My mother-in-law had a needle biospy of the lung done last week. We called in for the results, which are not back yet. The nurse said they are probably waiting for something to grow. Do you need to wait for cancer cells to grow if the diagnosis is going to be lung cancer, or is that an encouraging sign that it might just be an infection of some kind? I thought cancer cells can be seen immediately from any samples that are taken.

A Mexican co-worker of mine just had a stillborn baby. She doesn't have any money to bury the baby, so the hospital is diposing of his remains for her. Is it appropriate to put cash in a sympathy card for her? I'm sure she has medical expenses that she could use help with. I just don't know if other cultures do things differently, or if it's appropriate under the circumstances.

I work in a hotel restaurant. Because of business demands on weekends, we only have one server who handles everything, hostessing, waiting tables, bussing, and bartending. We also have to plate our own soups and desserts. I recently had a busy weekend where I had a table of ten plus several other tables and people at the bar. Is it reasonable for management to expect one person to handle all this? Any specific guidelines to how many people, tables, etc. I should strive to be able to manage would be greatly appreciated.

He came home from school yesterday and received a letter in the mail congratulating him for being named student of the month. It's based on leadership, character, kindness, academics, etc. He cried and ripped the letter up. Apparently, it's not cool to be student of the month.

I was hired as a bartender for a hotel restaurant/bar. While I have served bar food before, I had really very little experience serving in a full-service restaurant.

Last night, I was on the schedule to serve only in the dining room. The bartender would serve in the bar. Due to a snowstorm, the entire restaurant was full. I had one busboy who is useless, either because he doesn't understand English or pretends not to, I'm not sure which. We have no hostess, so I have to seat people, take their orders, make their drinks, as the bartender is too busy handling the bar to make my drinks, etc. Needless to say, the service was horrible, and my tips reflected it, deservedly so.

My question is, how many tables should an average waiter/waitress be able to handle? I'm wondering if I'm just not cut out for this, or are their expectations way beyond reasonable?

During the day shift and weekends, we also have to bus our own tables. I'm really getting fed up with this.

discount for signing a two-year lease. How much would you discount for a two-year lease? Normally, I would think locking in rent for two-years without an increase would be the break you receive for signing a long-term lease. But nothing is normal these days.
