I bought an Ipod touch so I could put my cd collection on it and don't intend buying any online music.

My problem is I get screeeching noises each sound about 1/10th of a second long, changes in volume and just no sound at all on about 50% of the songs I've loaded from ripped cds. It doesn't seem to matter if the cds are old or new either.

I've tried checking the box to check the audio quality, loading the songs into the ipod one at a time, all the different formats (mp3, wav etc) and even cleaning the cds, but no joy. It takes about 3 hours to try every configuration of file types to get one cd into the ipod, and it's still really hit and miss. The copied songs play fine on my PC, but as soon as I try to put them into a playlist and then check them using the ipod, "sktch sktch sktch". The Apple site suggested I update the ipod software and yes, I did that.

Can someone give me a simple answer to get the freaking cds into it in a playable state? I don't want to pay for the songs again online, and most of the stuff I listen to isn't available anyway. And it isnt the crappy headphones that came with the Ipod either-the "sktch" sound comesin at the same time with different headphones.

I was just wondering why. I heard it was good for your teeth, but I also heard it was part of a conspiracy to weaken democratic countires to make them easier for the communist to take over.

My Nvidia Geforce 8400 card started to run erractically-the colours in a game started shifting lighter then darker. I rebooted and got green lines about an inch apart, then a series of wierd blocks and blobs. Now I can only run my laptop on the lowest possible settings. The error message says the Nvidia software isn't loading.

I really like this book, I was wondering if anyone has read it or anything else by China Meville.

I would like to know if any research is being done to introduce chloroplasts into animal skin cells. Eventually people could have green skin, make their own sugars and even cut down on global warming.

Any research being done out there into something along these lines?

Wouldn't it be great to see a fresh force in US politics, someone with a proven record of fighting the corruption and politicking of big business?
