  • Any help with a problem with stress during a theatre performance?

When I'm on stage, I feel great. I'm performing, in character, having fun, etc. But as soon as I walk offstage (my parts over) I get a HUGE migraine. I mean huge. I'm sick to my stomach, feeling queasy, about to throw up whatever.

Then when it's my turn to get back on stage, all these feeling are wiped away. I'm feeling great and in character again. I'm having fun and doing great.

I get off stage and the same feelings and pain come rushing back. I don't understand this. I'm not a very nervous person. I mean, like everyone else, I feel a little pinch of fear and worry before I get on, but this is too much. I love acting but I hate that this happening.

Any help or advice, or similar stories? Am I driving myself crazy?

  • Having serious issues with abusive mother. Help?

I don't know what to do anymore. She hits me, she threatens me. She tries to control me. She holds me to unrealistic standards and it's weighing on me too much.

I told the counselor about it, she flat out said they can't do anything unless they have proof. Bruises, marks, etc. She smacks/punches me around sometimes but it never leaves a mark. I've talked to about 3 counselors/therapist and they all say the same thing.

I'm 15. I've been thinking of running away. I have two sisters I'd leave behind, but I don't know what else to do. I'm afraid they'd track me down if I ran away, and I wouldn't have enough money.

Should I run? Or should I deal with it until I'm 18? In my head I know I'm strong and I could deal with it but deep down I'm afraid I'll crack under pressure and turn into who she wants me to be. Her.

  • Why every night do I feel I'm going to die?

Not like killing myself, like I'm going to die. It can be a stomachache or a headache, and I believe that these are all signs of my impending death. I have no other reason. Am I depressed?

  • Why am I craving so much food all of a sudden?

I'm not pregnant or anything, but lately I've been wanting to eat more. Is it depression? I have been feeling down sometimes in the past few months. But I feel really hungry right now, and I'm not depressed now. I do skip breakfast a lot. Is that it? I also don't always get enough sleep.

  • Is common sense and reasoning a better approach to love?

I've been seeing a lot of relationships fail because people are always choosing to "follow their heart" or their instincts when it comes to love. No one seems to realize that not all people have good instincts.

  • What should I choose to be when I'm older?

I know you might all say, "Oh, you're just a kid; too young". But I"m 14 and I'd really like to choose an area I can focus on and choose to excel in when I'm older.

I like writing, dancing, filming, photography, acting, singing, and pyschology. I'm pretty good in all of these areas. I don't think this is at all healthy. I don't want to be a jack of all trades, and a master of none.

By the way, out of all of these I love writing, acting, and directing film the best. But I'm probably the best at writing. Or acting. Ugh I don't know!!

  • Should a writers' voice come naturally, or be established?

As in, a writer tries to make up their own voice (their style of writing) one day, or should it come naturally after they have enough writing experience. The answer may seem obvious, but I want to see why everyone thinks it should come naturally, when not everyone's natural voice (in writing, of course) is at all good.

  • Have any other writers found that scheduling their writing really helps?

I've found that when I schedule my writing really helps me out. Before I used to just writer "whenever I got an idea" or "whenever the mood strikes", and after a while, I realized that started happening less and less. Humans aren't robots, and sometimes (although I truly enjoy writing) I'll go weeks without coming up with anything or being too lazy to write. But when I forced myself to get up every other day and add to my story I got better ideas, and was more creative. Just wondering whether it was the same for everyone.

  • How do you change a 2 dimensional character to a 3 dimensional one?

I'm afraid my characters are too Mary Sue-ish.

  • Would you rather be the girl/guy all the girls/guys already had, or the one they regret not having?

By "have" I mean be in a relationship with, not just sex :D

  • Do you think that France and Britain can handle Libya on their own?

I was just wondering...Because in my opinion we should only pull out (no pun int) of Libya if they can handle it ourselves. They ARE our allies, and they help us when we need them. It'd be hypocritical to not help.

  • How can I have my protagonist fall in love without it being sappy or cliche?

I've read so many books where the girl falls for a guy just because of looks and things.

"I read all of the Twilight books and agree with you guys, so I'll probably pass on this series. The nice thing about reading this sort of book along side my 12 year old is that we can discuss the different types of characters in the books. Twilight was an excellent way for me to broach the subject of ridiculous infatuations based on nothing but beauty and a perfect example of a brainless female who was utterly helpless without the love and guidance of a man in her life and how pathetic that was. Here was Jacob, who was a great guy, a good friend and she could have lived a long and very happy life with him - ALIVE, normal, and loved - just the way she was. Yet she has to go for the bad boy, get knocked up, and turn into a vampire before she feels that she is anything important or has any power. Way to teach the girls that they will never be anything until some immortal comes and saves them from their pathetic little lives, Meyer, and thank you for showing them that they have to change everything about themselves to find true love - even DIE for it." --a review I read on Amazon

How do I NOT do that?

  • What's your favorite writing cliche?

Some cliche's are annoying; some aren't.

    1. What's your favorite, that you like to write about or read about?

    2. What's your least favorite?

I know some of you will go on to say that a person can write about ANYTHING and make it good. Well, lets be real: most can't.

  • Is writing fan faction a good way to practice writing?

Or is it just for people who can't come up with their own ideas? Does it stump your creativity, or expand it?

To practice writing, are you better off just making up your own stories?

  • Would this be a huge problem in my writing technique?

When I was looking through my story, I realized that I don't use the word "said" or any variation of that word when someone is talking or about to talk. Usually I just put what they're saying down within the paragraphs, without really pointing out that they're saying something. Is that a problem?

And the main reason why I haven't gone through and fixed it is because I'm afraid that if I do it'll come out like poor writing, since this is how I usually write.

  • Can an undeveloped writer correct their own grammar mistakes?

Say they went through some of their writing, looking for mistakes. They read through all of it and found none. Do you think that maybe they just missed a bunch of things? Should they get an actual editor, or try to find all the mistakes themselves?

  • What is your favorite Pixar movie?

For me, Ratatouille and Finding Nemo were the best.

  • Does anyone else feel the way I did about Pixar's UP?

The beginning was so poignant and beautiful--while the rest of the movie seemed average. I bawled my eyes out when his wife died. Is it my fault the rest of the movie seemed disappointing?
