  • Looking for advice on new gaming PC?

    Hello Everyone,

I am looking to upgrade my old gaming computer with a new model and wanted to get some opinions on what I had put together. I used to game a lot more frequently but not so much anymore but I feel that part of that is because my system is having trouble handling the games. My main games I would play are: World of Warcraft, COD, Battlefield, Sims 4 and a number of Steam games but mainly DayZ. I don't think I would really go back to a lot those (except Sims 4) but I still want something that gives me the option as well as potentially picking up new games.

Here's what I've put together as my first run through; it's from Ironside Computers and as it stands is right about at the max budget I would want to spend:

    Fiend Advanced

Case - Ironside Fiend Case White

Noise Reduction - Noise Reduction Level 2 - Noise Dampening Foam

Internal Lighting - Ironside RGB LED Strip

Processor - Intel Core i5-6600 3.3GHz (Quad Core)

CPU Cooling - Advanced Air Cooling

PC Liquid Coolant - *Requires Iron Tundra Liquid Cooling Systems

    Motherboard - H110 Chipset [Max 16gb Memory]

    Memory - 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2133Mhz

Primary Hard Drive - Samsung 850 EVO 120GB SSD

    Secondary Hard Drive - 1TB

Optical Drive - Blu-Ray Writer / DVD Writer

Graphics Card - Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 2GB

Power Supply - EVGA 600 Watt Power Supply

    Operating System - Windows 10 64 Bit

Networking - Standard Onboard Ethernet (No Wi-fi)

  • Upgrading Ram on Alienware Aurora R2?

Question about upgrading some Ram, below are some of my system specs:

    Memory:

    DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-14900

    Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-10600, DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 PC3-14900, DDR3 (non-ECC)

    Maximum Memory: 16GB

    Slots: 4

    P55 Motherboard

    XP 64bit

I was looking around at different options and came across this:

    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9Q-16GBRL

    for about $160.00

Is this a good deal? Are there any issues with compatibility that I am missing? The last time I messed around with Ram was when I added a small amount to a family member's computer and that was a while ago. I just want to make sure everything will work and find a reliable brand.

Any input or suggestions are appreciated!

  • Finding old housing assessments from 2012?

I am in a probate process for a relative who passed away in December of 2012 and to complete the paperwork I need to get an official looking sheet that gives the estimation of property value. Zillow has the current market value (even if it's not completely correct) but it's only for current dates and I can't seem to find a way to look up a past date. They have an option to show a graph so I can get an idea of the value at the at time but it doesn't actually take you to a breakdown sheet or anything.

Does anyone know of any other websites, or ways to get a past home value estimation from previous years?

  • Need dental treatment advice?

I have always had dental problems since I was a kid, but over the past few years it has always seemed to get worse. In the past four years or so I have had about $2,300 worth of work done (cavities filled, root canals, crowns etc) and finally everything seemed to be fixed and it would be maintenance. Before I had all this work done I admit I wasn't very good about flossing or using mouthwash, I would brush but not always very well. Once everything was done though I made it a point to improve my dental routine: brushed every morning, brush really well at night, use floss and mouthwash before bed. I even would bring a travel kit with toothpaste, floss and mouthwash with me to work so I could sometimes brush after lunch.

The next few cleanings went alright, two minor cavities here, another on the next visit. Small stuff though. My least cleaning vising towards the end of 2011 wasn't so good, six more cavities were found but still considered minor so I didn't need to get them taken care of right away. Now, about 6 months later I noticed a large build up of tartar on my upper and lower front teeth. Just seemed to appear very quickly since I had never noticed it really before. Went back to the dentist and now I have another twelve cavities or so, need a root canal and two separate crowns. So about another $1,500 worth of work. I'm frustrated and surprised to say the least. I had thought I had been really good about my dental hygiene but either I am missing something or I really just have terrible genes when it comes to my teeth.

So now I could really use some advice on possible treatments. Any and all. My dentist said that getting everything filled and getting the crowns etc would be the best way but I had asked them if getting implants or something would be something to consider. They said that was way too drastic and I would only need to consider that if my teeth were falling out. I kind of feel like I am just sort of fixing a flat tire over and over with patches and things when I should just get a new tire. Any advice at all about treatment options or just dental hygiene in general? I really don't want to keep repeating this cycle every few years.

  • Need opinions about computers?

I am looking a get a new computer for a family member for christmas and although I have some ideas I am interested to see if anyone has any suggestions for a decent machine. I am looking to get something more along the lines of a gaming computer but not as high as an Alienware, my budget I am trying to keep it around would be between $500-$800. Just need the computer, no monitor or anything extra (at least at the moment). So any ideas of a fairly good, mid price range gaming computer might be?

  • Need opinion for COD MW3?

I plan to buy this game once released but I am still unsure as to which platform I want to get it on. My first thought was PC because I seem to be using my computer more often for games now at the moment, but usually and for all other COD games I get them on xbox. I don't have a gold subscription to xbox right now tho so I wouldn't be able to do any online play right away. I also have a ps3 but am not too familiar with the controls but am still open to getting game for it. It breaks down to this:

-PC: used regularly and have internet, never had a COD or many games for it. Alienware so it should be plenty capable of handling it.

-xbox: most familiar with the controls and the online community but no gold account at the moment.

-ps3: haven't played FPS games on here in a while, controls still throw me off a bit. Free online community tho.

