I live in WV and some people just won a lawsuit against a wind farm for several reasons, viewshed, birds, coal. I beleive a coal fired power plant would devistate a viewshed as would mountain top removal but we can not use this to stop either in court. The pollution the power plants put out kills more fish, birds and other animals than windmills do and I wont even go into the health effects of humans plus mountain top removal completely wipes out thousands of acres of fish, birds and wildlife. But we can not use this in court either it is only a very small part of the process and we get no public input from the local residents in the area. Should the people who got to use this as a means of stopping the wind project be allowed to use this as a means of stopping them since the other people in the state can not and since they don't want it put in there backyard should they also have to stop using electricity.
