I am a nurse, and clinical instructor. I guess that is why I am here, because I am off in the summer and don't have questions always coming at me; it doesn't feel right :)

  • How can I get a copy of this documentary?

It was shown on MSNBC and produced by Michael Singer. It was called "America's New Heroin Epidemic: Along Comes the Horse" and is of interest to me because it was a local issue featured on national TV. Producers were Eric Salzman and Cary Graeber, editor Pierre Kahn. I think it aired January 2, 2001.

It is not on youtube and I don't know how I can get a hold of it. Does anyone know how to point me in the right direction?

  • If I punch my neighbor in the face and get a good lawyer, will I lose my nursing license?

She used to care for my MIL. She had ideas for stealing her things. Once we moved in, she realized it wasn't gonna happen. Eventually my MIL realized we were right. She called area on aging about dog hair on the carpet, trying to get us in trouble, when we vacuumed each and every day. Nothing founded. She called children in youth twice for just as silly things, nothing founded. I posted a railroad jack for sale on ebay and she called the police because she takes care of my Uncle up the street who feels she does not wrong-he says it was his, though it is kept here. So we sat it outside and arranged for his son to come get it. He never did. We put a public posting on facebook for them to leave us alone. They (her and her friend who also cared for MIL) sued for Harrassment-it went to court and was dropped and the judge told them they were "bizarre". THis woman gets disability for diabetic neuropathy yet can care for my Uncle and move around her yard like Mick Jagger. We have a do not tresspass order on file at the sheriff's office. I will be keeping my cats away from her yard, but honestly do not believe they go there, they stay close. Anyway, I don't care what someone does to me, and I do believe in karma and some has come around-but you don't screw with my kid. I am willing to pay a fine and defend myself in court. I have an impeccable work history and no history of violence-ever. What are my chances? One punch-in the face-no weapons.

  • Can a stock Bose stereo from a 2002 Audi A4 be transferred to a Nissan Sentra 2012?

I have a non running 2002 Audi A4. I loved the sound system in this car. I loved everything about this car, but we can't afford to fix it right now. My husband is a mechanic and very experienced in car stereo installation. However, he has not worked in almost 3 years. He says there are far too many wires and fiberoptics involved and this is not possible. He also says since there is no IPOD input, why would I want to do this. I did a cursory look and saw some conversion kits, but had no idea what i was looking at. I have a feeling he is right though. My second question would be, would the stock speakers be better than the ones in my Sentra?

  • Is this normal?

I recently took some measures to up my sex drive- reduced my Prozac(on for PMDD) and started Buspar. I also lost 40 lbs. in the meanwhile, I am 99%sure I have PCOS - I get ultrasound results tomorrow. So there is a lot going on and it is hard to tell what is causing what. Here is the problem: my sex drive is now through the roof which is great. But my husband has had a hard time with the adjustment. He is used to me being pretty much sexually unavailable. If I go more than a week without sex I show signs of a nervous breakdown. Last week by day 5, I had headaches, couldn't concentrate, cried all the time and was generally dejected. The symtoms became so bad I have sought out a therapist. Eventually I explode at my husband. Now after about 4 months of this- he seems to be getting it - and we are getting better at communicating our needs. Is is normal to get this crazy from no sex? I have never had a high sex drive but now I feel horrible for all the years of deprivation as well. I am 41.

  • How to curse in Italian according to what I remember?

I once worked at Italian Pizza shop. The owner would teach me some phrases, but I know I recall them quite incorrectly, and at this point I don't even know if what he was telling me was Italian or Spanish because I remember him telling me how similar the two languages are. When I look them up, I get all kinds of stuff. He was Sicilian, btw. SO the two phrases are for Suck my d%^& and Kiss my a$%. I remember them sounding like (forgive my spelling) succolo minchia and boccholo cola. Any ideas what I may have heard? This is purely just curiosity of course. It was years and years ago. Now that I enjoy Italian music, it made me think of this, lol.

  • What do I do with this bricked iphone?

