  • worried that medications are affecting kidneys?

My husband suffers from mental illness and takes approx 15 pills per day. At his last doctor appt., he was told they will need to monitor his kidneys because his numbers from a blood test were "borderline". I would like to know how badly his medications are for his kidneys and if they are the cause of this problem. He is only 27, and has been taking these meds for approx. one year. Could his meds be affecting his kidneys so quickly? and what will this mean after long term use of these meds that he will need to be on forever?

  • I'm worried my infant may have nystagmus... help!?

My son is just over 3 months old and has horizontal eye movements almost all of the time. We took him to see his doctor today and will be seeing a specialist soon since she was unfamiliar with this condition. She did however make a phone call to another doctor and they mentioned it sometimes goes away by 6 months of age. I really hope so! But if anyone has any information on infants with rapid eye movements like this, please share your story with me. what the symptoms were, what you did to help, any learning disabilities because of it, etc... thank you!

  • What are the vision capibilities of a 3 month old baby?

My son is 3 months old and doesn't seem to focus on things very well. His eyes move around a lot and hardly become fixated on a single object, like a toy in front of him. I mentioned it to his doctor on his 2 month visit and she wasn't concerned and said it was normal. But he is now 3 months and I'm just wondering if this is still normal for his age? Anyone have this issue? What happened? Am I just being an overly worried first time mom? lol. please help! thanks!

I was told and have read that at this age, I should just allow my child to eat as much as wanted. Some people however have commented that 32 oz a day is too much. I have an appt with his doctor in about a week and I will ask but I just wanted some opions.. thanks.

note: he was born @ 6lbs 14oz and 20" long. at his one month appt he was 7lbs 14oz and 22" long.

  • If you live in the Toronto area, I'd like to hear from you! Thinking of moving; how do YOU like it there?

I am currently living in western New York with my husband and newborn son. We have been thinking about making the move to Toronto, Canada for the last few years. My husband is a chef who graduated from culinary school in 2006 and he thinks it would be a good move for his career, as well as provide a nice place to live and raise our child. If you live in the Toronto area, please let me know your feelings on living there. the good, the bad, what ever... thanks!

  • seeking your opinion... do you think it is safe to take a 4 month old baby on a plane from New York to Vegas?

(about a 4 hour flight I believe) My sister-in-law is getting married and I am expected to go with my husband and our new baby, who will be 4 months old at the time of the trip. I feel this might not be a good idea and am really nervous about it. I'd like to know how you'd feel in the situation...thanks.

  • I'm not producing breat milk or colostrum and had my baby about 4 days ago...help!?

I vaginally gave birth to my son about 4 days ago and have been trying to breast feed him. He doesn't seem to latch on very well although we are still working on that, however I am wondering if the problem is that I am not not producing any milk or even any colostrum. I have been manually stimulating my breasts as well to try and get something started but so far no luck. I am worried that if nothing happens in the next day or two I will have to go with formula. Anyone ever have this problem? or know what the problem might be? and what did you do? -thanks for any tips you may have!

  • Why would my doctor do a membrane sweep when I was only @ 37 weeks? ?

At my last appt my doctor did a membrane sweep on me. She also stated that I was about 1, almost 2 cm dilated. I hadn't heard much about this procedure but after looking it up online, I am confused as to why she would do one when I was only 37 weeks along. Everything I read says it is usually done when a woman is at or past her due date... then starting the next day I started having cramps and lost my mucus plug but now, about 4 days later, I haven't had any real contractions.

anyone have any idea why should would have done this @ 37 weeks?

  • Did I lose my mucus plug? and is it a sign of a possible problem if it was a yellowish color?

I am about 38 weeks pregnant and today I think I lost my mucus plug. I have heard most people and books say it is brownish color or clear and sometimes with a little blood. What I had was more yellowish then brown ...could this be a sign of a problem? like an infection or something? I've also been having pains in my lower pelvic area (like bad menstrual cramps) on and off for the last 2 days, I called my doctor with this info but she didn't seem worried. But I still am! lol.

  • I have light blonde hair now but I'd like to dye it a med brown color. what's the best way to do so?

In the past going from light blonde to a brown color has left my hair with a greenish/grey tint, which I want to avoid. so without spending a lot by going to a salon, what products would be best to give a nice looking color?

  • Moving from the US to Canada...?

So my husband and I are seriously thinking about moving from western New York to the Toronto, Canada area. My sister-in-law made the move a few years ago and said it was the best thing she ever did and is very happy there. We are expecting our first child in 7 months and she says with their health care system, good jobs, lots of stuff to do, etc, we should make the move too. Having health care covered is def a plus with a baby on the way but I am scared about much a move! If anyone has any information from their own experiences, please let me know. I would like to know how it would work to get a job there, make the move, became a resident or citizen, etc. the more info you can give, the better! I am trying to look into some of this stuff online but haven't had much luck so even if you just know some good websites, that would be helpful too! thanks! :)

  • I have a bump on my nose similar to a freckle. I would like to get rid of it on my own but not sure what to do

I have a spot on my nose from the sun, similar to a freckle but it has a slight bump to it...I had it checked by a doctor and he said it is nothing to be concerned with medically, but I hate it being there. I don't have any kind of health insurance at the moment so I am trying to see if there is any at home treatments I could try for the discoloration and/or the bump. anyone have any ideas?

  • Car problem; isn't the battery, I got that replaced this morning but the car still wants to die out, any ideas

I thought that my Jeep Liberty needed a new battery when it didn't start last night (until I had it jumped). so I got the battery replaced this morning. After starting it back up, it still wanted to die out. I just had the battery done at walmart, so they are limited on the work they do...but they said it wasn't the alternater. Any machanics out there have a good idea of what the problem could be? They mentioned something in the fuel line could be the problem but I'd like any car experts opinion/ideas. Thanks!
