An increasing number of people are abandoning their pets in my area when they move. How can we save the pets?
Due to the economic crisis a huge quantity of pets are being left behind when their owners move. The animal advisory counsel has asked us to come up with suggestions NOT INVOLVING EUTHANASIA to deal with the overload of abandoned animals in our area. If you have any suggestions, any at all, please feel free to answer. I will be giving credit to screen names on the suggestion forms I am sending in, unless you state that you would prefer I didn't.

My decorative plants are doing lovely, but I have two herbs, lemon thyme and cilantro in a 4" by 10" rectangle planter with some english ivy in the middle. The cilantro is suffering immensely! They may be overplanted, but I had the same setup last spring and they flourished. Does anyone have any suggestions to save my meager balcony garden?
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoAcclimating turtles to each other...?
I have three juvenile turtles. One is a yellow bellied slider(3.5 in.), one is a eastern paint(2.75 in), and the last is a river cooter(2 in.). The cooter and the paint have been housed together without problem in a 20 gallon aquarium, and the slider has been in a 20 gallon long aquarium on his own. I have been toying with the idea of trading in the two 20s for a 33 long (same length and width as a 55 gallon), however the slider takes an aggressive stance towards the paint(not the cooter though) when I try to house them together in the 20 long. I am hoping that with the larger accomodations, they might coexist. Also, I am thinking that if I keep the smaller turtles in the 33 by themselves and then add the slider once they have established themselves, he might not be so territorial towards them. Does anyone have any good tips to help me acclimate my turtles to each other?
