I have been married for almost 6 years and my stepdaughter is 14. I love her dearly, and have always acted with her best interests at heart - even when it means putting up with her mother's negative behavior. My husband's ex has never forgiven him for ending their marriage - she still wears his engagement ring on her ring finger and she remarried 7 days after their divorce was final - and she is NEVER appreciative, or even nice about the things we do for her. She only insists that my husband is a parent when there are bills to be paid - and pretty much tries to ignore him as the child's father every other time. I mean, he had to go to court to oder her to let the child receive mail from us! As she gets older, I try to do things for her when she is visiting that will interest her - we have 2 small kids, so it's important that she get out and hang out with kids her own age - and all I get from her mom is grief. For all you steps out there, how do you deal with hateful parents?
