Relocating to another state to work for a start up tech company. Your thoughts?
I've applied for a position with a start up tech company based out of California. I do not live in California but live in another state on the east coast, I went through three tough phone interviews and I had to submit a presentation. I feel very confident they will make an offer. The conversations have lead in that direction. The salary pays very well. I'm just concerned because I haven't had a face to face interview. Should I be concerned about that? There is information about them online including their website but it's not a lot of info. Is that common for start ups? They have two locations and opening up a 3rd location. I guess I'm just concerned because I haven't had a face to face interview. Aside all of that, everything else appears to be legit. I don't know, what do you think? They offer great benefits and are paying for my relocation if offered the position. Should I be concerned?

10 AnswersBuying & Selling4 years agoLease a car in order to pay off student loan faster or just suck it up and finance?
So I need to get a new car. My current car is not in horrible condition but it is starting to cost me a lot in repairs. The major components are in tip top shape, the engine, transmission, the alternator, etc. I feel like right now I can get at least $2500 to $3000 out of it now if I sell it. I was planning to use that money to put down towards a new vehicle and finance a car. I’m considering leasing and this is why. I have grade A credit and will qualify to lease with no money down, sort of like a sign and drive. It was never my original plan to lease. But if I lease, I can actually use the $2500 and some extra money I have coming to put toward my student loan. I’m wondering if I should just lease since my payments will be less and use the extra money to pay my student loan off in less than 3 years. Actually I can probably do it in 2 years. By the time I come out my lease, all of my debts will definitely be paid off. Then I’ll be in even better position to buy. The car I’m looking to lease is around $150-$200 a month but if I finance I’m looking at really $375 to a little over $400 a month. I can still pay off my student loan but it will take much longer. The $2500 to $3000 will definitely go toward the car to bring payments down rather than to my student loan if I choose to finance. Is my idea to lease in order to pay off student loan faster a good idea or am I just imagining this scenario all wrong?
11 AnswersBuying & Selling4 years agoShould I lease or finance my next car?
I’m on the fence about whether I should buy or lease a vehicle. I know that financing is the best option because in the end you will own your vehicle whereas leasing is like a long term rental. I’m in the market for a new car but I’m really conflicted about whether I should lease or finance. I guess my biggest concern is this, no matter how much I love a car when I first buy it, I can’t be sure I’ll feel the same about it 5 or 6 years from now. I don’t know if I can drive the same car for 8 or 9 years like some do, God bless them. What is your experience from going from one car to the next. Do you lease? Do you buy? If you buy, do you find yourself trading your car in sooner than you think? Lastly, what’s the longest you’ll drive your car before you’re ready for an upgrade?
12 AnswersBuying & Selling4 years agoShould I file child support now that my ex husband got his mistress pregnant?
My ex-husband and I have one child together made in the marriage. We had marital issues and I was suspicious of his "too friendly" relationship with a female co-worker. He chose to leave the marriage and deny any affair. We agreed that he would give me a certain amount each month which he has held up his end of the bargain. I recently found out that the "co-worker" is pregnant with his baby. I guess he can t deny it now. I ve been told by several people that it would be in my best interest to get a child support order instead of the verbal agreement. If she file before me, she may get more than me if I file after her. It s not about the money, I want to make sure my child is protected. He will be stretched very thin with another baby. Also our divorce papers show that he agreed to said amount. Will the courts honor the divorce decree? I ask because he is giving me a little more than what he courts generally would require for 1 child. We live in NY by the way.
2 AnswersMarriage & Divorce4 years agoWould you relocate to Dallas for less money even though the cost of living is less than your current city (NYC)?
I live in NYC and the cost of living is so high and I’m just ready to go. I’ve been talking about moving to Texas for years. I’ve always wanted to go. Depending on what part you go, there is hot weather, lower cost of living, the suburban life but also some city life. I feel I can get a little bit of both without going broke and better homes. OMG, I would love to buy a home one day but what they want for a home in NYC is absolutely ridiculous especially since you’ll have to live in a box. The homes here are extremely small. The question is what should I do in terms of salary. For example, let say I make $60k a year in NYC, if offered a position making the same pay or $5000 less, should I take it? I know my dollar will stretch further in TX than in NY but I still don’t want to take a pay cut. What would you do if it was you? Would you take a pay cut just so you can actually have a job to move or would you hold out for something that pays more even if it’s just a little more?

