  • Need help understanding something in McCaffrey's "On Dragonwings" (Pern series)!?

So I just started reading On Dragonwings (the first McCaffrey book I've read so far), and there are some things that don't really make any sense to me and I'd appreciate some help.

So she wrote that the journey to Pern took 15 years, but most people spent that time in deepsleep. Now there's this girl Sorka and her brother Brian, and they're described as little children. The part that doesn't really make any sense is that Sorka has some memories of the farm she used to live on (in Ireland as far as I know), but that way she would have to be at least 18, but she's talking about toys and I googled a bit and it said that she was 12 at the time of Landing.

And she talks to Sean about how she and Brian pretended to be space adventurers when they first set out, and how her brother is much younger than they are. So he definitely would have to be at least 15. But it says he's a little boy!! And as far as I know, Sorka's parents spent pretty much the entire time in deepsleep, so there was no sex and getting pregnant (which - if the case - still wouldn't explain how Sorka could remember something from a farm she - in this scenario - never lived on).

So I guess my question is: Is deepsleep like being frozen and defrosted again, so you're basically the same age and look the same, even though it´s 15 years later, or does this just not make any sense and the author didn't really think about it??

Or did I skip something while reading and this was actually explained and I just missed it???

    Please! Can somebody help me??

  • Which movie is this scene from?

I have this movie scene in my head where a bit of a weird guy (maybe even the bad guy, and maybe with a hat - thought I'm not quite sure about that) has a white bunny (no, not a cat!) in his arms, and strokes it in this really strange manner. I have no idea as to what film it is or who the actor is or if it's animated.

Does anyone know which movie it is I'm talking about??

    Please tell me!
