Do you know if you can have additional carry ons if you have a lap child (ie, my purse, my carry on and a diaper bag)?

  • How long is the Babies R Us registry 10% discount coupon good for?

I registered at BRU for stuff for the baby and they told me about the 10% coupon you get near your due date to use on anything not yet purchased from the registry.

What no one seemed to know is how long the coupon is good for. When I got married, my registry discount was good for a year. One person thought it was just good for 30 days and the other thought a year. Since almost everyone I've ever met at BRU is incompetent, I thought I'd ask people who'd actually been through this.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Some thoughts for those of you considering "unique" or "creative" names...?

Some advice from a teacher/pregnant lady who has had over 300 kids in her room...

The following are things I wish parents knew

1-Spelling your child's so uniquely that people think you can't spell. I once had a child named Jeremiah, except his mom spelled it "Germy" and pronounced it Jeremiah--that's not unique spelling, it's just sad.

2-Getting too precious with the names. Naming your child Precious, for example, or Treasure, or Unique...all of which I have personally had in my class. The kids get teased and the teachers roll their eyes at you.

3-Naming your child after a brand is tacky.

4-If you get too "creative" you will be mocked at length in the teachers lounge. And your child will come up with a name they'd rather be called by. Which we'll do out of pity for them.

When looking at names, ask yourself how it would look to introduce them as Dr..... or as Lawyer .... to the judge. They need to be taken seriously as adults.

What's the worst name you've encountered?

  • Can anyone share with me the translation of "hope" into Gujarati?

I lost my first child, and my husband (who's Gujarati by ethnicity, but grew up in the US and doesn't speak or write the language) and I named them "Hope." I'd like to know how to say her name in Gujarati and hope to write it in gujarati script if possible. Any help would be appreciated.
