  • Best guardian/protector dog for house with small child?

I am a single mother with a 4-year-old son. In October, we are going to be moving out of my parents' house and into our own. The house is in a nice neighborhood, but I'd like to have a dog around for my own peace of mind, preferably a medium to large sized dog. The dog has to be good with children, of course, and able to be left alone during the day. The house DOES have a huge fenced-in yard so the dog wouldn't be stuck in the house. I've never owned a dog so this is a totally new situation for me. Any suggestions?

  • How do I get started going to nursing school?

I am 23, in the middle of a divorce, working a full-time job, with a 2-year-old that lives with me full-time. I want to go to nursing school. I've been to college before, 3 semesters. How do I go about getting in? What can I do to prepare? Any tips on balancing my son, my full-time job and school? Any advice is very much appreciated.

  • How to make new friends?

I am going through a divorce, 23-year-old single mom. I have never been good at making new friends. Most of my old friends have moved or gotten strung out on drugs since I got married, so I basically have nobody. I haven't been able to make friends at work either; everyone is at least 15 years older than me and already cliquey.

I live in a fairly small town, and there aren't many opportunities to meet new people, plus I'm fairly shy. People assume that I'm a b*tch because I don't talk to them right away.

Any advice that will help, please!

  • Property rights?

My husband left. He has not called or come by to see our son in a week. He had planned to pick up his furniture on Saturday. Can I legally keep him from taking the furniture until the judge orders me to give it to him? (It is in the home we own together, which he has allowed me and our child to keep.)

  • Getting divorced?

Some of you have read my previous questions about my husband walking out on me, etc. He is filing for the divorce tomorrow. I would like any advice anyone can give me on divorce, becoming a single parent and how to find the "right one" next time.

My husband has completely changed. He seems like a different person in the week since he left. So I'm at a loss right now. The only thing I know is that I have to take care of our son.

Any advice (please, no rude comments) would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

  • 300 situps a day or 700 3 days a week?

Which is more effective to flatten and tone my abs? I know Britney Spears does 700 3 days a week, but that seems kinda time-consuming.

  • How to get my husband to come home?

On Sunday morning, my husband announced that he didn't love me anymore and he was moving out. After talking about it on Monday, after calming down, we agreed that he would take a week to think about his decision, and either come home or file for a divorce. We've been married less than a year, and we have a 20-month-old son.

I told my husband that I wanted to work things out badly, and reminded him of the vows we took when we got married. I'm not sure if he's really thinking about coming back or if he's just playing games. A couple of times I've talked to him and he's been very nice and communicated with me, but other times he's been so rude.

What do I do or say to convince him to keep trying?
