Japplet and JPanel. It works fine except it slows down when there gets to be several thousand particles moving on the screen. I've tried optimizing it but it still slows down. I've decided in order to view it in real time, I will have to somehow save each screen and play it back at normal speed.
How can I go about doing this?
