Whats a good javascript book?
Im not a programmer. I do a bit of PHP but only for the sake of wordpress theming. I'm ok with databases, CSS and HTML.
I'm not looking for just another static dull book about another programming language, specially not the most misunderstood language on the planet *lol*. I'm looking for a book that i will continue reading after the first 4-5 pages, whither i like it or not.
Someone suggested i get the rhino book JavaScript: The definative guide but i found some reviews that say its not for beginners.
Any suggestions?
2 AnswersProgramming & Design10 years agocss float problem with asp?
i have this website that im designing a layout for. i have a problem when i float a div to either left or right.
usually, if you leave a div without any hight, and fill it with something like text or an image, it stretches vertically as much as the content goes. this however, doesnt happen in this page
http://213.165.38.156/CICWebsite/main.asp?lang=en&...
clear and position didnt help much and i dont want to decide a hight for any of my boxes because the client might want to add more and they want it to stretch as long as needed. also doctype changing didnt help either.
any thoughts?
1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoHow can i spill a picture out of the div in IE using CSS?
i have a container block thats aligned to the middle of the page with a width of 900px. the footer div is inside the container div and is at the bottom. i added a picture bigger than 900px so it would spill out of the container to the right side "its just some floral design"
now in IE, this doesnt happen.....
it stretches all the containers to keep the picture inside of it. i dont want that. i want the extra part of the picture to spill out as if this design is over the whole container box.
any suggestions?
4 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoOverheating HP laptop?
I have an HP DV6000 (DV6395ea) and for about a year, it has been overheating like crazy. at that time, i decided to take out the hard drive cover to allow more air in and it worked fine but its still over heating. the hard drive goes for about 60C and its the stock one (seagate). it also has some spots that might suggest it has been burnt thru the overheating process. right now, i have had a the ram+wifi card cover removed and touched them while the PC is ideal. i dont have a finger print any more, it melted.
i read a post over here where someone had an over heating DV series HP laptop and was voted to have the thermal paste reapplied or have a thermalpad between the CPU and heatsink. if so, can someone confirm this to me and say they have tried it or read about it somewhere. one other thing i need is a guide to disassemble this machine apart so i can diagnose the problem. i cant get it to open for some reason, one time i tried doing that and the buttons pad never went back to its place again.
i do remember there was a passive external solution for laptops or any electronic device. i believe it was either a sack that contains something that freezes in the air (dry ice sack?) or some kind of USB device that does passive cooling under the laptop/harddrive.
any thoughts, links would be greatly appreciated
