Bad management practices, best way to handle?
Our manager leaves work any time she pleases, is sleeping with the married owner of the shop who handles our store's trucks, steals merchandise, bullies employees, lies about terminating people who actually quit, gives half assed promotions without proper training or pay raises, talks about her sex life while in the office, the list goes on and in. Her immediate supervisor does nothing to her for any of this behavior and the best we can figure is because her numbers are good. But aren't there any rules or laws about this? She has 2 people who haven't even been at this place for 6 months practically running it while she runs around, osessing about her married boyfriend. She's barely been manager at the store for just over a year.
So what do we do? I could just look for another job, but why should I have to start over because she doesn't care about her store/employees/customers?
6 AnswersEtiquette6 years agoSent letter of intent to relocate with children via certified mail with return receipt?
Per the requirements in my county in Wisconsin, I sent a letter of intent to relocate via certified mail with return receipt and submitted a copy directly to the courthouse. According to the USPS tracking info, they've tried to deliver twice, and both times it's been "refused by addressee". They told me they will try one more time, then hold the letter for 15 days, and then return it to me if it hasn't been claimed. The county states that the other parent has 15 days to object, in writing, to my relocating with our children. He has to write me a letter and submit a copy to the courts, just as I did.
My question is this - when does the 15 days to object start? From the time they first tried to deliver the letter? From the time the post office sends it back since it was refused? I can't get a clear answer on this from the courthouse or anyone else I have spoken to.
Thanks in advance! (Hopefully I posted this in the right section! If not, please suggest where to repost).
3 AnswersMarriage & Divorce8 years agoGetting married, have kids, will be moving, can the state stop me?
I'm going to be getting married
soon and my fiance is in the
Army and currently is in Texas.
So the plan is to move down
there. I have 3 kids and live
in Wisconsin. Their father
hasn't paid any child support
in just about a year (this
month, not sure of the date).
He hasn't even tried to contact
me since November 2011. I know
that he has a warrant out for
nonpayment of support as well.
I know that I have to write a
certified letter to the father,
detailing my plan and
intentions, and submit a copy
of the letter to the courts in
our county. It says he has 15
days to object and then we'd
have to go to the
judge/commissioner if he
protests the move.
So my questions are:
1. If I do everything by the
book, what is the likelihood of
the state denying me the right
to leave to be with my husband
(we'll likely be married before
I move).
2. Can the state actually deny
me the right to move if my
husband is in the military and
is stationed elsewhere?
4 AnswersMarriage & Divorce8 years agoNeed legal advice for my sister fast please!?
My sister is being dragged thru court for custody of her youngest daughter right now. My niece is 7 months old. She was born in our hometown in Wisconsin, then my sister moved with her then-fiance to Indiana, then left him and came back in the beginning of April. She stated that she was leaving due to his temper and he'd already left marks on her son (3 yrs old) but she hadn't reported it. He has a terrible temper, often getting in her face and screaming to the point of spitting in her face. He never signed a paternity acknowledgment form, so there is no father on file with the state of Wisconsin, no father listed on the birth certificate. She was served papers for an emergency hearing in Indiana, with only 8-9 days notice, and his lawyer refused to let her appear by phone. So she went to court today, where he showed up with his parents and lawyer, and they made decisions about custody, placement, and visitation, based on a verbal acknowledgement of paternity. My sister asked either 2 or 3 times to have this matter held so she could seek legal counsel, but they kept on with proceedings and ignored her requests. They also ordered that her friend was not to be around the baby, because he is a registered sex offender. She is being forced to drive halfway to Indiana, every other weekend, to give the baby up for the weekend to the "father". Also, no papers were signed at this court hearing, she was not given copies of anything, only informed that she'll be served with copies or sent papers via certified mail.
Is any of this legal in any way? We're having trouble finding an attorney that will work with her limited income, and Legal Aide hasn't been very helpful, nor has the Women's Resource Center. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
1 AnswerFamily1 decade agoWhere can I order a custom bedding set?
I have a king size bed and my fiance is a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan, so I'm trying to find a whole set for our bed, but can only find up to full/queen sized sets. I can find pillows and window treatments and all that with no problem - just not king size bedding. I thought maybe if I could find a place that makes custom bedding, they could help me out. Anyone know of any such places? Thanks in advance :)
5 AnswersDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoNeed some legal advice for my mother?
My sister rented a unit in a duplex a couple of years ago and my mother co-signed on a 6 month lease. Since then, my sister renewed the lease without my mother on it, and fell behind on rent and utilities. She moved out of this unit in October. The landlords took it to court and came up with a judgement of $3055 and it's against my sister, my mother, and my sister's boyfriend at the time. Now, they are trying to garnish my mother's wages for up to 20% of each of her paychecks. She just got the letter in the mail today that they were going to start taking money.
