if you find an old gift check, is it okay to cash it?
How long after the event the check was given to commemorate would you cash a gift check? Not a large check, less than 100 dollars. If it was given by someone you don't often speak to, should you call them first? Is it polite to mention it?
8 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoMy toddler is sleeping UNDER the fitted sheet in his crib - what do I do?
So here's the story - My toddler (he turns 3 next month) is in a crib - likes the crib and has great sleeping habits since he was 3 months old. However, over the last month he has started worming his way UNDER the fitted crib sheet - I bought some with more fabric in an effort to replace worn/stained ones, and he loves them. I will come in to wake him from naps or in the morning and he's under there, sheet still tucked in all the corners. He takes his blankie, his dragons, all the crib stuff under there with him. At first I thought he was doing it because he was bored in the morning before I came in to get him or whatever, but he's sleeping under there.
I have no idea how or why he does it, really. He seems to like playing under sheets (like a fort or something) during the day. He giggles and thinks it's funny when I go in to get him in the morning.
I tried switching back to the old sheets and he strips them from the crib and often takes off his PJs and even his diaper in protest when that happens, and often does not fall asleep right away or sleep as long. He's not potty trained, so that's pretty gross. With these sheets he's more often fully dressed, sleeping better, etc. I tried adding a blanket, tucked in at the foot of the crib, in case he was doing it because he is cold. He ignores it.
Is this a problem? Has anyone else had a little one who does this? Should I bite the bullet and switch the convertible crib to the toddler bed? Get him a sleeping bag? Is it a phase that will go away?

4 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoDo these factors help in the appreciation of my home or actually lower the value?
Here's the situation:
The home is in a newer area of Tampa, FL and 4 years old. We are the second owners, so we got in before the housing bubble burst and paid about $105/sq ft. when the average price was 110-115/sq ft. It's now a year later, the bubble in Tampa has definitely burst and area comps are indicating an average price of 85-90/ sq ft.
But the area around us is up and coming - where 3 years ago there were nothing but cow fields, now we have an existing shopping area, retail frontage, nearby grocery stores and restaurants. There is also a new mall being built next year practically across the street from our subdivision, and a new hospital going in 6 months after that less than a mile away.
Do these things help to mitigate the current slump? We have no immediate plans to move but this is our first house and my husband is feeling a bit trapped and depressed. We are first time homebuyers so we have no equity in our home yet; he's feeling the drop in values keenly.

6 AnswersPacking & Preparation1 decade agoHow do you feel about Tip-out or Tip-share in your restaurant? Is it truly voluntary? How much do you give?
In my restaurant, tip-out is 2.2% of your sales to the bussers, 1.1% to the bar, and .8% to the food runners. We all get paid the same lame less than minimum wage salary. I don't mind doing it, but if I sell $1000 I owe these people $41 dollars regardless of what I made. Last week I got seriously burned while sharing a party - the person I was sharing with made a mistake on her half of the order, so the automatic 18% gratuity could not be added. The party was full of crazy people and half of them thought the gratuity had been added, so we ended up making 15 dollars apiece on a 480 dollar tab. Didn't matter though - still have to tip out on the sales. I ended the night tipping out more than I took home! If we don't tip out appropriately, the staff members can complain to managers and you will be punished, either through channels officially or punitively through scheduling or which sections you are assigned to.
I was just wondering what the experiences of others were.
8 AnswersFood Service1 decade agoHow long should you wait after drinking to take a prescription drug? And vice versa?
I have been prescribed flexeril and hydrocodone. Effects me somewhat but not too bad and is helping with muscle pain in my neck and back. I have a date tonight and I would like to have a cocktail - not alot just one or two.
2 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoI was refered by a doctor to see a Chiropractor for a stiff neck. Advice on finding a good one? Experiences?
This doctor at an urgent care clinic didn't have anyone specific to refer me to, just said it would keep happening. He suggested the stiff neck was due to untreated whiplash in 2001. I am taking Flexeril and Vicoden that he prescribed, but don't really feel better yet. I have been led to believe that Chiropractors are kind of a joke, but am willing to try it. I'm not sure how to go about finding one and would like to hear experiences from the Answers community. I am in Tampa, FL if by chance you are local but would love to hear stories from anywhere.
4 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoIs it immoral to get a girl on girl massage from a masseuse if you are married?
I am married and happy but love watching lesbian porn. I also like massages. Is it immoral for me to get a massage from a parlor or masseuse that I think might . . . take it a bit too far?
I love my husband but boy the sex is not what it could be.
This is all hypothetical, I'm just asking.

1 AnswerMedia & Journalism1 decade agoWhat's the best 2006 family car?
I'm looking for reliable, good gas mileage, decent cargo space, etc. I will probably buy a 2 year old lease turn in at the end of the summer, so I am just starting to save. I would like to pay cash for the car.
3 AnswersBuying & Selling1 decade agoWhat is the standard federal income tax on an annual income of $785,000 for a married couple filing jointly?
I am curious because it has been reported that was the income of the Bushes this year. I found that the tax they reported paying (185k or 24.3%) was an amount I considered low, percentagewise, for that rate of income. I find it hard to believe that I (having considerably less income) am in a higher tax bracket than George and Laura Bush.
These are the things that make me long for our government to go ahead and repeal the 16th amendment, institute the Fair Tax, and restore sanity to the funding of our government. Do you know about the Fair Tax? Check out www.fairtax.org. Do your elected representives support the Fair Tax? Check out www.vote-smart.org to find out.
