1 AnswerGenealogy1 decade agoHow do you determine the coordinates on a cartesian grid from point A to point B along a curve?
If given the radius in feet and the arclength in feet, how do I compute the change in coordinates from point A to point B on a two dimensional graph? This is a common occurence in land descriptions. I believe it is called a simple curve. I understand how to calculate the chord, but I don't know how figure the difference in coordinates between point A (e.g. x = 1000 and y = 900) and point B (x = ?, y = ?). Seems like there's a way to reduce it to a right triangle, but I can't see how.
2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHow do you determine the change in polar coordinates of an arc from one end of a chord to another?
I have a land description that gives me the radius of the arc and the length of the arc. From this, I got the chord length. What I want to know is, when plotting this on a 2d graph, how to I figure the change (x,y) moving from one end of the arc to the other? For example, if I'm at point (1000,2000) on the grid, then I am to move southerly along curve right with a radius of 2814 feet and a chord length of 190 feet, where do I wind up on the grid? eg: (990, 1850), etc. I've looked at the equation of a circle, but it doesn't seem to help. I'm not doing this on paper, so a compass, etc. is out. I'm plotting this on an excel graph.

A case name or citation for a good U.S. case would be great. I mean substantive issues that make or break the case. Any ideas welcome.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhy do my Hostas keep getting smaller and what can I do to grow them larger?
I bought several Hostas a couple of years ago, planted them in shady bed with average soil. Fertilized and cared for them, but they keep getting smaller every year. The first year, they were about 16 in diameter. This year (3 years later), they are about 6-8 in diameter.

Just wondering if there's a clearinghouse for this stuff, especially for the corps of engineers.
2 AnswersEnvironment1 decade agoHow come old, used peugout cars are so hard to find in the U.S.?
You just don't see them in the papers anymore, and there's almost never any on autotrader or ebay. There are only a few in Hemmings too.

2 AnswersPerforming Arts1 decade agoWhat is the name of the 80's movie with the alien race car/death race, etc.?
The movie was about this guy who was murdered in a drag race or something and he comes back to life in this crazy silver delorian car. He starts racing the guys who killed him, killing them one by one by outrunning them, disappearing, then suddenly appearing blocking the road wherein the bad guy runs into the alien race car delorian thing exploding on the spot. The guy and the car keep coming back. Set in the desert. Used to come on late at night all the time. Ring any bells?

It seems like it would be easier to develop good tone faster playing a flugelhorn because its a slightly larger brass instrument.