So my mom wasn't on the lease. She was never served any type of court papers for the hearing where the landlords got this judgement. She cannot afford to have her wages garnished for a place she wasn't even responsible for. She has limited funds for any type of lawyer, but would like to get this stopped and possibly countersue for all the crap they are putting her through right now.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated right now. Thanks in advance.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoIt's not even my relationship, but I'm involved...help?
My kids' dad & one of my friends have apparently carried a torch for each other for several years - like since before I even met him. I've known her since we were 10, she met him when she was 16, I met him when I was 19. Anyway - we've been apart for almost 3 years now & their paths crossed again & they realized they still had feelings for each other. I told them both - I'm cool with it cuz him & I are never going to work (we tried for 7 yrs). They were both so happy that I was fine with it & tellin each other ILY & planning to move in together & everything. The other day, he & I argued about something, & he vented to her & she's upset about some stuff he said to me, & now he's pissed at her - OMG..drama...so anyhow, now he's decided that it's all wrong & will never work between them, & I told him I think he's being foolish - he & I have to be parents & maybe friends, she & I are friends, & they have their relationship. So now what to do? I think he's tossing away something that
1 AnswerSingles & Dating1 decade agoWhy and how...?
Why and how is it that a person (my now ex in this case) can look you in the face and lie and KNOW that they're lying and then tell you some crap like, "I didn't mean to lie..."??? What the hell is so hard about spitting out the truth? Sorry..guess this is more just me venting and wasting 5 points, but it's an easy 2 points for anyone who answers :)
10 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoImmunization records...?
I know that in Wisconsin, you can obtain immunization records online, but does anyone know how to get them from Indiana? My friend is trying to become certified to watch my kids as a state-registered provider, but I believe she has to have her records to do so. She didn't move to Wisconsin until about jr. high age, and there's no records in Wisconsin for any immunizations, so we're trying to find a way to get these records. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
2 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoHow do you set up a donation account?
One of my mom's best employees had to have surgery on her back just yesterday, and we don't know what her insurance is going to cover, and if or when she will be able to come back to work. So we set up a donation jar at the store for her, and customers are starting to give money, and now we want to either find a way to deposit the money into her account for her (we know where she banks), or open up a seperate account for her that they can transfer the funds from.
So how do we go about this? Thanks for any and all help!!!
2 AnswersCommunity Service1 decade agoHypothetical question...?
First off, I just want everyone to know I'm not selling anything, just trying to settle a debate that my fiance & I are having over a biz opp I'm looking into.
If you wanted to lose weight, sleep better, gain energy & focus, have better sex...lemme think...improve your eyesight, take good vitamins - that sort of stuff, all health/wellness related - what would you be willing to pay if whatever product or supplement you took actually worked for you? If a friend or family member recommended it, would you try it? If you saw someone else's actual results, would you try it? Would you continue using it, keep buying it?
We're having this debate (I don't want to call it an actual argument) cuz he says - how can you tactfully ask someone if they're sick of being fat/tired/crabby/sick, & I say that if you can prove it works & most people DON'T want to be all those things, they'll at least try it once, & at least 1/2 will keep up with it.
What do you think? All answers OK, be honest please.
6 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoIs this wrong?
OK, I've got 3 girls, and once in a great while my mom takes them overnight - mostly cuz of her work schedule. My children don't listen to me for crap - anyone else, yes, but me - nope. My mom gets mad cuz if they don't behave I WILL cancel plans - park, fun excursion, privelages, on even have cancelled visits (I have to drive an hour one way) - and she says it's wrong. But isn't it wrong for me to reward them for misbehaving? I don't want to take away time with family, but I don't appreciate being ignored and having my house trashed and the fighting, yelling, jumping on furniture - basically anything naughty they can think of to do. And it's the same crap every day. I've tried to do fun things with them, but they just cannot seem to behave unless there's someone else telling them. What am I doing wrong? And am I wrong for punishing them for misbehaving? I need help with this. No rude answers please, only helpful. Thanks.
6 AnswersParenting1 decade agoNeed help sleeping...?
Hey all...what do you do to relax enough to fall asleep? It's like my body is exhausted, but when I lay down, my mind is still going 100 mph. I can't use Tylenol PM - for some reason, it really knocks me out, like for about 8-10 hours and then I'm groggy for the first couple hours I'm awake. I've heard of some stuff called ?melatonin? that's supposed to be all natural, non-groggy - anyone tried it? If I don't start getting normal sleep soon, I dunno - my relationship suffers, my children don't get me at my best, I feel like poo..lol..I just would like to be able to go to sleep at a normal time, sleep for a normal amount of time, and wake up ON time..lol..any help is appreciated :)
3 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoWhere could I find....?
