2 AnswersMathematics8 years agoI have an 18ft bayrunner with a 48horse Johnson. Motor runs like a top just cant get it up on plane.?
It just recently started doing this... i used to get about 30 mph out of her now i only get about 12. Any ideas? Feels like im dragging anchor or something. Put a brand new vortex prop on so i know its not spun. The motor sounds like its reving up all the way but the speed just isnt there. Also for about a year the warning horn continuously sounds...if i turn the key back just a hair it stops. HELP!
1 AnswerBoats & Boating8 years ago1990 Johnson 48 spl feeling a little sluggish?
My 1990 Johnson 48 spl is losing power. It will idle all day long but after trolling all day and begin to head back to the harbor, where i used to get about 30 mph out of her now i only get about 12... even with just me in the boat it feels like was packing 10 people. Just feels really sluggish. Its mounted on an 18ft bayrunner...it used to be really snappy now not so much. Any ideas? Thanks!
1 AnswerBoats & Boating8 years agoI have an 18 foot Bayrunner with a 1990 Johnson 48 spl.?
I recently spun the hub in the prop it was an 11 3/4 x17. I ordered a new one and received a 12x17. Before I replaced it my boat would do about 20 knots... with the new one on I'm only getting about 11 knotts. Anyone have any ideas? The motor runs like a top but just doesn't have the same top end that it had before.
