My son has been breastfed for 10 months. Our pedi recently suggested that we put him on formula because of his low weight gain (he was in the 50th perc now in 25th) he's 11 months and 21 lbs. He's been on formula for 2 weeks now and he's started shaking his head side to side and he's the energizer bunny (never tires). I know some of this could be developmental, but honestly I've never been comfortable with formula. Has anyone given a baby cows milk before one?

I want to teach my son and future children about the simple things in life. My husbands family is very materialistic. MIL is a shopper and that's kinda how she expresses her love to her kids, but the younger ones (not my husband) have turned out overly materialistic. My MIL buys stuff all the time for our ten month old; I mean bags and bags every time I see her and that's fine now that he doesn't understand, but I want him to enjoy playing outside, the arts, music, not when can he get the new pair of Jordan's, video games, clothes, etc. I know I sound crazy, but how do I enforce this without sounding/ being ungrateful?
