I really hope someone can help, I saw this film around twenty years ago on the TV, one of the best films I have ever seen.. here goes.

I believe the film is Turkish with English Subtitles.

It's about a man and his wife living in a small town in Turkey (I think), They're poor, and so the man takes an extra job at night rounding up and killing stray dogs. His wife wants a more western lifestyle, so he strives to get more money to provide. His intention is to buy her a transistor radio which he saves up for over months. On the last night that he has to work to earn the las\yt money he needs for the radio, but his wife begs him not to go to work.

She has decided with her friend that if her husband can't provide for her , then she will go with her friend to Istanbull and earn money as a Prostitute. The next morning after his night shift, he waits outside the electrical shop until the store opens. He buys the radio, but when he arrives home, his wife has left him for a life in Istanbul..
