  • Changing MJ/kg to MJ/litre?

Is there anyway to know energy density in litres from kilograms? For instance if you know kerosene's energy density is 43.1 MJ/kg, is there anyway to know it's energy density in MJ/litre?

  • How does a speaker on an electronic circuit work?

When you have a little bread board and a simple circuit, what happens within the speaker that causes it to make sound? Is it the amount of electrons or current that passes through the speaker which make it vibrate at a faster rate giving it higher frequencies?

    1 AnswerOther - Electronics9 years ago
  • What effect do resistors have on speakers?

On an electronic circuit such as this one (or unless there's a general effect for any resistor with respect to a speaker) -- http://www.circuitstoday.com/dark-detector-circuit -- what exactly do resistors do to the outcome of the sound generated from the speaker.

I've alternated between using a MegaOhm, KiloOhm and Ohm resistor and the sound has been different pitches/had higher or lower frequencies.

Also I've done the same thing with the capacitor, I know what capacitors and resistors do themselves, but what do they do with respect to a speaker?

I see other people do it all the time. How do you, in the comment section, comment a picture of a meme? They paste the hyperlink of the picture and the picture shows up below the hyperlink in the comment. But how do you find these memes?

  • English Persuasive Essay Guidance, Please?

If anyone can please give me an outline on how to structure this thing... It would be a big help.

For English we are to write a persuasive essay in exam conditions and it's between 500-700 words on Human Rights. We are given a sheet of paper which has different photographs, quotes and cartoons skits which describe/show the trouble with Human Rights. We are to choose one or maybe 2 of these pictures, quotes or cartoon skits and write.... not exactly about them, but they are the topic of the essay.

Example: We don't say "This picture represents this, this and that and portrays the attitude of such and such.... etc"

We are to persuade our teacher to basically be emotional towards what she reads.

I just need to know how to structure this thing so I know where to put what.

  • Mantis Shrimp Info Please?

I love marine aquariums and I'd just like to know a little about these keeping and/or caring for these creatures if I ever decide to own one in the future.

I know they are extremely territorial and basically don't go well with any other invertebrate (as far as I know), ESPECIALLY their own kind. I know basically the biology of them, but I'd like to know how big they get or how big the most common one gets and what size aquarium they need and if they are a very sensitive marine species which is easily prone to disease or anything. I've also watched youtube videos and people have housed them in with fish?... Is their some kind of rule here like... only get a fish that has attitude (damselfish), or a fish that basically it can't overpower?

Are they known to be fairly common as larvae in live rock?

  • Marine Hitchhiker crab ID help!?

So I got this piece of live rock and there has been a tiny little crab crawl out of it, however it's grown twice it's size now which is about 2.5cm for the carapace width. It's colour is very pale and it doesn't have any noticeable patterns on it. It's one of those crabs which the last 5th pair of legs are formed as flat paddles or swimmers. The entire crab including it's claws and legs are a light creamy colour or fog-like colour. It's claws aren't overly large or overly small. and it doesn't have a distinctive carapace shape of any sort. Come to think of it he's basically the same colour as the calcium carbonate skeleton of coral.

Sorry I cannot provide a picture, the crab doesn't exactly come out and let me take a photo. Like a lot of crabs, he only comes out at night.

Even if you can't identify this crab, I'd like to know some general rules about hitchhiking crabs such as; avoid crabs with hairy legs or completely hairy bodies, large pointed claws or black tipped claws. I've also heard that crabs which have swimmers turn out to be rather predatory.

I have a 15 gallon biological filtrated aquarium (no sump, there's a big filter compartment behind the main display part of the tank). The crab is too large to crawl through the filter inlet vent and the same goes for the filter outlet.

I have a heap of live rock in their, easily equal to the volume of water. The inhabitants include two ocellaris clownfish about 2 inches long and another damsel fish which I actually do not know the ID of. But the closest I can pin it to is a yellow tail blue damsel about 2.5 inches long. I also have the odd small hermit crab here and there.

Also a stab in the dark, does anyone know of a crab which has the colouration of a black-orange mottled pattern? <--- another crab I just discovered. He be about 1cm in width.

  • Opening joke for an english speech. Any ideas?

So for grade 10 english we have to make a magazine of some sort and we have to do a speech to present/promote our magazine. They say it's good to start off with some kind of joke or anecdote, but I just can't think of anything appropriate for a speech you're about to do about a magazine.

Any ideas on how to start it?

  • Why do my eyes water randomly every-now-and-then?

It started a day ago, on Wednesday morning and out of the blue I will get the feeling in my nose when you feel a sneeze coming on, but it's concentrated more in my right nostril. Then after about 2-3 seconds of the feeling in my nose, my eyes will start to water; my right eye more than my left. I haven't noticed any patterns to it, it just happens.... anytime, willy nilly. The watering only last for a max of about 4 seconds, but sometimes it'll happen soon after just occuring.. or just once and for a while won't happen again...

Any ideas on what might cause this?

  • My Soft Coral Gone Skinny?

My coral has gone all skinny. I don't know what type of coral it is... but it's like a mushroom coral but without the stalk and the feeding tentacles . And one night I fed the coral some special coral food that you drop in the water and the following morning my coral had thinned out. I highly doubt the food is the problem, but just in case...

Anyone else ever had a soft coral which had gone skinny?

  • Please give me as much help to find this song as soon as possible >:|?

I just remembered a song I used to like so much some years back... maybe 4 years back. I can't remember a tune or any guaranteed lyrics, but during the chorus I do believe there are the words "What happened to the ghost that...... something something something."

A guy sings it and it's theme is kind of sadness (just how the lyrics are), and I think I remember it's to do with not being with a girl anymore.

I know that's hardly any information at all, but if you give me names of what you think the song might be, it'll just click when I read the right one.

Please help! Even when I was listening to it years ago, it wasn't a brand new song.

  • Tiny slug like creatures all over my marine tank's glass..?

I cannot give a picture so I will describe as best I can..

I have found these very small, at largest 3mm long and 1mm wide, slug like organsims on the glass of my marine tank, I only found them this morning as soon as I turned the light on... so probably suggesting they only come out at night. They are basically flat and are cloudy in colour, sort of like a smog colour. And their heads are round and their body shape is a lot like a pill basically, except the end of them have cut outs of a semi-circle; so it looks like they have 2 tails on each side at the end. (although they are probably not tails...)

This is about as bad as you can get, but picutre the 'c's are attatched perfectly to '=' and that's a basic picture of what they look like... -----> c=c

I have a 20 gallon and there are at least 50 of them casually slithering about on the glass. They move about as fast as a slug their size would... PLEASE HELP IDENTIFY THEM!!!!
