  • A problem with programs not opening after getting a virus?

    My pc had a virus on it. I had it professionally removed. I am aware that viruses often change your pc's settings. Is this what is causing the problem? Mostly everything opens, but I am unable to print anything and I cannot open Yahoo Messenger.

    When I try to print, it starts and cancels itself before the printer even gets the job. When I try to start messenger, it says, "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

    I also am unable to open or use my Windows Security Center. I noticed the problems occured after I got a prompt telling me to activate my windows firewall. Now, I am unable to open it and make any changes.

    I have purchased a new computer, but it won't arrive for some time and I need access to these features as soon as possible. If anyone gives me advice that leads to a solution, I will be picking a best answer and giving 10 points. Thanks in advance
