  • Has anyone had any luck getting a Gmail account restored?

Recently one of my two Gmail accounts had been stolen from me, and I tried to recover it but my security question was changed to something in Portuguese. I've gone through the recovery application, and the first time they said they couldn't give me back my email since they were unsure it was me. I then went and dug up the invitation I used to sign up for Gmail, and re-sent the application, but have gotten no response.

Has anyone ran into this before? Did you get your account back? Should I not even hold my breath and email all my friends and family to tell them to delete all emails from that account from now on rather than for the time being?

  • What do I do about this job situation?

Back in June I had been out of work, and accepted a job despite having negative feelings about the manager I was to be working for. I knew back then that I would not like this man, but due to the need for a job, pressure from my family, and some talking with the recruiter that lined it all up, I took the job despite my feelings.

It's now March, and I can't stand this man. I haven't had a good nights sleep due to his method of motivation is keeping a gun to our head and treating me like a child. If we do well, we're always in trouble anyway. The man is a workaholic, and due to the long hours he keeps, he forces us to keep these hours also.

I've already began looking for a new job two months ago, but am having problems in this economy. I can't take this man any longer. I'm at my limit, and just want to be done with it. Keeping this job is killing me.

Any suggestions? I need to get out of this place ASAP!

  • My computer is running hotter than normal.?

When I first got my HP a1740n, I never heard the fan come on much at all. I only heard it kick on while watching an occasional movie or when playing certain games on it. Now it kicks on when Anti virus is running a scan, I'm simply listening to MP3s, and even now as I'm just typing on yahoo.

I've checked for dust, and blew it out several times with an air can. I've even gone as far as leaving the side panel off while using the PC in order to reduce the heat inside the casing, and it still runs hot. With the side open, I've even has a desk fan blowing at it, and it still gets hot.

This computer never did this for the first year I had it. Any ideas as to how I can fix this? I really don't want my PC to consistently overheat on me.

  • How do you get people in lower class inner city areas to try wine?

If you had a store in a lower class income area, with a demographic that drinks a lot of Brandy. Considering Brandy is made from grapes, how would you get these guys to try wine as opposed to liquor?

The owner will not open up a bottle to allow customers to taste. Salesmen from our distributors put up shelf talkers and point of sale, and even a sign in the window.

Any ideas on how I can get some customers in the store to give up liquor and try something new?

  • A question for Sociologists regarding religion.?

Ok, I got into a debate the other day that interested me. As you know the Bible is subject to interpretation all the time, so to me, this was an interesting interpretation:

Person A: "A woman does not have the right to choose, because that child is part of God's divine plan. To kill that life inside her is simply murder for that reason."

Person B: "So you mean to tell me, that under no circumstances does a woman have the right to choose?"

    Person A: "That's correct."

Person B: "Because that child is part of God's divine plan, right?"

Person A: "That is also correct."

Person B: "So then if a woman is raped, it's because God wanted her to carry that child in his divine plan? So in turn God was the one who then would have had to of sent her the rapist, meaning God condones rape? It makes sense since 'Thou shall not rape' isn't listed in the commandments. But don't you find it odd that God would send a rapist into somebody's life like that when inmates in our prison system don't even tolerate rapists?"

Person A: "Well the rapist decided to rape the woman of his own free will."

Person B: "How is that possible? How can you have a 'divine plan' which we seem to follow no matter what we do, but also have free will. It's a double standard. It's a typical belief that we live life according to the plans of a supreme being, but when we do what society deems wrong, it was of our free will. Being a non-religious person, that is nothing more than a tool for a spin doctor to use. How do you have what sociology calls 'Nature vs. Nurture' existing at the same time? It makes no sense."

I overheard this yesterday, and would be interested to see how a Sociologist would interpret that.

  • Have you ever had a pre-employment physical and drug test?

How does it work? Do they make you take the physical or drug test first?

I've done drug tests, and I've done physicals, but not for pre-employment. I kind of feel uncomfortable because the doctor isn't my own.

  • What do you do if you accepted a job that is not right for you?

About three months ago I was hurting for a job. I made the mistake of taking the first thing that came along. This job requires longer hours than I had anticipated, and getting calls to drive into the city all all crazy hours (on weeknights and weekends). Plus I hate the commute.

I would like to resign, but I'd like to do it with tact. I feel that the people at this company have been very nice to me, but the company is not a good fit for me.

  • Why do people ask questions here, when they need to bring their pet to a vet?

It just seems like common sense to me. Your dog seems to have no control of it's bladder, your cat is dragging it's hind legs, your hamster keeps falling over and can't walk straight...

When a pet is in agony, and needs medical attention, why do people come here? It's not like these answers could help. Think about... even if a vet answered the question, how would an untrained person apply treatment?

Does doing this make sense to anyone?

  • Why do some fundamentalists refer to creationism as a theory?

A theory is an explanation of a set of related observations or events based upon proven hypotheses and verified multiple times by detached groups of researchers.

If there is no data to support Creationism as a theory, why is it called a theory when it's really a hypothesis at most?

  • What's more important, love or religion?