I have an iphone 4s which was working just fine until I tried to install OS 7.04. I have tried redsnow, all the apple forum suggestions, numerous youtube videos, tiny umbrella and tiny umbrella recovery, ifaith, and I have wasted hours..no days of my time. I had that waste of insurance asurion, which would cost me $160. Well, I am in a money crunch right now, so my husband is gracious and gave me his iphone 4 and he is going to use a track phone. I basically use the navigator cuz I work home health. Anyway, I just want to know what to do with the thing. Everyone once in a while I try again, and it just drives me crazy. Do you think one of those phone mac machine things to sell it? It is stuck on the recovery screen, so it would register as having power. Do I just chuck in in an envelope and mail it back to apple with a big f- u? I am sick of this expensive paper weight that has been bricked since last year. What are your ideas? It is a damn shame.

  • Is there a genre of music or a song that makes you horny (for lack of a better word)?

I won't go too much into detail, but I have been taking certain herbal supplement, and well, things are ...picking up.

So anyway, I was listening to this play list because it was the only thing NOISY enough to shut out my kids- and I was having cramps so bad, I just needed to rest- for a bit with the head phones on. So I put this on- It was aggrotech. It was a very unexpected reaction. Totally turned me on. SO what about all of you guys? Any music work for you? What is your go to stuff?

What kind of turtle is this?

This little guy is only about 2 inches long and wide. I found him actually just walking across my porch! There is a creek behind my house, but how he got here, I don't know! I asked a family member of one of my patients who had alot of outdoors knowledge albeit 'unscientific' and he said it was a "stink turtle". After some research, I believe he meant a musk turtle. I have looked at some photos and he looks to me kinda like a razorback musk turtle, but these, according to Wikipedia are from the south, and I live in PA. I guess anything can happen, but does someone know for sure? This would help me take better care of him. So far he does pretty well with meal worms, but he eats pretty infrequently. He is active at different times, so he seems fine. I keep him in water, he is only in this sand sifter for the photo.

  • Why am I so thirsty at night?

Don't say I am diabetic-I just checked my blood sugar 2 hours after a meal and it was 81. I am barely thirsty all day. It is like I just have to force myself to drink then. Once I get home, right before bed, I want to chug fluids, but only Fresca. I am very picky about what I drink. If I don't have cold fresca from a can, I won't drink and it won't bother me, except right before bed. I am a nurse and I have no explanation for this. I find it odd. Probably no reason other than I am odd. Or maybe I just don't take the time to drink and it catches up with me then. Is anyone else like this?

  • What is Janet Jackson's heaviest album?

I loved the song, Black Cat, as I am more into heavier tunes. I also like some dubstep and electronic, but I was a total metal head in the 80's. I heard a sound bite that sounded sic from one of her albums, like totally rockin out, but I cannot place it. So what is the one of her albums that has the most rocking guitars and such?

  • Will the lab straighten out my false positive for THC?

I had a drug test, the kind that has the preliminary "dip" and then is sent off to the lab. This is the list of my medications: Prozac, Adderall, and Topomax. When I took the drug test, I had my menses (which was apparent) and had been taking pretty heavy doses of Aleve (3 tablets that day and 3 the eve before). I read that Aleve can make urine test positive for THC-which it did. I also ponder if the blood in the urine would absorb more of the aleve and make it somehow a stronger positive, because my urine was strongly positive for THC. When he said it, I was laughing until I realized he was serious. I haven't smoked pot for many years. I haven't taken any "marinol" as he asked either. He said it was a "presumptive" positive, and would be sent to the lab. Tell me the lab has a better way of testing and that the drug test will then be negative.

  • What is this noise? Norfolk Southern railcars at night outside my house?

So this is not regular railway noise. Once a week or more like monthly, this goes on much of the night. rumbling, different sounds of steam release, then it seems the thing is going back and forth at different rates of speed. Sounds like testing, but I'd like to know a little more specifically what all the different noises are. Maybe it would help me sleep if I understood better what it was. It can drive me nuts some nights and keep me awake, but I know I can always use ear plugs. Just curious. BTW I live about a stone's throw from the railroad; it is literally in my front yard.

  • should I sell our house or fix it up and stay?

