Hi. I got into a fenderbender in Santa Monica, CA last week which was my fault. I bumped the car in front of me, scratching his back bumper. It was clearly scratched, but there was no structural damage or anything serious. No one in my car or his car was injured.

He has since gotten 2 quotes for repairs. They've come out to about $950 and $1150. The link to his $950 quote from his dealer can be seen here:

Now honestly, it's the kind of minor damage that I wouldn't even consider repairing, but I understand that it's my fault and I need to pay up. I also would rather not use my insurance. Do these quotes look reasonable to everyone? His estimates have come from the dealer and a "certified mechanic." Is it okay if I suggest a repair shop, or is this not how things are done. I'm pretty sure he's rich and probably wouldn't accept his car being worked on by anywhere "shady."

I'm supplying a replacement engine and transmission for my 2002 Saturn SC2. How much should I expect to pay for their installation and a repair to the radiator? The price I got from the mechanic was $1300. I got the engine and transmission together for $850 (they both have about 60k miles on them). Is this a decent deal? I'm in Upland, CA. Thanks!