Is it possible to find/buy the original sleeves for VHS movies? I have an pretty big collection of VHS movies and wanted to sell some on eBay, but I think they would sell better if they were in their original sleeves, you know? I have kids, kids play with stuff, some of the sleeves got ruined or cut or whatever, some have nothing at all..lol. So I was just wondering if anyone knew? I tried to do a web search, but I must not be asking the right question. Thanks for any help :)
1 AnswerOther - Entertainment1 decade agoHow to make life a little more pleasant??
I had tried to relocate to TX & ended up coming back to WI. My friend secured an apt. for me & my kids b4 we got back in the town where she lives. We've now been here for 3 months & I've tried to talk to people & socialize, but I continually get the cold shoulder. At my kids' school, at the grocery, at the post office, at the park - I don't get it? I've never had trouble striking up a conversation with someone before & frankly, I'm getting pissed. My lease runs thru Jan 2008, but I need to stay till the end of the school year, so moving is out just now. What else can I try? It's a small town, only 2000 people & everyone seems to have kids & money here. I've got kids..lol..not money, so what can I do? Do you think they're like this cuz I don't fit in here? I live in an apt., drive my mom's spare car, blahblah, but whatever, that has nothing to do with my personality, and again, I've never had this problem before. Should I just stop trying or should I try something new? Be nice plz.
7 AnswersFriends1 decade agoI found tics...?
I found tics on my 8 year old yesterday after she got home from school. Of course, I freaked out because I associate tics with diseases, so I took her and the tics in and the doctor told me they were wood tics, not deer tics. So I'm wondering, is there something I can do to repel them or make them not climb on my kids while they play outside at school? My friend is fairly amused (we live in a small country town and she's grown up like this and been around all these weird bugs) but I've grown up, not in "big" cities, but bigger than this and only ever got annoyed with spiders, earwigs, bees - normal bugs. Are there still health risks with wood tics? Thanks.
5 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoWhat would you rather have?
I saw a wedding band/engagement ring set that I really like - it's simple, it's inexpensive, and it's exacltly what I'd like on my finger.
He said it's "nice", but it's "cheap" and don't I want something better?
Does it really matter what the monetary worth of the ring is?
21 AnswersWeddings1 decade agoWhat to do?
Me & my fiance are generally a really happy pair, & my kids love him to death & so do I. The ONLY time I can't deal with him is when he drinks (about once a month, at best) cuz then he starts talking like my ex & I can't stand it. I was with my ex for over 7 years on & off & put up with his verbal, emotional & physical abuse until I finally pulled my head out of my butt & left him. I didn't deserve it & neither did my kids, you know?
So anyway, we usually end up fighting when he does drink, & I hate it! I don't want him to not go out & have fun cuz I have baggage from my past relationship - that's not fair. I wouldn't want him to keep me from having fun because of his ex, you know? What should I do? Should I just plan to go to a friend's house or hang out with my family or something? I don't want to offend him cuz I don't want to be around when he drinks, but I don't want to fight either & this is the ONLY time we really fight. Pleez, no rude comments. Thanks for any help :)
8 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoI need fun, free or low cost activities to do...?
I'm trying to think of more fun things to do with my kids that are free or low cost. I live in a very small town, have a very tight budget, and need more things for us to do together based around that and when the weather's not cooperating..lol. I have crayons, construction paper, all sorts of coloring stuff, movies (but I try to stay away from TV), board games, the internet (obviously! but I want to involve everyone). What are some things you do with your kids that mine might enjoy? If it helps, mine are 3, 5 and 8 and all girls. Thanks for any input :)
17 AnswersParenting1 decade agoWhat's the best way to ask someone...?
I want to start a new weight-loss program that includes nutritional drinks and supplements, but I don't want to do it alone. I've been told the buddy system works better, that it keeps you more motivated. So I asked my fiance, but somehow managed to insult him because he seems to be taking it that I have a problem with HIS weight, and that's not it at all. We ARE both overweight and it would do more help than harm for both of us to lose the extra pounds and inches, but that's not why I'm asking him. I just want him to be my "buddy" and maybe enjoy the benefits if we both start seeing results. Can anyone tell me a better way to approach him so that I don't insult him? I would ask my mom, but she doesn't need to lose weight, and my best friend is pregnant right now, so she can't be on a diet or weight-loss program. Only helpful answers pleeez..no rude comments or snide remarks. Thanks! :)
