  • Scared to eat, vomiting if I do?

For quite a while now, every time I consume something, I feel extremely nauseated and end up vomiting; even if it is just tea sometimes. It's not even a substantial amount, about 10-20 grapes and a cracker or two. I end up doing chew-and-spit if I get hungry enough but can't stomach anything (P.S. does this cause weight gain/how many calories are absorbed from this?) I'm really scared to eat anything anymore because I don't want to have to deal with this and am now reverting to making jello out of pedialyte and powerade zero to keep my electrolytes balanced. Advice?

  • Anorexic, can't stick to meal plan, down to under 500 cals a day :(?

I've been out of the hospital for a while now, but am struggling. I am eating less than 500 calories a day, a SUPER low cal lemon bar and grapes in the morning or evening sometimes both. I know I need 1600-1800 calories to maintain my weight, but am TERRIFIED to and can;t get myself to eat more or do three times a day. Advice on how to get back to 1600-1800 and maintain, NOT gain, please?! I'm really frustrated

  • Is my metabolism messed up for good from anorexia?

I have had anorexia for almost 4 years now, and have been in treatments where I was on 3500 a day. Now I only eat one meal with 300 or less---though I am trying to increase back up to 1500 (though I never seem to be able to). My worry is that my metabolism is permanently messed up and that I will gain loads of weight once I get beck up to 1500. I have always been very small framed and able to eat loads of food (whatever I want whenever and how much) without gaining anything, but I am still very terrified that I will continue to gain even though I wouldn't be eating very many calories. Would I gain lot if I ate 1500 a day? Is my metabolism messed up so that in the future I will gain weight unexpectedly on a low calorie count? And how can I increase my calorie intake without the weight gain (if I do so in slow increments, would that work?)---would my metabolism increase back to a high rate again and stay there? Help please :(

  • Advice on how to increase calories without gaining weight?

I recently got out of treatment for anorexia and need 1600-1800 calories to maintain. However, my calorie count has slipped to under 800, and I am willing to increase my caloric intake, but without weight gain. How can I increase my calories to where they need to be without gaining weight? Would increasing slowly, by 100 every few days be better, or jump straight back to 1600?

I also have IBS, so I am wondering if increasing the calories would reduce my symptoms, as they have been worse lately.

  • How to increase caloric intake for an anorexic?

I am anorexic, and my calorie count has dropped dramatically. How can I increase the cals without weight gain? If I go from 300-ish and jump to 750, then slowly increase to 1500 will I gain a lot of weight? I don't care if I maintain, just not gain anything.

  • Bad panic fits, need a way to relieve them?

I have very bad anxiety/various mental issues and have been getting worse in that when I feel "icky" inside (best way to explain my emotions, it's really a bunch of bad emotions all mixed together---causing lots of frustration and confusion. And then I am unable to express them well, adding to it even more) I have very bad fits---including screaming and self harm along with rolling on the floor and crying until I wear myself out. I cannot control it and it's like my rational side is completely gone and not there when I am having a fit. Therapy would not be helpful. How can I get this under control? It's causing so much grief in the family, and makes me feel so guilty.

  • Does a lack of calories make IBS worse?

I have bad IBS and anorexia, so I am between a rock and a hard place. I find it difficult to eat from the IBs, and so my calorie intake is below 1000. Anorexia aside, would taking in the calories I'm supposed to for maintaining weight (1600-1800) relieve my IBS symptoms?

Advice on how to increase without gaining would also be helpful, because I am TERRIFIED of gaining weight and increasing my cals.

  • IBS issues: could this be making it worse?

I have IBS and lateley it has been very bad. I go to the bathroom multiple multiple times and have to press on my abdomen to get anything out. It also makes me feel very fat/cranky.uncomfortable. I have some ideas as to MAYBE why it's gotten worse, advice on how to decrease the IBS?

    Theories:

Not drinking enough liquids (I do 24-20 oz a day)

Not getting enough calories (under 1000)

Trying to go to the bathroom TOO much

    Taking too much Maalox advanced

Thanks for the advice. Also, any advice how to increase caloric intake without gaining weight? Thanks

  • Anorexia---maintainence weight after caloric slipup? Advice needed?

I recently got out of treatment for anorexia, and was put on a maintainence caloric intake (approx. 1600-1800). However, in the past few weeks, my caloric intake dropped dramatically to under 1000. My question is how do I increase my caloric intake without gaining weight? Would it be ok to jump right back to 1600, or would that cause weight gain? Or would it be better to increase by 100 every few days or so? Advice on how to even increase (without weight gain) would be helpful, because I'm really scared to try.

