  • Husband and his 25 year old daughter too close?

My husband of 5 years (together for 8) revealed to me a year ago that he had a child when he was 17 and had only seen her for a few months at 2 different stages of her life (2 yrs and 7yrs.) I was quite shocked and upset for various reasons, mostly that I felt he had abandoned her. I urged him to contact her and apologize, he felt it would do her more harm than good. Fast forward a year and she contacted him looking to form a relationship (she is now 25 yrs old with a 3 yr old son). They now speak on the phone every night for anywhere between 2-4 hours and he is constantly emailing her. My issue is not that they have reconnected, but that it seems he has pushed everything else out of his life now. We have a 3 year old and a 3 month old, and she is very jealous of his time with them. He sends her sappy love songs all the time, and says things to her like "you are my reason for being"...etc. She calls him Daddy and tells him things like "you are so perfect for me". He is in the process of getting her signature tattooed on him, and she recently got a tattoo of him (they have only been speaking since November 3rd). I am trying to deal with this, but the whole thing is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Am I unreasonable? It seems to me like there is a pseudo-boyfriend relationship being created here. She is a single mother and doesn't seem to have a lot of friends - and she manipulates him in various ways which he doesn't see. I know he has good intentions, but he grew up without a father and doesn't really know how one should behave. Am I crazy or just a b*tch? Is this behaviour strange? I don't call my Dad "Daddy" and we haven't had a tickle fight since I was a little girl....

  • 5 weeks and spotting?

I recently found out I am newly pregnant which is great news but a little scary too, because my hubby and I tried for a long time to get pregnant the first two times (only 1 live birth). This one seemed to happen right away. Anyways, I am only about 5 weeks, and for the past 13 days I have had brown/light pink spotting - usually only when wiping after peeing. Yesterday I had some red on the toilet paper (not dark or heavy) once and again today just once. I don't have any cramping and am going in tomorrow for a blood HCG test - has anyone else experienced slight spotting in early pregnancy that lasted this long and go on to have healthy babies? Did your Dr ever tell you the cause? I am nervous about miscarrying as it has happened before (with my first). Thanks for your help ladies :)

  • I have spotting but not low progesterone...?

Hubby and I are presently trying to conceive baby #2 but for the last few months I have anywhere from 5-10 days of light brown spotting which eventually turns into my period. This cycle the spotting has lasted 11 days and there is no sign of a period coming yet. When we conceived our first, it took almost 4 years and 1 m/c with no explanation for the infertility. We went to a specialist who did all the standard blood work, but my progesterone came back normal. My question is, has anyone else experienced spotting during their luteal phase and still have normal progesterone? My GP doesn't think the spotting is a concern and she would have to be refer me to a fertility specialist again if needed, so I am trying to find out the reasons myself so I can ask her for specific tests.

    Thanks for your help :)

  • Normal for first period after breastfeeding?

I just finished completely weaning my one-year old daughter about a week ago, and got my period on Sunday. It is very heavy, very painful - I'm just wondering if this is normal for a first period and if so, how long will it last? Is it just going to be this one that is so heavy, or will the next couple be like this?

  • Weaning baby - bedtime feeding question.?

I am weaning my 10 month old daughter from the breast, as I will be returning to work in a month and a half. Right now she has a morning nurse, mid-morning nurse, bottle in afternoon, bottle with dinner, then nighttime nurse. When will she stop needing the nighttime feeding? When I wean her completely, will she still need a feed before bed? Or is this more a habit now. She eats 3 meals a day - sometimes a snack as well, sometimes not.

  • Is it a blocked tear duct?

My 9 month old daughter has had a "weeping" eye for about 4 days. It is only her right eye, and there is no yellowish mucous or discoloration, it just keeps tearing. I do remember when she was about 4 months old there was a couple of weeks where every once in a while she would have a tear on her cheek under the same eye, but I haven't noticed it since then. If it is a blocked tear duct, where do I massage it? And are there any suggestions for getting her to sit still long enough for me to put a warm compress on it? She's pretty wiggly :)

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Nursing but only one breast full?

I am breastfeeding my 8 day old, but only one breast seems to be working now. At first, both were fine but on Saturday night I switched her to the right and manually expressed from the other, due to a crack in the nipple. Last night, I noticed that the left breast is now soft and feels empty - trying to express doesn't seem to work. The right is still leaking when she's nursing from it - I keep trying the left anyways to stimulate but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. I'm not sure what else to do to stimulate the milk flow in this breast, I am not considering bottle at all.
