  • Is it illegal for your employer to ask about charitable contributions you have made?

I work for a company that has a program to allow employees to give charitable gifts towards organizations directly from Payroll. Overall that's pretty nice but I feel that they do it for the wrong reasons; they set internal goals for pledge amounts and hound people to respond to the program. In the past they have said it's mandatory to respond even if not donating.

This year in the presentation they had wording like "Have the employees donated money elsewhere? If so, ask them where and ask them to provide proof so {insert the name of the company} can get credit for it".

This bothers me because it's for the wrong reasons, it's not for charity but industry recognition. I want to know if it's specifically illegal in any form or fashion.

  • Dogs fight over the same toy sometimes ending violently. What can I do?

I have a white german shepherd(1yr 80lb) and my girlfriend has a border collie mix(6 yrs 60lb). For the most part they get along but they are both alpha male personalities. They play roughly and mostly pin each other etc and from time to time are humpers. They always want each others toys no matter if they are chewing on the same toy or not. They both do this(go after the others toy) but I have only ever seen it get violent when the white shepherd refuses to give up a toy. It goes from playing to mean I'm going to hurt you attitude with mean biting and all. I usually end up using my outside voice and grabbing both collars and pulling them apart (I'm 6'3" 200lb so they both understand me as boss). This instantly stops it but I don't want it to get to this point for multiple reasons including fear of being bit. What can I do to stop this? We try to take the toys away but sometimes we have to make sure they are being entertained and not destroying the house. They play well anytime a toy isn't involved although it may be rough. The border collie is fixed, the white shepherd is not and I am unsure if he will be or not. He may be shown which requires no alterations. Letting them work it out is not going to work as it might end up with one seriously injured. Both are excellent dogs other then that. Thanks in advance!

I have read other advice but the fact that the dogs get violent made this question different.