1 AnswerNew York City4 years agoMy boyfriend left me in the club by myself. Do I have a right to be upset about this?
It's a fairly new relationship. We've been dating seriously for a few months. Overall, we spend a lot of time together and never had any real issues until recently. So we go to this bar/lounge in the city and we're drinking and we're having a good time. There's a small dance floor but we're not on the dance floor but we're sitting at the bar dancing in our seats. The music is just right, everything is good. My boyfriend is sitting to my right and another guy is sitting to my left. I'm dancing and had a few drinks, not drunk but tipsy. My boyfriend goes to the bathroom. The guy to my left starts dancing with me. Not anything crazy because again we're sitting in chairs the bar. It's more like shoulder bump dancing if that makes sense. My boyfriend comes out the bathroom and he is very upset. He throws my keys, id card, and phone on the bar, grab his jacket and walk out. Later on I learn that he was upset because he felt disrespected and I apologized. I wasn't mindful of my actions and should've been more considerate. I would never intentionally disrespect him. But as I think about it I'm bothered that he would actually leave me at the lounge alone at 2am in the morning. I had on a mini skirt and thigh high boots. Once he walk out the club, any man watching that scene unfold is now completely aware that I'm alone. And I'm angry that he wasn't concerned about my safety or how I was going to get home. As a man, he should have handled that better. Am I right to be upset about this?
5 AnswersSingles & Dating4 years agoHe wants to take me to Olive Garden on our first date?
Don't get me wrong. I like Olive Garden but not for a first date. I'm a little irked by the fact that he actually think Olive Garden is a good first date. We're 30. If we were in our early 20s, still inc college it would be totally acceptable. We're working professionals. At 30 I just expect something a little more trendy with better ambiance. I know a few nicer spots at much cheaper prices than Olive Garden. I don't want to sound bitchy but I think the reason why I'm a littled irked by it is because I live right around the corner from that Olive Garden that he want to go to and have been there way too many times with family, etc. I don't know. I just thought guys would know better at this age in the game. Would it be rude to make another suggestion or should I just go with the flow?
9 AnswersSingles & Dating5 years agoHow do I gain weight without gaining fat in my belly?
I looked my best at 156 lbs. I'm 5'7 and right now I'm a little under 130. My goal is to get to 155. I was 156 right after I gave birth, my face was fuller, my arms, legs, and butt was bigger. I looked great. Everyone told me how well I looked and I loved the weight gain. I wasn't too big but not too small BUT when I gain weight, I gain the stomach too. I really hated the belly fat so I tried to lose some weight to lose the stomach. I lost the stomach and I also lost the legs, arms, and butt too. When I'm slim I have a nice small waist but with the weight I have a belly and it ruins the whole figure. How do I get to 156 without getting belly fat?

2 AnswersSingles & Dating5 years agoThe man I'm dating needs a green card. Is his intentions real or fraud?
So I met this guy. He is really sweet. He takes me out to frequently. He has a great personality and we seem to be mutually into each other. I'm in the process of a divorce and have a daughter. I've dated other men and there so much pressure to be in a relationship. With him, it's not like that at all. He moves at my pace. I don't feel pressured and feel very comfortable and secure with him. We have a lot in common and I truly enjoy being around him. The only thing that concerns me is that he needs a green card. Sometimes I wonder is he dating me with the hopes of marrying me for his green card. We openly talked about it. He assured me that is not his intention. In fact, he said that if he was looking to date a woman just for a green card, he wouldn't date me since I'm still legally married. I believe him only because if he was trying to trick me he wouldn't be so open and honest about his citizenship issue. Of course, coming out of a divorce, I just want to be sure. Is his intentions real or could he be after one thing only, a green card?
4 AnswersSingles & Dating5 years agoWhy do some people pick fights over nothing? or like to fight?
You ever meet someone and no matter what you say or if they do something you don t like and you try to bring it up to them, they have the ability to flip it around on you and somehow you walk away feeling like you did something wrong. He s that person. It s almost like he s looking for something to argue about. If I don t want to talk about something, he ll flip it an now I m controlling because I want to control what we talk about. All because I don t want to discuss a certain topic. He ll take something small like that and he ll literally try to argue with me about it ALL DAY LONG. It s draining. What make people like that? Why do some people like to argue or pick fights?
3 AnswersSingles & Dating6 years agoShould I replace my entire transmission if there is only "minor damage" to the transmission?
