  • Affordable webhosting including 3+ domains?

Are there any good but affordable (the cheaper the better) web-hosting (web-hotel) service that includes three or more (3+) domains (ie. registering several domain-names included)? It may be one of their more advanced (and expensive) plans (eg. more storage and bandwidth than their cheapes plan, but also including more than one domain).

I'm after one that at least includes PHP and (several!) MySQL-database - so I gusess Unix/Linux-based, not Windows. I would very much have cPanel with Fantastico (or something very similar).

Personal experience, suggestions and recomandation welcome - as well as links to good sites recomending/comparing services.

  • Cheap but good registrar for .com and .net domains?

Can somebody reccomend a cheap but good registrar for .com and .net domains? I want to register a couple of domain, pretty much as cheaply as possible. I'm not after hosting, just registering the domains. I will howerver eventually use the domains, so the registrar must allow me to set a new nameserver and such, so it points to my hosting (which I'll buy seperately later).

Personal experience and suggestions welcome, as well as suggestion for sites with review of registrars.

  • How strong alcohol can yest make? How about vinegar, how strong can it get naturally?

How many percent alcohol can yest make of something fermenting before the yest itself dies (or can't make it stronger)?

Vinegar is made by a micro-organism from alcohol... What is the limit for how strong (in percent) the alcohol can be before the micro-organism can't live in it an make vinegar? How strong can the vinegar become before the micro-organism dies or can't make it stronger?

  • What do you get when you distill mead?

Mead is "beer" brewed of honey rather than the sugar form germinating grain. What is it called what you get when you distill it?

I mean distilled beer is whiskey, distilled wine is cognac, distilled fermented molasses is rum, distilled apple-cider is calvados and distilled fermented agave is taquila... so what is distilled mead? Does it have a name?

  • Any sites with ideas for programs - perhaps with suggestions, solutions or tutorials?

I need some good ideas to practice my programming-skills (or lack thereof).

I'm most interested in general problems that may be solved in different languages, but problems for a particular language are also of interest.

CLI, GUI or non-interactive doesn't matter.

    Linux or Windows doesn't matter.

C, C++, Java, Perl, Python, PHP... well, anything really.

  • Any good (paid!) web-hosting to recomend?

PHP and MySQL -- PostgreSQL in addition a pluss

cPanel and Fantastico -- the more packages the better

Perl, Python, Ruby and/or CGI would be a pluss

The more unlimited in regards to email-adresses, databases, sub-domains and domains the better

The more space and bandwidth the better

At least one -- preferebly more -- domains included

    Good price

    Preferebly not too overbooked

Not GoDaddy -- not ready to forgive them for their support of very bad bills yet

  • What happen if I press the "X" that appear outside my various "Recent Activities"?

...Like adding adding friends, giving likes, adding to somebody's Wall?

Is the action undone (friend removed, post deleted, like removed)... is it removed from the log completely... or will it just not appear on my profile-page (but it's sort of still there)?

  • Sites with tutorials for PhotoShop/PaintShop/GIMP to make "materials" and logos?

-Making materials like metals, rust, glass, ice, clouds, flames, water and such

-Making logos/texts using these materials -- maybe with 3d effects, shadows, reflections, outlines and such

-Making things like skins from materials (e.g. for WinAmp) -- e.g. looking like stamped-out from sheets of metal, with ridges and grooves, reflection and shadows, and 3d look.

  • I'm a member of demonoid, how do I get invites for my friends?

Will they just pop-up eventually? Must I upload something? Must I apply for an invite to give away? Must I show good conduct? Be active on the board? How?!

  • Good free service for uploading big mail "attachment"?

Can anybody recommend a (free) service where you can upload *large* files (1GB+) and get a link you can put in an email, so the receiver can download the file sort of like an attachment?

Not a "public" filesharing-service (like RapidShare) where everybody can search and download, but private (only those with the specific link).

Links may (and perhaps should) expire after some days (5-30 or so) and/or after being used a few times (5 or so).

    It's important that it's free.

  • Recommended web-stat services?

Could anybody recommend some good -- preferably free -- web-stat services? I know about AddFreeStats, but are there any other good ones?

Especially interested in services that do additional things -- like note user's country, where they go on the the site, where they came from and where they went.

Although I'm mostly interested in services for websites, services for blogs and Facebook are also of interest.

  • What is considered the "best practice" when naming variables, arrays, pointers, ...?

What is considered the "best practice" when naming variables, arrays, pointers, functions, struct/classes and objects/instances (of struct/class)?

Start with an identifying character, like p (as in pData) for pointers? Start with upper or lower-case? Use upper-case if several words (like isOff)? Obviously it will vary some with different languages...

Links to pages laying out good rules would be great.

  • Ubuntu or Debian: Is there a historic GID for the wheel-group?

Debian and Ubuntu have occasionally reviewed their list of reserved UID and GID, and retired some of them (like the 'operator' user, which I believe had a UID of 23).

I was wondering if the 'wheel' group has ever had a number reserved for it, and if yes, what that number was?

  • Router and ADSL-modem... best order to turn them on?

I several computers connected to wireless-router. This router includes both firewall, NAT and a DHCP-server, so it assigned local IP-addresses to my computers. It's on 192.168.2.XXX.

I also got an ADSL-modem, which also includes firewall, NAT and DHCP-server. Sadly, it only got one working LAN-connection. This is on 192.168.5.XXX.

The ADSL-modem gets my external IP-address from my ISP. The ADSL-modem assigns an internal IP-address in the 192.168.5-series -- usually 192.168.5.2 to my Router. The Router assigns internal IP-addresses to my computers from the 192.168.2-series.

What is the best order to turn everything back on? Should I start with the modem, followed by the router, and then the computers... or should I start with the router, and follow it with either the computers or the modem?

  • Linux: Program to parse a torrent-file and list file-names and perhaps other information?

I'm not after a bit-torrent client, just a program to parse a torrent-file and list various information -- like file-names and trackers -- stored within. If a client can do this (ie. not download the torrent, just dump the information from the torrent-file) with special options, that would work too.
