  • Is the belt running to the supercharger on a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix necessary for the car to run and drive?

A very small directional pulley locked up and slung the belt to the supercharger. It is not connected to the main serpentine belt system, as far as the alternator, water pump, etc. My parents are on a very limited, fixed income, and we just need to keep the car running to get him back and forth to dialysis 3 days a week. If it is not an absolute necessity to have on the car, we don't need it at this point.

  • Can we get FHA financing on a home that needs foundation repair?

The seller has disclosed on the MLS that they will pay for the minor foundation repair at closing. I am willing to pay over what the current seller will pay for the repair to make sure it is right (concrete pilings vs. steel piers). Will this be a major issue to get the loan? The foundation issues are very minor, and there is only one noticable crack. I would, however, prefer the steel piers instead of the concrete pilings that the owner is willing to pay for. I need help on this because I can't find anything on the HUD website regarding repairs pre- or post-purchase, and I really want this house!!

  • Lawsuit after changing from SP to LLC?

The company I work for changed to LLC this year, SP for 4-5 years previous. Roof installed on customer (business, in 2004), repeated callbacks for leaks due to customer not wanting furr strips (slats). 2 year workmanship warranty out in 2006. Previous secretary has apparently not kept records (I have been here 2 years), as we have no records pertaining to roof or installation, except that we know the company did it, and have 2 employees still here that were on the job and the callbacks for repairs. Now being sued for deceptive practices (Texas), unknown amount. Any ideas of what we can do?

  • Debit card unauthorized charges?

I did a one time authorization to "X" Satellite Provider with my debit card, on spouse's account, my name not on contract with provider. Spouse got behind on bill, and "X" went back to my debit card for the amount. Spouse is not on my checking account, never has been. We are in Texas, and "X" company refused to reverse charges. My bank states this will be fraudulent activity, but my concern is that I did authorize a one-time transaction.. I have filed police report, and fraud report from bank. How long does it usually take to free up my account, and what right did "X" have to debit my account of which I am sole owner? Spouse has only survivorship on bank account.

Also, "X" states that since we are married, I am responsible for his account, therefore assuming that my sole-owned checking account belongs to spouse.

  • How can someone claim ownership of property when they paid it off for someone else?

In a friends divorce, she was granted the home until disabled son turned 18. She was to pay taxes, he was to pay land payment. He did not pay land payments and property went into foreclosure. His father went on the last possible day before the sale and paid property off. The land was originally purchased by his father, and deeded to him after the divorce proceeding (so the wife couldn't touch ownership). All paperwork sent in originally states her ex-husband was owner of property free and clear of any emcumberances. Within 4 weeks, his father was able to get deed to property from land board stating that he paid property off and it was his.....without signature from his son signing the property over to him. Land board allowed this, then ex-father in law evicted her off property. She was not staying there at the time due to disabled son being on hospice and needing to be close to his hospital.

Anyone have a logical explanation of how this might have happened??

  • Judge refuses to hear cases?

A friend with a disabled child was in court 2 weeks ago for personal property. Texas Land Board issued a clear title/deed to ex-father-in-law after his son defaulted on loan. The loan was paid off before actual time of foreclosure, and loan was in son's name at the time. She was trying to get her fair share of property, but was having to fight both ex and ex father-in-law (he has money, she doesn't). Judge refused to hear all cases that day, made all cases go to back and "settle it". Now she has lost the property valued at $85,000.00 and had to have all personal property removed and out by last Friday at midnight.

2 questions: How can Land Board issue a clear title to property to someone who sold property to son WHILE IT WAS ALREADY IN A COURT BATTLE, and what gives any judge the right to refuse to hear cases?

Her son has been disabled since the age of 13 months, and was not expected to live past 5 years old. He is now 16 and completely dependent upon her.

  • Re: Kenwood Stereo Problems?

I have a Kenwood KDC-MPV8025 that is having problems. It will not eject a CD, and now the face opens and closes repeatedly. We cannot listen to anything. I have tried reset when I had problems before and it always reset. Now it will do nothing more than open, display will flash on then off, and close. Reset and 5 were the buttons used according to the owners manual, and it will not reset with them now. Aside sending the radio to Kenwood, is there something I can do to fix this?

Now, the radio will come on as long as a Rt 44 Sonic cup is in the cupholder below it.... It stops the face from opening completely, and will stop at about a 45 degree angle. Do you think that maybe it is not making good contact with the head unit? The piece that comes off to keep the entire radio from being stolen is the part that sits on the cup on the far left side of the unit.

  • Benefits for spouses of Texas inmates?

Does anyone know if the state of TX offers any benefits for the spouses and families of inmates? ie, a spouse with no job, home, or vehicle who is having to live with non-family members due to his incarceration? I don't think she would qualify for food stamps or medicaid due to our income.

  • How can I get homeowner to do repairs on rent house?

I moved into a 4/3 after April 1, 2007. Have had multiple problems with plumbing. A plumber hired by the home warranty company found 1 plumbing problem on the first try, kitchen sink not draining. Dug a hole and exposed the pipe that is not run to sewer. Now, 2 showers will not drain, new plumber came out and can't find the problem. He thinks that it is the same problem as the kitchen sink. Now I have flies everywhere, mosquitos, and goodness knows what else. They have been aware since May of these problems, and the sink drain is a health hazard since there is a garbage disposal hooked to it. I am keeping a log of the communications via e-mail, so they cannot say the weren't made aware.

The question is this: Do I have the right to deduct from the rent for not being able to use those 2 bathrooms, and for the time and money spent trying to fix the draining outside away from the house?? I still have 9 months remaining on my lease, but cannot afford to move right now.