I have a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. I just bought this vehicle used a year ago. The car overall drives fine and we had no problems with the car. Recently, while driving on a highway I tried to accelerate and the car wouldn't go past 40mph no matter how hard I hit the gas. It was making this noise when you are hitting the gas but the car is stuck in the mud. So I turned the car completely off and 5 minutes later I turned it back on. I kept on driving and I had no problems the rest of the day and I did a lot of driving. 1 week later it happened again so I took it to my mechanic. He said it could be damage to the transmission but he can't be sure. So they put a program on my car and told me to drive it for a few days. Bring it back and they'll run the data and find out what it is. I did that. He says that there was minor damage done to the transmission but told me to replace a transmission is $3500. He suggest that I try to trade it in before the damage get worse. What I don't understand is if it's only minor damage, why can't we just fix it? I don't see the point in replacing an entire transmission over a "minor damage". I know fixing a transmission cost money but I rather pay the extra cash to fix this "minor damage" than to buy a new transmission or trade in my car. He also said there was some sort of plug out that was causing the kickback in the car. He put it back in and so that shouldn't be a problem. What could the minor damage be? Should I just get a second opinion or what?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs6 years agoHow do I deal with my husband's emotional affair?
I'm not really sure if I can call it an emotional affair. Let me make it short and sweet. My husband had a female friend that would text him all evening every evening. Then she would call or text him early in the morning before he go to work, like 7am. I asked him in the past that this behavior is inappropriate and it needs to stop. I trusted that he would take care of it because I never had to deal with him being unfaithful or other women before. Several months later, I learned that it didn't stop and it continued. I was extremely upset about it. I asked him did he have feelings for this woman. He admitted he did and we separated. I was devastated. How can he continue to disrespect me after I asked him not too? The problem is she doesn't know how he feels about her. She knows he's married and is only a friend to him but he caught feelings for her just because they would talk all the time. Now we are talking about reconciling and working on our marriage which is exactly what I want to do. But before we get back together, I plan to ask him to cut all ties with her. I understand that she's not guilty in all of this and she doesn't even know what is going on but I cannot allow my husband to continue to befriend and communicate with a woman he admitted to have feelings for? Am I wrong for requesting this or should I trust that any feelings he may have had is now gone? What's your opinion on this.
6 AnswersMarriage & Divorce7 years agoHow can I prepare myself mentally for a divorce?
My husband and I have been married for 3 years. We are not talking about a divorce and I really don't want a divorce. I really want my marriage to work. But I'm not the problem. My husband is just not emotionally involved. We don't have sex. He doesn't show affection. We're together but the romance, the love is all gone. I feel like we're roommates paying bills together instead of lovers. We talk about it and he doesn't know why he can't seem to see me the way a husband should view his wife. He's admitted to me that he's not drawn to me anymore and it's not from a physical standpoint. Personally, I believe he's no longer in love with me but he doesn't know how to say it. When I try to kiss him, he pushes me away. In fact, I no longer show any affection toward him at his request. I love my husband so much and I'm still madly in love with him and will do anything for my marriage to work but I can't fix him. I can't make him fall back in love with me. It's hard to fix things in your marriage when you're not the problem. I'm rambling here but bottom line, I think it's just a matter of time before he ask me for a divorce. He's already said things like he's concerned about our future and he's not sure if his feelings for me will change. As much as I want my marriage to work, how do I prepare myself mentally for a divorce? I think I'm just waiting for him to ask me for one. It may take a few months or a year or longer. I just want to be ready for it if it happens.
8 AnswersMarriage & Divorce7 years agoHow to make my unhappy husband happy again?
Me and my husband are having some marital problems. We’ve had several long talks and finally got the communication going. He brought up some things that make me feel guilty for why he’s unhappy in our marriage. I sincerely apologize for my part and took full responsibility for my role in why he is so distant from me. Over the past several months, I’ve made great efforts to change and he said he noticed. I’ve been nothing but sweet and nice and not because I’m trying to but because I want to be a loving wife to him. He’s still unhappy and I feel like there’s no progress. We haven’t argued or fought in months. I haven’t done anything to piss him off or give him any reason not to want to be around me in months.
I’ve also tried to put him first such as doing things that I know he would like or want and not so much for myself. For father’s day, I took him to a Brewery because he likes beer and invited several of his friends and he had a good time but he was still sort of cold to me. I took him to see Dave Chappelle live for our anniversary because I know he loves Dave Chappelle and watch all of his shows. He enjoyed the show and was thankful but he barely spoke to me or said a word to me the ride there and back and during intermission. I try to give him his space but going to my mom’s on the weekends because I wonder maybe he just need a break but that doesn’t seem to help. I want us to spend more time together and do things together because I feel we’ll only get closer if we’re
