I'm looking for an SLR camera for my dad. This will be our first SLR. Let me also add that he's very passionate about photography. I need to ask 3 things:

1. I've zeroed in on the Canon EOS 550D (aka Rebel T2i). How good is it in your opinion? (Help from professionals will be appreciated)

2. Any other SLR in the same budget range that you would like to suggest?

3. This is important -- My dad is an ophthalmologist and he would like to use the SLR to take close-up pictures of patients' eyes. Will the standard 18-55mm lens suffice for this purpose? Or would he need to buy a separate macro lens for the same? Please suggest some lens suitable for this purpose.

I have been learning to play the guitar for quite some time now. As of now I have always played on an acoustic guitar. I own an acoustic; but one that is of very poor build quality. Now i have decided to get a new guitar. Let me add that i no longer take guitar lessons as i am in a different city and cannot afford the time to join classes here.

Now my dilemma is - whether to get an electric along with all its paraphernalia (im enthusiastic about its new experience), or to get a good quality acoustic guitar. I read somewhere that if i am interested in singing along with playing (which I am), then i should NOT go for an electric. I also read that acoustic is better for strumming (which i like, and i can do it quite well), while electric should be prefered for playing leads (which i would very much like to learn).

So i would greatly appreciate your advice and/or any other suggestions. All the guitarists out there please help me out in making an informed decision. Thanks in advance.

I have recently got selected in the MGIMS 2010 Exam. I am a resident of Maharashtra.

I have cleared the following exams:

1) MGIMS

2) MHT-CET (sml 392)

3) AIPMT

4) AFMC written (appeared for interview)

Now my problem is; that i want admission in one of the 4 colleges of Mumbai.

But my parents are insistent that i join MGIMS due to the sole assurance of a PG seat.

I personally do not like Gandhi at all, nor do I like their idea of rural service and ashram bullshit.

At the same time i am not aware of how good is the college.

I would like to know from knowledgeable persons that how is the overall facility, teaching staff and hostel at Sevagram.

I understand that getting an MBBS seat is nothing compared to the REALLY tough PG entrance exams. But I know i did not exploit my full potential during 12th, and i am ready to fight it out for PG right from the beginning. Having said that i cannot deny the fact that people rarely get PG in their 1st attempt, so i am really confused.

So i really need your help and kind advice people.

I have this IBM R52 series laptop and it's got all errors on it now.

I could have easily got it formatted but the problem is that i will lose all of IBM's software and utilities. Secondly, the warranty will be void. It has Rescue and Recovery program installed and there's an option to restore to factory state. I want to ask whether the Operating system will also be erased.? What about other IBM software that came pre-installed??

please help????
