  • Unscented AXE/other brand?

Is there any way to get something along the lines of unscented deodorant spray, no matter the company? AXE is mostly alcohol, which makes a great deodorant, but I don't like smelling like a 6th grade dance all the time, and it's unsafe to use antiperspirant on areas other than the underarms.

  • Best way to wake up without disturbing others?

I'm hoping to start a Dymaxion sleep schedule soon. If you don't know that that means, basically I would sleep two hours a day. Obviously, it would be very easy to sleep through an alarm when you haven't slept well in months. Do you have any ideas on how I could do this? I could just set an alarm on my iPod, but I would sleep through it. Then I thought I could use headphones, but they would undoubtedly fall out while I'm asleep. Then, I thought I might hook it up to my stereo, but I don't think my parents want to hear loud music at midnight and 6AM. Any other ideas? Imagine you haven't slept in a week and just fell asleep, it would have to be loud enough to wake you up.

  • Details on the Chromebook?

I will be making an involuntary change from a Macbook to a Chromebook in a few months, and I can't seem to find a straight answer online: Exactly HOW cloud-based is it? I've heard from some people that it's essentially a Google Chrome live CD, and I've heard from others it's simply a laptop designed by Google. Basically, here are my concerns:

    1. Can you download actual applications for it, or is it just the "full-fledged photo editing with flickr" bullcrap?

    2. Can you access the command line at all?

    3. Can you in any way sync an iDevice with it (iTunes, or anything else, even if it requires a jailbreak)?

It would be nice if you could cite sources, as this is Y!A, and I can't let my personal and financial future rest on faith in internet strangers :P

  • What's wrong with my router?

Every day or so, all my local IPs change. My laptop could be 192.168.0.101 one minute, then I get home and all the other devices have automatically re-connected, and I get 192.168.0.105 or something.

    1. What is this called?

    2. How can I prevent it?

    3. Is this the reason I can't wirelessly print?

  • Liberal vs Conservative views on the Economy?

I'm doing a project for school, and I need to know the Left and Right wing views on the Economy. Other issues are obvious (pro-life vs pro-choice), but I don't really get this one.

  • Can you give me some random verbs?

I'm designing a program for an experiment. I can't give you many details, but I need some random, obscure (or at least not common) verbs. Please make them more creative than "run", "walk", "jump", etc. I want this to work!

  • Can someone please help me?

    Here's my problem:

There is in Russia an emeritus Professor Nikolay Stepanovitch, a chevalier and privy councillor; he has so many Russian and foreign decorations that when he has occasion to put them on the students nickname him "The Ikonstand." His acquaintances are of the most aristocratic; for the last twenty-five or thirty years, at any rate, there has not been one single distinguished man of learning in Russia with whom he has not been intimately acquainted. There is no one for him to make friends with nowadays; but if we turn to the past, the long list of his famous friends winds up with such names as Pirogov, Kavelin, and the poet Nekrasov, all of whom bestowed upon him a warm and sincere affection. He is a member of all the Russian and of three foreign universities. And so on, and so on. All that and a great deal more that might be said makes up what is called my "name."

That is my name as known to the public. In Russia it is known to every educated man, and abroad it is mentioned in the lecture-room with the addition "honoured and distinguished." It is one of those fortunate names to abuse which or to take which in vain, in public or in print, is considered a sign of bad taste. And that is as it should be. You see, my name is closely associated with the conception of a highly distinguished man of great gifts and unquestionable usefulness. I have the industry and power of endurance of a camel, and that is important, and I have talent, which is even more important. Moreover, while I am on this subject, I am a well-educated, modest, and honest fellow. I have never poked my nose into literature or politics; I have never sought popularity in polemics with the ignorant; I have never made speeches either at public dinners or at the funerals of my friends ... In fact, there is no slur on my learned name, and there is no complaint one can make against it. It is fortunate.

The bearer of that name, that is I, see myself as a man of sixty-two, with a bald head, with false teeth, and with an incurable tic douloureux. I am myself as dingy and unsightly as my name is brilliant and splendid. My head and my hands tremble with weakness; my neck, as Turgenev says of one of his heroines, is like the handle of a double bass; my chest is hollow; my shoulders narrow; when I talk or lecture, my mouth turns down at one corner; when I smile, my whole face is covered with aged-looking, deathly wrinkles. There is nothing impressive about my pitiful figure; only, perhaps, when I have an attack of tic douloureux my face wears a peculiar expression, the sight of which must have roused in every one the grim and impressive thought, "Evidently that man will soon die."

  • Avoiding IP Address blocks?

On my network, they block all IP addresses (if I enter the IP of any site, blocked or not, it will show a block page). How can I avoid this (I often download files which are in an IP address, not a website, such as http://12.345.67.890/files/file.zip). Any ideas?

  • Could I have a cavity?

On my top left molar, second from the middle, The little "ditch" in the middle hurts a little. This happens when I drink something that's not warm, but eating ice cream is fine. It also feels a little weird, like there might be a hole, but I feel this exact same thing on the same tooth on the other side, and it doesn't hurt at all. The pain isn't that bad (maybe not even considered pain, but certainly mild discomfort). Any dentists or people with this same thing know what this might be? I can't get to my dentist for over a month.

  • Potatoes and dogs...?

My black lab just ate a whole, small, peeled potato. There were no visible green spots. He vomited, but seems OK now. Will he be alright? Are potatoes deadly, or just not recommended, for dogs?

  • Does "¿" descend??????

I'm making a hand-written font (see "yourfonts.com"), and it has the writing lines with the many lines in one 'strip', like they use in kindergarten. It has an area for the descenders (lines that go below the line with g, j, y, q, etc). What I was wondering is, does the bottom of the "¿" (upside down question mark) descend, or is it just like the regular question mark, where it goes from the two lines, like a lowercase "l"?

My new password (changed a bit, obviously) is basically "z!JrRia%wblD7d*hH#fmxl41u". Any way I could remember this? I've practiced typing it 300+ times, and I can only remember the first 4 or 5 characters.
