Guaranteed Eternal Sanctuary Man
Formerly Suaranteed Maternal Ganctuary Eeyan, and even earlier Guarateed Eternal Sanctuary Man. I'm a reg on R&P, although my badge has been swiped for reasons which aren't particularly clear at the moment. Hm. Funny. I was -disGUSted- by my badge when I first got it, now I'm complaining that it's gone. Oh weil. I'm very pretentious. Because I'm aware of my pretentiousness, however, I'll often write out long sequences of pretentious adjectives to describe things, or put hyphens/stars/those squiggly lines that Silver Rose Wolf uses all the time around words I've written which are particularly pretentious. I'm on the path to self-awareness, right, sugaree? I enjoy a lot of art rock, experimental rock, alternative rock, electronic music of any kind, indie rock, some jazz, funk, soul, plus plenty of classic pop
What's been going on in the godforsaken land of R&P since last year? Also, uh, favorite Laurie Anderson song?
Well, I really have no intention of permanently returning to this oft-nightmarish netherworld of good taste, arguments, and spectacle, but I figure it couldn't be *too* unhealthy to check up on things every now and again.
So how've all of you been doing? I'm healthy, in a generally good mood most of the time, listening to music I probably hated when I was still a shameless proghead.
Has there been any needless drama since I left? That's always fun to observe from a distance.
And... uhm... favorite Laurie Anderson tune?
BQ: Oh god how I've missed the BQs.
BQ2: They usually weren't even questions.
BQ3: And when they WERE questions, they usually had little to no relevance with what was being discussed.
BQ4: Favorite Laurie Anderson album?

That's something I don't wanna catch.

2 AnswersPolls & Surveys9 years agoTim Buckley, right...?
How many listens does it take before I start 'understanding' it? I'm getting a groovy vibe from Happy Sad, but my mind is far from blown. It's kind of like a less pastoral version of Astral Weeks, which is one of my all-time favorite albums, so...I guess it's just a matter of time, huh?
What do you think of Tim?
BQ: Favorite album of his?
BQ2: Jeff?

2 AnswersPolls & Surveys10 years agoSo not everything Radiohead did before The Bends was ungodly horrible, right?
Some good Pixies-esque stuff:

They had some solid acoustic stuff:

And the orchestra in this song is pretty fantastic:

So my MQ would be...how would you rate those couple of tunes up there on a scale between 1 and 10?
BQ: Any other forgotten Radiohead stuff you'd like to share?

9 AnswersPolls & Surveys10 years agoWhat's the strangest musical experience you've ever had?
So a couple hours ago, I was kicked out of a community park (not high-priority, but they need to make sure everything's in order and nobody's causin' a ruckus anyhow) by a cop. It was dusk, the park closes at dusk, whatever. We just had to grin and bear it, or so we figured. An hour and a half later, the three of us were analyzing quotes from Leonard Cohen songs, discussing our favorite Coltrane albums, talking about interpreting music and how music is meant to be performed (and how you shouldn't let restrictions like how something is 'meant' to be performed keep you from performing it however you damn well please), how 'rap' is a vocal art and 'hip hop' is not, how art is a form of personal feedback to remind a person that he is indeed a person, with character and creativity, and...so on. Yes, with the very same cop. It ended up being one of the greatest experiences of my life thus far.
So how 'bout you? C'mon, don't be shy.
