Are we buying this idea that one shouldn't have to show photo ID to vote?
If so, why is it okay to require an ID for other constitutional rights like purchasing a gun?
12 AnswersElections9 years agoWhat would have happened had McCain been elected?
I hear all the time the old "are you better off than you were 4 years ago" line, but how would we be doing had McCain been elected? Let's assume the same configuration Congress that Obama has had. I think there should be a section for domestic and foreign affairs in the reply. Obama lovers (and I know you are out there), please be a little objective, or at least show some knowledge of what McCain proposed when you say how bad he'd have been in comparison.
8 AnswersElections9 years agoIs it still Bush's fault?
You can fill in the 'it' with whatever from the economy to the tsunami in Japan. What I'm getting at is are you still mad a W.? If you never blamed W., please hold fire on this one - or just hit the interesting button to let us know you are out there... I'm trying to see if he looks a little better to his critics 3 years removed from office.
18 AnswersPolitics9 years agoIs Social Security Insurance or an entitlement program?
I always heard that the withholding for Social Security was an insurance payment, and the withholding labeled SSI, the I being for insurance. And what we get in benefits is proportional in some way to the amount we paid in...
But now we're being told that if we go back to the rate that is higher, but still insufficient to fund the program we'll be paying higher taxes. So is Social Security an insurance program we pay for, or a benefit program like welfare that is taken from taxes?

14 AnswersPolitics10 years agoWhy did the President decide on Sep 7/8 to give the jobs speech?
Seriously, I am confused about the timing. Why not give it this week, or last week, or last month? Why did it have to be before Congress? Is he hoping for a Joe Wilson moment?
4 AnswersCurrent Events10 years agoHas this 1984 Orwell quote come to pass?
The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power.

6 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoIs this joke funny or racist?
The Dept Of Defense briefed the President this morning. They told Obama that 2 Brazilian soldiers were killed in Iraq . To everyone's surprise, all of the color drained from Obama's face.
Then he collapsed onto his desk, head in his hands, visibly shaken, almost in tears.
Finally, he composed himself and asked, 'Just how many is a brazilian?'
This is especially funny since he obviously has no understanding of billion or trillion either.
21 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWas Coach K right when asked about the President's bracketology?
What I mean is shouldn't the President be too busy to worry about college basketball brackets, his bowling score, watching the Wizards lose to the Bulls, going on Jay Leno, pulling weeds in Michele's new garden or even spending the morning on the web hosting a town hall?
We do have two wars - err contingency operations, an economic downturn, a recalcitrant North Korea planning firing long range missile launches, a drug war on our border, Illegal Immigration, a flood in the midwest, a holocaust in Darfor, a civil war in the Ivory Coast, a looming trade war with China, pirates off the Somali coast, oppression in Burma, near civil war in Pakistan, nuclear ambitions in Iran, the looming energy crisis, Russian provocations in Georgia, and God only knows what classified crisis de jour that we don't even know about.
So is this really a good use of his time?
11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhich Obama was correct?
The one in September who in answer to John McCain's statement that the fundamentals of the economy were strong said "what economy is he talking about?" Or the one who said on March 13th that our economy is "fundamentally strong?"
Yeah there is a little jab at the President for double talk, but the real question I'm asking is the one about the fundamentals of the economy - strong or weak?

6 AnswersCivic Participation1 decade agoDo you regret voting for Obama/Biden?
Obviously if you didn't vote for them you can't really answer, but I'm just curious if those who did, regret it now and if so why? It's been an eventful couple of months so far.
