What model is my yamaha flute?
I bought a Yamaha flute today, I think it is a professional one, but I'm not sure.. the serial number is 307303... It has a sterling silver head, and I believe a silver plated body... I'm not 100% sure... The top of the body says "Yamaha established in 1887 made in Japan... 385II" (its 385 w/ a roman numeral 2..). I'm not sure if the model is a 385... because on yamaha's site, it is not listed in their 300 series (which are intermediate flutes)... and I think the dealer said it was professional, but I forget... So please help me!!! :) thanks!!
4 AnswersPerforming Arts1 decade agoAre professional yamaha flutes good?
I am a junior in high school, and I am looking into a better flute. I am going to a music store tonight to try some lower end professional or upper end intermediate flutes. On Craigslist a lady is selling a professional yamaha flute, and she used to be a professional flutist, and it is the one she used. She doesn't give the model in the description, so I don't know what it is. All she says is that it is sterling silver, open holed, b foot, and inline g (and I have played inline before, and do better at covering the holes with it, on ofsets, i either have my finger too low, or too high...). But my question is, in general, are yamaha professional flutes good?
Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerPerforming Arts1 decade agoWhat are good brands of flutes for an intermediate to advanced flutist?
I am a junior (just finished sophomore year) in high school. I have been playing flute for 7 years now, and am the most advanced at my school. I want to go to college for music education and want to get a much better flute than what I have now. I have an Armstrong, and a Symphony (which is a great sounding, junky generic brand). The Armstrong I believe is a 102 or 104 model, but I'm not sure, and the Symphony is open holed, c foot, offset g, and split e. What models would be good for me? My parents are making me pay for this flute, and my budget is a max of $600, and I am shopping on ebay, amazon, and craigslist (will go to fluteworld if they have one in my budget). I want an open holed, b foot, with inline or offset g, and split e (and maybe the c# trill key).
Thanks!
1 AnswerPerforming Arts1 decade agoAre vito alto saxes good? or is yamaha better?
I am a junior (just finished sophomore year) in high school who wants to go to college for

Thanks!
1 AnswerJazz1 decade agoAre Yamaha and Armstrong saxes good?
I am looking into buying a saxophone. I want one that isn't too expensive. I want to go to college for music education, and am getting a head start on learning all instruments. I just finished 10th grade, and I play (in the order I learned them) flute, piccolo, oboe, trumpet, piano, guitar, saxophone, and french horn. I need a sax that will last a long time, and won't be expensive (budget of $600 max). The sax would not get used too often. It would not be used for marching band or anything, just at home, for fun, and maybe an ensemble every now and then...
Thanks!