  • Calorie increase advice needed ASAP!?

I need some advice, like, hardcore. My calorie levels have slipped and I can't get them back up to where they should be so I can maintain and stuff. I need 1800 calories, but I'm doing, like, 1/2 of that. I've been trying really hard to increase, but I get really scared and I always end up failing. I don't know how I can get my calories increased. I don't want to gain weight from the increase in calories. See, I guess what I'm saying is that I'm willing to increase the calories to where they should be so I can maintain, but I don't want to gain weight from it....If that makes since; sorry I can't explain it well.

So far, what I've been trying is setting a number of calories to aim for at meals and snacks for one week, then next week increasing that number, by like 50-100 or something. But it's a struggle to even get to the goal that I set.

This whole calorie-getting-up-to-where-I-can-maintain-1800 blah blah blah thing is SO SO SO SCARY SCARY SCARY! And CONFUSING! And FRUSTRATINGx10!!!!

And the thing is, I DON'T want to increase because I don't want to gain weight But at the same time, I DO want to increase, and just kinda eat whatever. I feel like I'm being stupid being afraid to increase, because I've done WAY more than that and have lost weight on that; and because of my body type, genes, natural metabolism, etc. that I should be able to jump back up to that and not gain weight no problem. But I'm TERRIFIED out of my wits that I WILL gain weight...And if I DO, then I'm scared I'll get scared and backslide even more.....

I really would like advice, please. A logical, easy plan that I can try that will enable me to increase calories and NOT gain weight from it. I'm worried my metabolism may have slowed down because I've been doing less than 800 for a while now (a couple weeks).

Eating is very difficult and terrifying for me, so saying "just eat" is NOT good advice.

Also, do you think that starting at a base number, say 900, then increasing by 100 a week would work? With the increase-but-no-gaining I mean....

  • Digestive issues, need help/advice as much as possible...?

For the past couple of years, my gastrointestinal track has been very messed up. I would get constipated a lot.

Now, I am CONSTANTLY gassy, bloated, or uncomfortable (so much so that eating is a non-option). Not only that, but I have to go to the bathroom to try and get the gas out several, several times a day.

My stools are like diharreah, but I have been taking laxatives and Miralax to make me "go" (better out than in). When the laxatives don't work, the loose stool stays in me, making me EXTREMELY uncomfortable.

Also, my intestines feel very weak, they do not want to push/contract to get stool out, and thus I take the laxatives or squish my abdomen with my hand to push everything out.

I am very tired of living like this, with my tract SO touchy and tricky. One little thing goes wrong and I'm messed up for the day.

Any help for fixing my digestive system so it can be "normal" (not gassy, not having to go to the bathroom all the time, strong muscles contractions, etc.) Thank you for the advice :)

What I do eat is very healthy.

Also, I am/have been under tremendous amounts of stress for years.

I currently take Miralax and Maalox, sometimes a chocolate laxative.

Do you think I should lay off the laxatives, tips on how to do so.

Another symptom I have is gurgly-ness. There feels like huge bubbles in my abdomen and I sound like a mudpot :(

I do not drink milk, and I eat little to no dairy already.

I am very worried about laying off the laxatives, because I'm scared that my system won't react well and I will swell like a balloon, so advice there would be helpful :)

I HATE doctors, I'd rather not see one....

  • unable to eat enough/enough calories?

I am in very stressful conditions, and I find it very difficult to eat a lot of food. Thus, I only eat about 800 calories on a "good" day. I get stomach aches/gas/discomfort almost all the time, which also makes eating difficult. I am almost never hungry. How can I increase my appetite, or calorie intake.

Also, I want to increase my calorie intake at a rate at which I won't gain any weight. Would 50/week be ok in doing this?

    Thanks.

  • Anorexia Relapse Metabolism HELP?

Ok, so I was forced to "recover", but now that I'm back home, have been limiting my calorie intake again. It's not so bad this time, I am averaging 1000-1200 a day, but I had been on 3500 (only I would only do 2400) and have been losing weight. My concern is my metabolism and am wondering if it will have slowed way down. Also, if I eat more calories (1500 or so +) after a while, will my weight stabilize, or would I gain/continue to gain like crazy?

Thank you for all helpful insights.