So, opinions? What would you recommend?

  • First motorcycle oil change question?

Been riding out in Las Vegas for a while now and need to do my first oil change on my 2011 Honda CBR250R and I just read in the owners manual that it recommends 10W30 but the oil I have and had planned to use is 10W40. Will this make a huge difference or harm the engine?

  • how loud is a Honda CBR 250R?

I have a fairly new 2011 Honda CBR250R and was trying to determine how loud the engine might sound to pedestrians. So far I haven't been able to find any really definitive answers in any reviews, mainly I need to commute through a community with some older residents that I don't want to bother with making too much noise and while I don't ride recklessly sports bikes have sort of a bad rap around here. I have never owned a bike before and can't really tell if it sounds loud too others. While riding it always seems loud to me at times but I know that because of my close proximity that's just the way it is, but would neighbors in the community be bothered by it?

  • Need motorcycle advice (financial)?

Recently I bought a new motorcycle and planned to go through some financing to help build my credit score but as I look over the paperwork more and think about it I am wishing I had just paid it all in cash. The finance charges is high and by the end of it all I will have paid considerably more than what I think a reasonable price would be. The dealer added a bunch to the listed sales price as well. Since the finance period just started there is listed as over two years of payments still, I suppose I have a few questions then:

    1) Since I have a signed contract with the pricing and everything am I pretty much stuck with the final financed amount?

    2) Would it help to pay off early, like within 6 months?

    3) Would it be possible to renegotiate with the dealership about paying the rest in cash instead and forgetting the financing completely?

    4) Would any of the above hurt my credit?

I had rushed into the sale and made some mistakes (first time dealing with a dealership) so I know I got screwed a bit and will be losing in some way, I guess I am just trying to save face a bit. Any advice?

  • Car sputters when stopped...?

I have a 1994 Aura Integra with roughly 184,000 miles and last week took it in for a new water pump. In general there has been no major maintenance and it has always run fine but when I got it back I noticed it sputtered when sitting idle and just overall seemed to do drive a bit rougher. Any idea what caused this, or what I should do next?

  • Need help identifying a song?

I've been trying to remember a song but can't remember any of the lyrics. What I can remember is that one of the main lines the singer would use was "aye-aye-aye-aye-aye"

The music video seemed to be on a beach and I think the song had the general theme of "you are my one and only girl" type of song. It was by a young male artist who actually looked to be in his teens (maybe around 15 or so) and the song was upbeat, probably best classified as a pop/radio type genre. I know it's not a lot to go off of but if you think you may recognize this song any help would be appreciated. Although I don't know a year I would guess it is probably no more than 3 years old.

  • Would I be ok keeping some groceries outside?

I just came home with some groceries like milk and sealed meat and things but my fridge is not working. It can be replaced in the morning but I'm not sure what time that will be by, but would it be alright to leave them on the patio overnight or should I try and find some other means to keep them cold? Right now it's about 45F and may only drop another 5-8 degrees according to the weather report.

  • What's a good simple shooter game for PC?

My dad is a big fan of simple shooter games, lots of time they include zombies or simple flying games where there aren't a lot of controls. I'm a fan of World of Warcraft but something like that is much too complex for his taste. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for games that could be bought in store or downloaded online that are entertaining.

Also, if anyone has played Diablo, if they could let me know how the gameplay is on that as well. He showed interest in that game but again, i'm not sure of the complexity of the controls.

  • why does my pc alt + tab automatically?

Lately whenever I have been playing World of Warcraft after a few minutes I am suddenly kicked back out to my desktop. The game is still open and all I have to do is alt tab back but it has been getting annoying. No other programs are running in the background and this has never happened before. Is there any reason why is has started doing this, and is there anything I can do to make it stop?

  • Chipped a wisdom tooth?

I chipped a wisdom tooth today and about half of the tooth is gone. It isn't painful unless I really poke at it and the remainder of the tooth is a little jagged but not sharp enough to cut my tongue or anything. I know I need to see a dentist asap but what's the longest I can give myself? My dentist has really weird office hours and they never seem to be in on my days off of work. If I am very careful about what I eat will I be alright if I wait until next week (I'm also moving in the next few days when I am off from work)?

  • late payment on co-signed credit card?

I have a credit card that my dad co-signed for to help raise my credit but recently I realized I had a missed payment (first and only one) by two weeks. I paid it in full as soon as I realized it but I was wondering if it will have any effect on his credit, or if the penalty will be worse for my credit because it is a co-signed card?

  • Nordrassil Armor, is it worth it?

I am a lvl 70 druid tank and so far I am having a really hard time finding good tank gear. I came across this set which looks like it would be a great set to have but I know it requires running a few different intances and bosses to get the tokens needed to purchase it. For those of you who have this gear or know a lot about it, is it worth it to get? And do the instances have to be run on heroic or can you run them on reg?....and please, if you know of other gear that is good feel free to post links to it.

  • what's a good headset for WoW?

I play WoW pretty frequently and have found it very useful to have a headset to talk with teammates but I haven't been able to find a decent one. So far I have gone through two different brands (Logitech and Dynex) and they have both had the same problem that my voice is very soft and people can barely hear me. I think it's due to the fact the mic is far from my mouth but I am unable to move it closer. Are there any headsets that work well in game that you have used? I don't want to keep spending money on headsets I won't use again.