We are a family of 4, with children ages 4 and 7. We recently inherited and are living in a 100 year old house that we don't even have money to finalize the estate for yet. The house has old plaster walls, old wiring, old plumbing, leaking roof, dry rotted attic...everything needs fixed. Right now it is livable. The exterior just had new siding about 10 years ago and a new bathroom added to the first floor. We LOVE not having a mortgage as we lost our last home to foreclosure 5 years ago after we fell behind and couldn't catch up (I had no benefits to pay for maternity leave and it all just snowballed). Right now my husband is staying at home to take care of the kids, but once he goes back to work we will make about 90,000 a year. I just bought a car and am hoping to repair my credit by paying on it every month on time. The land surrounding our house is owned by a local business owner who offered to buy our home if we ever want to sell. I can't imagine we would get more than 40 grand. So my question is do we wait until we can begin to try taking out small loans for projects one at a time and fixing up this house? Or do we sell and maybe get another very small house? I doubt very seriously we can get another mortgage for several years, nor are we ready to even think of having a payment that high again yet. We have decided not to make a decision until next spring. We like the area well enough, but do have concerns about the school district. Any advice is appreciated. No nasty comments please, we are trying here.

  • how can i get free loaders out of our house?

We have two people who have been living with us for about 6 months. There is no lease, and stupidly we set little ground rules before they moved in. The problem is that we have been nice, not charging them for a thing. In return, they do nothing. They stay in their section and smoke whatever it is they smoke. There is so much to do around here, but the one time I asked, I was told that my kids should be doing it (they are very young). So I decided then that this would be a very temporary situation. We told them they had a month to go. I would think they would be courteous and go early, but no. There is only 5 days left, and they have? not packed a thing. The only problem I see possibly is that the house belonged to his parents, who died and the deed hasn't been finalized; however we have a copy of the will which names us only. A lawyer is working on finalizing things. I would think that is enough to legally make them leave. Any ideas? My thoughts are to give them 2 more days to start packing and tell them the locks will be changed. I am also wondering if I can hire movers and charge it to them? Is it worth contacting the police? They are just lazy and actually don't trust each other to decide if they want to get a place together. So whatever, they should just go get their own place. I think I have been nice up until this point because they aren't loud, they clean up after themselves and i know it could be worse. ButI have a family to raise and I wanna get started with these house repairs. I need their room to fix up for my daughter while we repair the other rooms. We have already cut off several utitlities. They just take cold showers and sit on their *** still. help

  • Weird response to being tickled on my left side: my one eye droops, can this be Horner syndrome?

I have always had this response, my husband used to think this was fun, to tickle me and make my "eye go shut". Now I happened to stumble upon Horner syndrome. I have had more drooping of this eye lately, especially in the morning. It also is red quite alot, and irritates me. My pupil on that side is smaller on the left. Now for the kicker, I am now worried that this could be some type of aneurysm, I saw that as a cause and I have been able to feel my heart beat in my back when I lie flat or sit back. Am I being a hypochondriac or should I see a doctor? I am a nurse and I think it could be something, but when you are dealing with yourself, your perceptions are off. Any docs or healthcare people out there familiar with any of this? I realize it is odd.

  • Will we end up having to leave our mother n law's house?

I asked a similiar question a few days ago, but don't think I made myself clear. We have lived with my

mother n law for a year and helped with her care. She just had a stroke, and we are not sure of how much care she will need, this will depend on rehab. If she needs nursing home placement, what is the likelihood that we have to leave the home? My husband is the son, and therefore a dependent. The way I understand it is that if we are "caretaker children" for two years the house is not included in medicare eligibility. My MIL has a decent social security income and retirement, and therefore her income is about $30,000 per year. I really don't want her to go to a nursing home, but as I understand it, funding for home care is limited. We will care for her as long as we physically can, but we have small children and I want to plan if I am going to need to find a rental on down the line. Honestly I am not worried about getting this house in the end, but I want to plan so my kids don't live in the street. Capiche?

Yes I will be contacting an elder care attorney, but this takes time and money. I just want to be able to sleep without having so many unanswered questions. Please no rude answers. This is a very hard time for us. My grandchildren love their Grannie and miss her.

  • Will nursing home take my mother n law's home even though my family has lived there for a year?

We had a bankruptcy that now has been dismissed (we only did it to save our house, and lost it, so we are going to wait and do chapter 7-this is another post)

So we moved in with my mother n law. We helped her with care in return for a place to stay.

She has had a stroke. It is unclear whether we will be able to bring her back home, but we are

going to move heaven and earth to do so. First we have to see how much rehab progress she makes.

Unfortunately it looks like she may end up needing to be in a nursing home. She once told me if this happens they will take the house. It is in her name. What is the law with this, and I am told we should have had her sign the home over to us. Should we still do this (we didn't before due to bankruptcy) and then how long must it be in our name to prevent it from being used for nursing home costs? I am hoping we can get her home, but we have to plan.
