  • Romantic weekend getaway close to Atlanta, Georgia?

I'm trying to plan a surprise getaway for me and my hubby. We live in Atlanta and would ideally love a moutain/lake setting but HAS to be within 3 hours' drive. Just the 2 of us - no children. Price is no object. Any recommendations??

  • Activities for toddlers in Woodstock, Georgia?

My son is 18 months old, and my husband and I are desperately seeking activities to share with him on the weekends. We've tried Chuck E. Cheese's, but places like that are really more geered towards older kids. We want a combination of indoor and outdoor activities/locations that cater to children his age and will allow him to run and play in a safe environment. Although we live in Woodstock, we aren't opposed to driving into Atlanta! Please help!!! (Please email me at tamashacrouse@hotmail.com).

  • Moving to Georgia.. anyone know anything about 7 Pines Apts in Alpharetta?

Looks okay when walking through and the agent was nice enough, but you know there are always things beneath the surface. I don't know anything about Georgia at all, but I do know that I need a place close to my office in Roswell. It's only for a year while my house is being built. But I don't wanna suffer for a year with loud music at night and finding myself in Little Mexico during the day... Anyone have insight regarding this apartment complex, or decent places to live in the Alpharetta/Roswell/Marietta area?

  • Do I need a business license?

I will be operating a home-based "business" in Fulton County, Georgia. Basically I'll just be doing some data entry and monitoring the delivery of merchandise. I am only going to be working for ONE company -- they are in Europe and just need someone in the US to oversee the delivery of their products to their customers in the US. I can't find any relevant info online... Do I even need a license to be independently contracting my services??

  • Christian name that's NOT a biblical character???

Looking for a "Christian" name, but don't want a biblical character. My hubby and I are Christians, but we don't want our children named after specific people in the bible because there are just too many to choose from. Our first son is named Christian. If we have a girl, she'll be called Faith or Grace. But if we have another boy, what name would be good?? Remember - NOT a specific person, please!

  • Affordable health insurance in Georgia?

We're moving to Georgia (currently live in Europe) and my hubby's company has crappy insurance. It's free for him, but for me and my infant it'll cost almost $700 per month! That's just ridiculous! Are there any Georgia residents out there who pay their own insurance and would suggest their insurance company? I'm 32, a stay-at-home mom, and my son is 9 months. PLEASE don't answer that I should go back to work and get insurance there - Our plan is for me to stay at home until our son is old enough to go to school, and then I'll go back to work. Thanks in advance for all educated and serious answers!

  • Places to leave near Roswell, Georgia?

Me, my hubby, and our 9 month-old son are soon to be moving from Europe to the Roswell, Georgia, area. Don't know anything about Georgia, so looking for info from GEORGIA RESIDENTS about the best places to look for apartments/houses that wouldn't be more than a 20-30min drive from Roswell (where we'll be working). Thinking that we'll live in an apartment for a year while we search/build a house. I've found a lot on the internet, so PLEASE don't answer with the obvious links to community sites. THANKS in advance!!

  • Can I write my own living will, without legal assistance?

I have a copy of my father's living will and want to use that as a guide for writing my own. As long as I get it notarized, is it legally binding? I would hate to pay a lawyer for something I could do on my own! (P.S. I have a child and the state I'll be living in is Georgia.)

  • What is the meaning of the name Isabel?

My friend just had a baby and has named her Isabel. She wants a framed certificate with the meaning of that name because she saw that one that I made for my son. She isn't very religious at all, and all the meanings of Isabel I can find online are Christian definitions. Does anyone know of a non-Christian meaning???

  • Where to buy baking powder in Rotterdam, Netherlands?

I'm going crazy over here with not being able to find the stuff I need to cook! I know that baking powder is "bakpoeder", but I've scoured the stores and still cannot find it. They HAVE to use it here with all the pastries and breads they sell, so where can I find it?! I live in the Schiedam area, just outside Rotterdam.

  • What constitutes "abuse" in the eyes of Social Services?

My sister is married to a guy who is pretty gruff and uses foul language a lot. He has a quick temper, but to my knowledge, he's never hit her or the children. The environment in that house, though, is tense beyond belief. Just wondering, does Social Services consider a hostile/stressful/tense environment a form of abuse or neglect? Or does there actually need to be physical proof of wrongdoing?

  • Military code of honor???

Just wondering.... I was recently threatened by someone in the US military... was basically told that he would do bodily harm to me... Isn't there some type of military code that prevents members of the military from making threats towards civilians??? I'm really concerned about this because the guy who threatened me is living with one of my family members, and I would hate for his temper to be unleashed on me or anyone in my family... Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'm just ignorant of military laws and codes.

  • To freeze or not to freeze?

I've always heard that you should not refreeze meats; however, I don't know if that refers to meats only in the raw or state or meats that are cooked. Here's the deal: I bought a big package of fresh boneless chicken breasts (not frozen) and popped it into the freezer. I started unthawing it last night in preparation to cook for supper tonight. But I just found out that my husband is taking me away for my birthday and we're leaving tonight to be gone for 2 days. Can I go ahead and cook the chicken (was going to make fajitas) and freeze the cooked product, or am I just outta luck?

  • Travel notes for Trier?

I'll be visiting a friend stationed in Baumholder next week, but since there's a huge festival going on I wasn't able to get a hotel near the army base. Instead, I'll be staying in Trier. It's just for one night, but wondering if there's anything worth doing/seeing in that town? (FYI - it'll be me, my hubby, and 8 month-old baby)

  • Applebees hooplah!?

A story ran on MSNBC today about an Applebees in California that mistakenly served a toddler a mixed drink instead of apple juice. Apparently, the drink and the juice were kept in identical colored pitchers, so the person who filled the order just wasn't paying attention when he poured the liquid into the toddler's sippy cup. The toddler got sick and had to be taken to the hospital due to vomitting. He was fine in a matter of hours. Applebees told the mother of the child that she could have free meals there from now on... and the mother said, "No way -- that's ridiculous to think that I'd ever go back to Applebees again!" My question is this: If the same thing happened to you, would you stop going to Applebees altogether, or would you take their offer to eat there for free??
