  • My car has suddenly started getting bad gas mileage, what could be wrong?

Over the years, the various vehicles I've had, a drop in gas mileage has been the first indicator of a bigger problem. My first car went from 25 mpg to 8 mpg, when I noticed I had a leak in the gas line. my next car would routinely drop from about 20 city/25 hwy to about 15 for either when it needed the timing belt, or spark plug replaced. So I began taking my car to my mechanic friend any time I noticed a drop in my gas mileage. He has since moved, and I don't trust regular mechanics (got charged $300 to replace a water pump and timing belt; they replaced it with junkyard parts, skipped town by the time I found out); plus I'm broke.

So here's what you need to know. '97 monte carlo z 34; 3.4 litre v-6 170,000 miles dropped from 20 mpg city to 15: It's not sputtering like it needs a tune up (accelerates just fine) It does smell a little gassy, but I haven't found a leak. It does need a throttle positioning sensor (but I'm not sure that accounts for the 25% fall off in mileage)

  • I this the worst season of apprentice ever?

I watched apprentice for the first time this season last night. It seemed to me, that everyone was trying to absolve them self of as much responsibility as possible; concerning themselves more with who they were sending to the board room than the actual assignment. I've watched past seasons of the apprentice, almost religiously, up until celebrity apprentice. I've never seen such unmotivated whiners.

  • Estimated Launch date of Final Fantasy 7 re-release?

My friend said something about a re-release of FF7 for the PS3, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.

  • I have a game, that was designed for Windows 98. It isn't loading on my new Windows 7 computer?

When I try to install it, it gets about 55% done, and then it says it cannot extract a certain file, and shuts down the installation. I'm wondering if it is not compatible, or if there is some imperfection on the disc that I may not see.

  • Home squeezed v. bottled lemonade?

If I squeeze 1 lemon, add 2 tablespoons of sugar, and fill the 24 oz. cup with water, how many calories would that be? As opposed, to a 20 oz. bottle of manufactured lemonade containing 250 calories.

Also, is there a readily available drink (other than artificially sweetened diet drinks, and green tea mixes) that doesn't have a lot of calories?

  • It's been flooding for a while in Fargo and the president still hasn't been there. Where's the moral outrage?

This is exactly like New Orleans in 2005, and Obama has not addressed this issue, let alone visited the affected area. And, just like Bush, he's thrown money at the issue and assumed it will go away. Yet, there isn't nearly the moral outrage there was when it took Bush 2 whole days to visit New Orleans.

  • Something affordable, for the family to do, over a 3 day weekend in Miami/Ft Lauderdale?

The local airport is having a special deal on flights to FLL. I was wondering what there is to do over a 3 day weekend.

But is that at their 3rd birthday? Or any point in his 3rd year?

  • does anyone know the system requirements for the sims 3?

I know the game doesn't come out until February, but I'm really looking forward to it. The problem is, that my computer is a bit dated, and it's not like I can afford much more than an entry level model computer. I can still get upgrades, and it should be cheaper, if I knew what I needed ahead of time.

Every time I run a search, I turn up previews for the game (which do not include such information), or requirements for The Sims 2, which I already have.

  • my econ teacher once said that it was better to buy a foreign car made in the U.S. than....?

...it was to buy an American car, made in another country. (economically speaking)

    1) Do you agree with this statement?

    2) If so, would it be better to buy a car manufactured, for an American company, by a foreign manufacturer, in the United States? (i.e. The Pontiac Vibe is manufactured by Toyota in the U.S. for GM)

    3) If not, should car stickers label what percentage of parts and labor are from the U.S. alone, instead of U.S. and Canada?

  • my wife and i have very different sleep habits. would it be better to have 2 beds?

My wife says she needs to feel me close to her, but I go to bed nearly 3 hours later than she does. When I get into bed, it disturbs her. I have to put on a Cpap which admittedly makes a lot of noise. And, 80% of the time, she complains of me sticking my elbows in her face while I'm sleeping. She lives in a different climate than I do (she bundles up with covers, and I reserve blankets for certain extreme nights in the winter). She needs to watch TV to sleep, while I prefer absolute darkness (often sleeping with a mask or something over my eyes). When we make love, we only use half the bed anyway (after 8 years, not much more we can think of). I've suggested that perhaps we should have 2 beds, particularly since our daughter prefers to sleep in our bed (until I move her every night), rather than her own bed, which I'll admit is quite comfortable. She insists that she needs me to sleep with her.

  • 13 years after the movie, do you think people would associate the name Forest with Forrest Gump?

My sis has a boy named Hunter, and I kind of like having a more organic, non-traditional (non-hippy) name. One that I thought of (for our "yet to be known sex" child due in October) was Forest. But as I tried to imagine how it would sound, all I could think of was "RUN, FORREST, RUN!"

This concerned me a bit, as I've autimatically associated the name with a fictional (low IQ) character.

But on the other hand, that movie is over 13 years old, and by the time he's old enough to be teased about it, kids his age won't get the reference.

  • Too many Hydrogen fueled vehicles?

The only by-product of a hydrogen powered vehicle (fuel cell or combustion), is heat and water vapor.

But, what if you get a large concentration of Hydrogen vehicles (such as New York), all the heat and water vapor rises into the upper atmosphere creating cloudiness and rainstorms. Now say, these clouds go out to sea, the convection cycle builds these storms into hurricanes, and intensifies existing hurricanes. Besides all this, all the fresh water that is released over the ocean changes the salinity of the ocean, further progressing global warming.

    Wouldn't that be possible?

  • Is there anyway to buy a subaru outback or forester, with 3rd row seats?

We've got a big family, and Subaru is doing things for the environment (presumably cheaper than Honda or Toyota), so I'm doing some research. It'll likely be a few years before I could buy one, but i'd still like to know.

  • Will an outdoor digital antenna receive HD channels?

I saw one at radioshack, and I'll admit, I'm kind of slow on the uptake about this DTV conversion (although, I do understand about the converter/ cable box). But I'm tired of paying for cable, and am seriously considering just buying an antenna. I'm just curious, what the resolution will be, if I buy one, and if it would be worth it, to splurge and buy a new TV (I really don't see the point in spending $600 on a tv, when the one I have works fine)

  • I've been seeing commercials for Subaru PZEV here in Florida.?

The only information I could gather about the vehicle came from Subaru's Canadien website. It said it was made in Indiana, for California emissions standards, and that it'd be available in Canada for the '09 model year. Nothing about it being available in Florida. It didn't have any info about fuel economy, or expected cost. I'd really like to find out more about it. Best resources get 10 points.

  • Is Crisis Core awesome enough to buy a PSP, just to play it?

I never bought a PSP, ever since my Game Gear turned out to be a flop in the 90s, instead waiting for it to come down in price, so I could borrow a friend's instead. But the FF7 prequel "Crisis Core", is only available on PSP, and now I'm reconsidering buying one, just for that game.

  • The Reds have moved to AZ, will their minor league team follow?

The Reds failed in trying to extort $60 million from the city of Sarasota (after succeeding in extortin $15 million from the state), and decided to pack their bags and move out west, where Goodyear handed them the keys to a brand new, "state of the art" stadium.

I'm not going to miss them, but the question I have, is now that they've moved, will they simply fold their FSL (class A) team, and move that to AZ too? I would miss them.
