  • Check engine/ airbag light issue - 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with just under 116,000 miles on it. My airbag light has been on for a few weeks - I have had it looked at and there are no codes coming up that are associated with the airbag. I do have an O2 sensor code, but no check engine light. I also haven't noticed my check engine light when starting my car.

My question - It is possible for the check engine light to burn out, or could this be a bad sensor? Also, would the airbag light be coming on instead of the check engine light as a safety measure? It is easily fixable? I've mentioned this to a few people including the mechanic I was at last week (getting a new Throttle Position Sensor and tune-up) and I just get blank stares, so either this really isn't an issue or I am explaining it wrong. I'm hoping someone here can help!

    Thank you!