Recently, I had a friend who was talking to a girl, and I thought they would get serious. To be honest, I thought she was great. She was smart, funny, pretty, ambitious, and everything else I usually look for in a girl. I thought my buddy lucked out. He liked her a lot, until he found out she was Jewish.

A few days ago, I asked him about her, and he said, "I had to cut it off. I can't date a Jewish girl." I found this to be absurd. Possibly because I'm not religious due to the fact I have a Irish Catholic father and Protestant mother. To me this seemed like classic discrimination, no different than refusing to associate with someone because of the color of their skin.

I'm not here to judge anyone, because my upbringing taught me that faith is important to have, but how you practice it is not. I'd love to know where others stand on this issue.

  • Christian Science: Religious freedom to kill?

    http://thegodcomplex.blogspot.com/

I had read over that blog today while trolling Blogspot, and have to admitt it raises a valid question in my mind. Our Constitution protects our religous freedoms. One of which allows us to even deny a Doctor the chance to treat us.

This blog's author pulled an article from Newsweek, speaking of 150 dead children. Each one a patient of Christian Science. Easily treatable conditions such as bowel obstruction have proven fatal. Conditions such as hemophilia, have also proven fatal despite the fact it's medically treatable.

Should a parent be deemed negligent for refusing their child medical care for choosing Christian Science? So you feel a Doctor or the State should be allowed to step in on behalf of the child given this situation?

  • How do I copy this DVD?

I'm going through a huge hastle with store bought DVDs. My parents have a weekend home, and I usually bring guests along, and I also like bringing a few movies down there with me to entertain my guests. Often I forget them down there, or end up taking them with me on a 250 mile drive.

Recently I had what I thought was a stroke of genius. I'd just back them up with my computer's DVD burner. This way, I could leave my retail copy down there, and if someone wanted to see that movie, I'd have a backup copy here.

It was almost perfect, I bought a stack of 25 DVDs, and sat down to start copying, to find many of my DVDs are protected? Protected from who? Me? The guy who owns the copy? The guy who would love to have a backup copy, or play the movie on a video Ipod?

No, it's to protect that movie from software piracy. So I've been looking around, and wanted to know if anyone had any tips? I've tried AnyDVD, dry erase markers... any ideas are welcome.

  • How fast does your boat need to go for someone to knee-ski on it?

My father bought a small Sunfire Neptune, center console, 15 ft. It has a 50 Horse Johnson Outboard. He bought it for crabbing because of the small size, and I'm wondering if I can horse around with it too?

I know the boat can get above 20, but not sure it can get up to 15mph - 20mph fats enough.

  • Have you seen this video yet? (no, I'm not a spammer)?

Please check this link, and watch this video when you have some free time. It could change your life.

Police are not the heroes of justice they are made out to be by television and media. More than often, many police officers use intimidation tactics to take advantage of others. Much like a racketeer, they use an individuals fear against them to obtain what they want. When they do this, many Americans also waive their rights unknowingly, and basically give themselves over to police officers.

I'm not looking to make someone buy something, but only watch a 45 minute video that can help protect them from these legalized predators. People do not have to be afraid of cops, but should know how their rights that they can protect themselves from a bully with a badge.

  • Can anyone suggest some torrent sites?

Yeah, yeah, yeah... Piracy is bad... blah blah blah... I know. People who answer this way are just wasting time by responding along these lines.

I know Torrentspy.com stopped accepting connections from North American users. I use Torrentbox too, but was hoping to find a new, open torrent site. I know about Demonoid and such, but the invite ones are often hard to get into these days, and all I want to do is find a few movies from the 80's.

  • Am I done for?

Last night, I was in my brother's car, and he was pulled over for speeding. He basically admitted it to the cop, waived his 5th amendment rights, and screwed himself.

The officer also claimed that I tossed something from the vehicle. He told me he was going to find it, and give me a summons, but found nothing. He then told me he had it on camera, but I seriously doubt my door was even in camera view judging by the angle of his car.

I didn't toss anything out the window. That's why he didn't find anything. What I think he saw was me flick the lit portion of a cigarette from the butt. I then put the butt in my pocket. The office4r didn't want to hear me out.

Instead he turned my brother on me by making him think that he had a chance to get out of the ticket, but because I wouldn't admitt to tossing something out the window, he was getting a $375 fine. My brother than said, "Just tell him you threw something out the window!"

I still would not admitt to it.

  • How can I make a discovery request?

In the United States, we have the right to represent ourselves in a municipal court. Considering my lawyer charges a rate of $250 an hour, I don't want to involve him when fighting a littering fine of $230, when I know I'm innocent.

Recently I was given a summons for throwing something from a vehicle, when I had simply "twisted out" a cigarette prior to being pulled over. The officer was unable to find what I had thrown, because I put the twisted out cigarette in my pocket, and did not toss it from the vehicle. He would not listen when I tried to explain, and was frustrated that I did not self incriminate myself by saying I did, despite him trying to turn my brother againts me (my brother got the speeding ticket).

Part of the pre-trial process is the request for discovery. In this process, I know I have a right to see the evidence the officer claims to have against me. How would I go about requesting discovery without involving my lawyer?
