  • survival of the fittest question?

ok, so i was at this party recently where i extunguished a match with my mouth much to the amasement of my friends! i came to learn the trick through messing around with fire which i have done all my life. Now my question is, if my trick is decreasing my chance of survival (i am putting myself at risk by not putting the appropriate precautions in place to prevent myself from burning my body), why were my friends impressed? Surely they would disslike the trick as it shows i am not a good mate?

  • physics help EMF and internal resistance?

hi, can you please explain how to answer these two questions:

    1) A cell in a deaf aid supplies a current of 25mA through a resistance of 400ohms. When the wearer turns up the volume, the resistance is changed to 100ohms and the current rises to 60mA. What is the emf and internal resistance of the cell?

    2) A battery is connected in series with a variable resistor and an ammeter. When the resistance of the resistor is 10ohms, the current is 2.0A. When the resistance is 5ohms the current is 3.8 A. Find the emf and internal resistance of the battery.

Thankyou so much if you help :)

  • A-S level maths help- factorising?

hi, just a small uncertainty that i could do with clarifying.

    -1(x-5)(x+2)=0

what are the two values of x? If it was just (x-5)(x+2)=0, i know x would equal 5 and -2 so i suppose what im trying to ask is what effects does the -1 outside the brackets have on the x-values, no difference or a difference, in which case what.

    Thanks in advance :)

  • a-s level maths help?

hi, just a nagging question which i need some help on.

    -x = plus or minus root 12

what does x equal? i am con fused with this because the root 12 is origionally plus OR minus so i dont know what effect dividing it by -1 has on it. Does it make it minus root 12 or is it still plus OR minus root 12?

    Thanks in advance :)
