  • How do I change the user name that appears on XP log in screen?

    Someone gave me a computer but I cannot remove their name from either the Log On To Windows screen OR their name on the folder in Documents and Settings.

    I went into user accounts and changed the administrator name and password to my name but I still have to log onto windows on start up as this person as their name appears automatically.

    When I tried to rename their folder under documents and settings I got an error message that said "John Doe is a windows system folder. It cannot be removed or renamed".

    Does anyone know how to remove the old owner's name from this computer? Other than reformatting (not an option at this time)?

  • Is it possible to move everything but Windows to a new partition?

    I would like to partition my hard drive and move everything, except Windows XP, over to the new partition. Is this possible? Or will I have problems with the registry? My goal is Windows on C: and all my programs, files, etc on D: so I can easily back them up and reinstall if need be. Thanks!
